The African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has opined that former President Olusegun Obasanjo does not have any political or electoral value. Recall that the duo have not been on good terms since they left office in 2007 after completing their second term of eight years as President and Vice President, respectively.

Atiku had revealed that he opposed Obasanjo’s third-term bid to defend Nigeria’s Constitution and democracy rather than out of personal loyalty.

Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, August 19, Atiku said he was not bothered by Obasanjo’s refusal to endorse him. “In 1999, he could not even win his own state or the Southwest; it was Arewa that made him President.

He possesses no electoral value,'' Atiku said. Speaking on the 2027 general elections, Atiku said that as Vice President of Nigeria he gave many young Nigerians the opportunity to serve in government.

According to him, some of them are now governors, ministers, directors and holders of other important positions, adding that if he becomes President, young Nigerians will continue to be given opportunities to serve and lead.

Of a truth, Obasanjo was a very lucky person, because the North actually thought that "one good turn deserves another". He gave power to Shehu Shagari, so the North decided to pay him back.
In 1999, Obasanjo was not the most fantastic leader in the South West. If it was a way to compensate the South West for the death of Abiola then there were better options then.

I prefer Ariku to Obasanjo..
Atleast you know where Atiku stands.
There is nothing politically spectacular about Obasanjos administrative skills.
Dude was below par.
In terms of his political pursuits, his tenures witnessed an alarmingly high increase in all sorts of extra judicial murders and plane crashes involving big names; Harry Marahal, Dokubo, Ige etc..
Crude violence was a permanent feature..

Forget all that whitewashing by the mercenary Lagos Ibadan expressway compromised press houses, who crowned the inept bully as the father of modern Nigeria. Obasanjo was a placid administrator who spends most of his time chasing real and Imagined political enemies..

Lately, Peter Obi has been trying to portray Obasanjo as a detribalised Nigerian and I think that is gross. Obasanjo was in on the arrangement that led to the sidelining of the South East in the scheme.of things post 1999. He had all sorts of "good friends" in the SE, but when it was time to find a deputy for Yardua, dude went for one unknown ijaw quantity. Now he wants to make Obi the president?

Saying the truth as it is cannot be termed as pride. Just like Tinubu, Obasanjo couldn't win his polling unit in Ota. The North and the Southeast made him president. The Southwest, including Tinubu, voted for Olu Falae. Now Tinubu wants all Yorubas to support him and is blackmailing Seyi Makinde.

His lackeys say he is handing it to governors in exchange for their support. They said Atiku shouldn't have said he would bring back subsidy because governors wouldn't support him. Unlike Tinubu, Atiku is not fixated on endorsement by governors. His primary concern is the Nigerian people.

Hard truth!

Obasanjo is just a favoured man. He can't win any election on his own. He has not even ever won any election inside his own polling unit in Abeokuta.

That is not to say Atiku is better than Obasanjo in performance. In fact the best for the job cannot win any election. That is is the dark side of the democracy.

TRUTH from Atiku, I think the 2 best presidents since Democracy dispensation is Yaradua and Jonathan.

-Jonathan was disrupted by insecurity.
-Obasanjo was too rigid and Autocratic.
-Buhari was better than Obasanjo...His only flaw was changing the Naira notes.
-The worst is Tinubu, You removed subsidy, yet nothing to show for it, Severe hunger and hardship. You are granting loans upandan with our own Nigerian money 💰 Yet you are borrowing Billions of Dollars.
