Accord Party said that it won't field a presidential candidate because none of its aspirants met the deadline.

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has sued Accord Party and INEC to force them to accept him as their candidate. He said that he was the sole candidate but the party failed to upload his name to INEC's portal.

Worryingly:
The type of politics we play in Nigeria makes my stomach turn. This is an Accord Party governor openly endorsing Tinubu of the APC. Doesn't matter if Accord has a candidate or not.

Of course its probably less about genuine political alignment and more about staying in the good books of the president so that the federal government does not frustrate him or his government. But that, in itself, is an indictment of the weakness of our democratic institutions.

When a governor knows that the federal government can deliberately frustrate his state simply because he refuses to align politically with the president, the rational response becomes to align. The result is a political system where independence is punished and loyalty is rewarded, regardless of party affiliation or principle.

Compare this with the United States, where a state governor can openly tell President Trump to “Bleep off” and still govern because there are strong, independent institutions capable of protecting the constitutional powers of the state. The president cannot simply weaponize the machinery of the federal government to punish a governor for political disagreement.

That is the real problem. Our institutional architecture creates powerful incentives for political dependence. Until those institutions become strong enough to protect elected officials from political retaliation, politicians will continue to prioritise alignment with whoever controls the centre over the interests of the people they were elected to serve.
You wrote this dogo turensi bcoz the Gov endorsed Tinubu?

You are ignorant. In America, it is the counties that organize elections, not even the states or feds, so governors know there will be no consequences if they abuse the president. If the federal government were in charge of conducting elections in America, no governor would dare speak out against a character like Trump unless he/she has decided to damn the consequences because Trump believes in retribution and illegalities.

This endorsement is not coming from the heart or place of love rather it's just a survival strategy.
Tinubu may not win in Osun state next year.

I know this victory must be from Mr President, it was ostracised by APC to make us think they can be beatable. Example, they made us believe Obi won Lagos and Abuja, but inverslly it was just a deceit and full of lies sad
Yours faithfully angry
No bro, APC wanted osun at all cost nd evidence were they Buh what save the day for Adeleke was that with the help of davido they were able to getALL eye on osun, even international were watching

Tinubu have no choice, than not to interfere becos APC winning osun will further complicate his chance in 2027 .. it will only instigate people more against Tinubu in 2027,

APC winning Osun is not good for Tinubuimage, kudos to people of osun that came out nd decided what they want

I don't think whatever he thinks actually matter, it is normal for him to endorse the current president. The people will be the one to decide in the end not him. People need to stop waiting for popular figures to tell them who to vote or support.
