This morning, I was just chilling in the compound, and one of my young bachelor neighbour stepped out of his apartment, with ankara material wrapped around his waist - and the first thing that came to my mind was "Na him mama definitely give am the wrapper!" - oh yes, and it was not to mock him, but rather it was funny, because me sef get the wrapper wey my mama give me when I wan commot from house that year.

If you grew up in a traditional Nigerian home, chances are, you sef get wrapper wey your mama give you. You could have towel and all that, but you see that material, it's always like an heirloom. God bless our mothers truly, many of them were not rich in wealth, but they were filled with so much love, that even their 1 kobo carried the weight of gold.

Note, this love is not flawless o, my mama dey beat shege for my body that time, I was an introverted but yet strong-headed (them go say wicked) child, but that tough love helped me turn out right, because even when she beat you, she'll still be careful not to hurt you - those days, after she beat me and I don cry tire, she go come carry me dey pet me 😅.

So what are your fondest memories your mother? If she's still alive today, as that memory puts a smile on your face, call her and say "thank you my darling mother".

My mum screaming my name as I go collect prizes on prize giving days.

One time, during school days,she took me to the atm, withdrew her entire salary and gave me, without minding what she,my siblings would have for the month,I didn't want to collect that..

We went to market, learnt cooking skills . Saw her last in 2002.

RIP MAMA

She uses hot slap to correct me each time I seriously misbehaved. That discipline still dey inme till today. Keep resetting mom.

Na my atm without questioning on what I want to use the money for

Borrowed money to impress the people.
Watch our creditors come to our house to take our black and white TV as a child.
She will borrow money with out telling her husband.
A woman with no source of income .
Her husband salary was used to pay debtors for years .
The money that would have been used for the betterment of us was used to pay debts for years

Ma'ami, Iya Yele. Hummm......too many memories.
Whenever I offended her. She will wait till when I was asleep to wake me up and dish out my cain for me 😂😂😂.
Whenever I proof too stubborn, and she can't handle me at home. She will follow me to school and report me to my class teacher. That was even I might begged her tire at home ooo.
Whenever I'm sick, she will be worried sick too. Been here first child & first son.
I can go on and on and on.
My sweet mother. She taught me (all of us) especially her male child to look after ourselves in cooking, hygiene and taking care of home well, that we should not depend on woman for those things, afterall women too need some rest when they are at home.
She finally passed on 2023 @ 78.

Anytime I came home from boarding school, the first thing she will complain about is how thin my neck was, even as a senior., then she proceeded to correct it.

Sorry I never gave you the world Mum, however every time you appreciated the little I did, it made me feel 10 foot taller.

Special mention for rolling on the floor like a footballer being tackled anytime I got a new job.

What a star.

Oh one more thing, I know you died a while ago mum, but if you can call me just one more time despite that, I promise I'll keep it a secret between us and make you laugh and start coughing one more time.

Mum loved me truly. This I certainly can't deny, and it's always a fond memory for me.

How she always borrowed to ensure our school fees were paid. I thank God, it's now history. God be praised.

Free wrapper for boys that year 😄. Mothers are uniquely wonderful. My mum is not the aggressive type when it comes to discipline; she’s a very sweet, beautiful soul. Love you, Mama. ❤️

On Easter Monday, I saw masquerade (with cain) passing through our street, & then I screamed/pleaded: "Masquerade: do I come along?". The masquerade responded: "why not, come along!" As I was about joining the masquerade to go flex and show off when school resumed, na so, my mother (who had bn observing) screamed out "Name"! where are you headed; u hv not yet bn "initiated-o" into boyhood (as required in SE)!". Chai! "Na my mother be this or my "enemy"? There's no way the masquerade would hv know if I had bn initiated or not (@ 10/11 years old); it's not written on our foreheads nah" Na so, I stay for house with Nnem throughout that day, as all my siblings had already gone out to enjoy demselves. Up till this moment, the echo of her screaming vibrates... It happened that my mother love me pass, nay, tough love!

Your dad is a good man. I doubt if I would pay debts incurred by my wife without my approval. I no sure I get that grace. God help us to be better spouses!
