How can a man represent to others he lives for a given cause and suddenly abandon that cause!😳. That is what Biased Ologunde a.k.a. Lagbaja has done!! It raises the question about how genuine his purported conviction of purpose was in the first place. Put in simple terms a fandom of Lagbaja like I am can't help thinking that he used that representation to gather money so he can japa to America! I concede that I may but I just could not help thinking that way! Tell me, who in Manhattan have their souls so serenaded with lagbaja's music like folks in Nigeria when he was live at Motherland! He must be told in no uncertain terms that I would feel like am wasting away my life in Manhattan real-time if I were in his shoes! One hopes he will return to Nigeria someday to come and fulfil purpose to the core! |

Lagbaja can rest. We have Terry Apala. I bought his original cassette tape back in the days (early 2000's) when I was a kid. So bros is an elderly man by now. I don't think he can relate to the current market/Nigeria. I don't mean no disrespect sha. |

Leave him, he will find his footsteps again. We all have an opportunity and when our dreams happen we key into the opportunities. I'm sure he does not regret leaving Nigeria, I wouldn't regret it under the right circumstances |

Lagbaaja.... Nothing for you |

laivwire:An artist exists for his society who deservedly have an expectation of him. It is his choice to relocate elsewhere to do something else. That would not take away from a disappointed member of the society expressing disappointment at the choice of the artist if it appears to be ulterior to societal expectation of that artist. Lagbaja is not just another artist in Nigeria. His absence in this space is telling on the music and art economy. I meant no harm. It is my way of saying how much he is missed. I woke up this morning thinking about him and wishing he was here in Nigeria! As to your imagined lawsuit I am sure millions of other Nigerians who share my sentiment out of love for Lagbaja will join in the fray. No shaking!!! Folks like you do not appreciate art sufficiently enough to know how much the decisions of an artist draws the emotive out of those who follow his art! That is like what this generation refer to as influencers! If I saw Lagbaja face-to-face I will say it to his face and I know he is sufficiently large-hearted to burst out in laughter while explaining his decision. For your information no explanation from him would satisfy my longing for his presence in Nigeria. He is so switched off that his You-Tube channel begs for content with only a few thousand scribers!!! One day a book will be written and a story told about what exactly happened that informed his sudden volte-face !! His absence has left a yawning gap in the genre of music he plays. Once again, omo Baba mukomuko kumbaya!😀 |

zoedew:How convenient for you to conclude. But I get your point anyway. It's only odd to say his life is wasting away. |

Anything you don't know no dey put your mouth theirby exposing your ignorance. Lagbaja is an institution who ought to have stayed around to nurture the young generation of artists in his unique genre of music. It will take a thousand years for us to recover the loss if he goes to grave with that talent without replicating it. Op is on point EmekaBlue: |

zoedew:Which purpose again? Person wey done dey old. You don't want him to rest and enjoy the remaining portion of his life? Or do you want him to come and campaign for presidency? |
| Re: Lagabaja Is Lost In Manhattan U.s.a. What A Life! by IamAsiri: 6:01pm On Aug 17 |
Firstorderwizard:Do they want to be nurtured? And how will he nurture them? Will he start his own school of music or what? Don't they have several materials of his that they can fall back on or what? Tori ko ye mi o. Moreover, this generation is not doing badly either when it comes to arrangement of songs. Just that they want something different which we can't blame them on. |

IamAsiri:There is no such thing as an old artist! An artist is a creative person. So long as a thing remains creative it never gets old. Art is timeless. Experiencing is the container that holds it. Lagbaja is a priceless piece of art I wished expats continue to come to Nigeria to see! He is entitled to his privacy though!🧐 |

Leave him alone. As long as he isnt suffering over there, a simple life is a lot compared to a country where kidnappers are pampered and victims ignored by the federal gov of all govts. |

IamAsiri:A different thing you talk about came out of something that was before. What I am pushing is that Lagbaja is of more or a better use to mankind living in Nigeria than elsewhere on the globe. It is his choice though but followers of his art form cannot but have their say. I will not be surprised to get to know that he is a course of study in schools of music and Universities just like Beethoven, Handel, et al are! Too many times African do not sufficiently appreciate what they have got in terms of talented art. Back then across Muson Centre which is now elitist, stood an art village and museum where secondary students debated themselves and folks unwind in a healthy manner. Uncle Kuboye, Uncle Peter King, Uncle Jimmy Solanke, and others. Uncle Peter King trained Asa the female music icon! I look forward to having Lagbaja back in Nigeria someday. When he was here he had patrons in high and lowly places in the society who after work made straight for Motherlan at Opebi! |

CodeTemplar:I doubt very much that you understand what we are talking about!!! Artists do not suffer! Back then Kings invited Artists to stay in their palaces to entertain them and produce more art! Some rich Nigerians privately reach out and take care of artists in our society. Visit the Palace of the typical African King in a proper Place setting and you will see how valuable artistes are in our society not to talk of the King's Palace! They wake the king up with beautiful drumming and flutes tunes e.t.c. You think it was for nothing the recently concluded FIFA World Cup event had artistes entertaining the world. Imagine Lagbaja at the FIFA games! |

laivwire:Odd, I concede that! Thanks!! It doesn't explain away though that my passionate fandom for Lagbaja i.e. his incredible blend of Afrobeat, jazz, and distinct masquerade aesthetics that inspires fierce protection and strong opinions among his dedicated listeners made me forget my manners! By the way, what were you doing sitting behind the ass of that BMW. BMW designers especially the interior needed to be conceived in Japan and their mothers delivered of them in a BMW factory in Germany! BMW interior can be so monotonous! But the a/c is chilling like you are in a coldstore. When I drove one 6 series I couldn't be about town on a drive without switching the air-conditioner off and on again simply I just could not cope with the terrible cold! By the way I love it chilling cold anywhere am at! |

zoedew:I understand your point perfectly but, he is the only one who can decide whether to stay or leave a particular place. Me thinks he has tried though. If he wants another kind of experience, he is free to pursue it. God forbid but, what if he left the earth? Would we look for a way to call him back or just reminisce? Sincerely, I think he has tried. If he wants to come back to Nigeria once in a while and still jamz with his old folks and for his fans, it's okay. |

IamAsiri:Their gain is what we miss here! An overview of Nairalanders on the Topic it is obvious that Nigerians do not appreciate art especially the fusion of music Lagbaja created. So smooth and continuously creative. His bass lines are not a piece cake for just any Bassist to try out. I celebrate. I seriously wish he kept in touch! |
