Gadgets overtook human companionship
Re: Nostalgia : 2000 Vs 2026 by Bluna:
There were many large families in those days. My parents have 6 children, together with our 3 cousins that lived with us, we were 11 in the house. We used to sit round on the floor to have our meals together from same bowl. Only our parents used dining. Strong bond and love still persist among us till today. Children in the neighborhood were not afraid to come to our house and we were never afraid to go to theirs. Nobody was suspicious of anyone. But things have changed today, infact none of us train our children this same way. Nowadays, there are smaller families with fewer children and every home is strictly minding their business.

Nothing last forever even in next 30years today will be used at old time memories...the problem is that majority of Africans lack discipline and patience to work for lasting development like whites majority ...yes we have corrupt whites but they're in minority that why the majority forced lasting development on the minority but in Africa ,we have corrupt people in majority and they've forced snail speed development on the minority of good people....

The world is evolving, but are we really evolving for good or gradually drifting away from who we are.

But you see that game hall eh, na my second house after school, those days of Shevchenko, balack, Anelka, malouda and the rest.

A lot has changed both for good and bad. We can only work and pray for better.

The saddest part is the family and community bonding time that social media has taken away.
Welcome to digital and solitude age..

Nostalgic nonsense
Nostalgia is for those who experience present day difficulties. Those who cannot cope with changing times.
As for me,the past was terrible and present day is fantastic. The world/life has gotten better NOT worse.
I definitely DO NOT want to experience living in 2003/2004 anymore

That year my neighbours children go help me do all my house chores just because I go allow them enter house to watch Papa Ajasco, Binta and friends, Super story, and what have you.

We go trek to and fro school, just to use our transport fares to rent CD plates, if dem no put picture of gun or 2 fighting for the CD packet, the drama no go be action movie then. Fun child hood memories.

You're actually right with this your comments.

I don't know why so many things in our society don't even interest me again. Like some sort of de javu, like I've seen this before like I've experienced this before.

Well, all memories are invariably bad.

That cassette player is outdated for the year 2000.

Disc players were the thing back then .

Cassette players were already outdated and only time you will even play a cassette was on your outdated car stereo .
Re: Nostalgia : 2000 Vs 2026 by obinna58(m): 12:01pm On Aug 10
Now it’s all about how much money you have

Then you can play with lots of people and it wouldn’t be any money matter, now someone sees you walking money wahala, you come out street to rest they’ll begin to count bills for you.
You say make visit relatives dem go expect you to buy a lot of stuffs
Government sees you walking on the road dem go start counting the rules you’ve broken asking for money

Come out of your house now is only two things involved
You coming out to spend money or coming out to make money nothing else matters

The world is rotten

So from another angle, Nostalgia is not for those who experienced horrible past cool

In summary, you are right and the other angle is also right. Also, some had wonderful nostalgic past and a fantastic present day.

No! The world is expanding, and human relationships are constracting - thanks to globalization. The negative effects are: depression, suicide, loneliness, etc.

Nah. Cassette wasn't outdated in 2000. It was still a thing, though CDs were gradually coming in. But this was mainly for those in the big cities.

CDs really became a thing from the mid 2000s

grin grin It's not about the phones, cars, AI and other tech stuff in isolation. Nostalgia is often about the human side of things. It's about the people in relation with the tech.

Well, CDs became a thing for people like us in the late 90s with CD Walkmans and 5 disc turnstile players.

Cassetes died in the late 90s.

By this same time CD ROM were making a big wave

I missed playstation2 alot.

Miss that PlayStation portable(psp) too.

Yea. I remembered we use to attend a prayer meeting at night at the home of one of the top contributors in the church. And when coming back, we borrowed movies from dem to watch at our yard.
