Two folding smartphone-shaped guns found in police raid at Deception Bay

Two extraordinary handguns allegedly designed to fold up and resemble smartphones have been seized during a police raid north of Brisbane.

The weapons were among four firearms uncovered when officers searched a property at Deception Bay earlier this month.

Images of the bizarre guns show just how easily the weapons could potentially be mistaken for an iPhone at a distance.

Queensland Police confirmed officers from the Moreton Tactical Crime Squad, supported by the Public Safety Response Team and Dog Squad, executed a search warrant at a Cross Street address shortly after 5pm on August 2.

Inside, police discovered two handguns allegedly designed to fold and resemble mobile phones.

Two other pistols and multiple rounds of ammunition were also seized.

Police also located quantities of methylamphetamine, GHB, cannabis and ketamine during the search.

A motorcycle allegedly stolen from Deception Bay sometime between February 20 and March 8 was also found at the property.

Four men have now been charged following the investigation.

A 37-year-old Deception Bay man was charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of weapons, possessing relevant substances or things, possessing property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence, possessing utensils or pipes for use, and authority required to possess explosives.

A 52-year-old Rollingstone man was charged with one count of unlawful possession of weapons.

A 40-year-old Burpengary man was charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and failing to properly dispose of a needle and syringe.

A 44-year-old Deception Bay man was charged with one count of buying or possessing S4 or S8 medicines or hazardous poisons.

All four men are due to face Caboolture Magistrates Court on August 31.

The extraordinary find not unprecedented in Australia. Just a few months ago in South Australia, police allegedly seized another handgun disguised as a mobile phone from a man in Whyalla.

In a separate case, detectives allegedly recovered a homemade “pen gun” after a 27-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg at Christie Downs in Adelaide’s south.

NSW Police have previously investigated an alleged pen-gun manufacturing syndicate, seizing 14 of the improvised weapons during a 2014 operation in Sydney.

And just imagine, they were discovered in a place called "Deception Bay" in Australia. No wonder the Bible warned that in the last days, deception would be the greatest tool in the devil's hands.

I wonder how soon before unlawful elements in Nigeria begin imitating this.

This will just give the Nigerian police another excuse to confiscate iPhones. And trust our police, once those iPhones get into their hands, the rightful owners will probably never see them again.

My dear Aussie baby!

Interesting times we are in

When they call a place "deception bay",
What do you expect to find there apart from deception?

This gun has always existed na no be today. I'm just surprised it's now in circulation 😆

Old format na. Buying it is easy. Sourcing the ammo is the hard part

Governments around the world should stop the production of this evil thing forthwith.

If it's Nigeria...
They may request for Iphone permit!

Have you watched days of the jackal?

Technologia... This is cool

Cool.
This is not terrorism.

I love this gun and the other one that looks like a credit card. I wouldn’t mind buying either. Although I believe in learning a martial art, a firearm is highly necessary to fend off potential attackers, especially physically powerful ones. Now, this product and the other hold one to five bullets at a time. If one is attacked by a crowd or an animal, the firearms are as good as useless.

No I haven't. But will likely watch it now

Very Handy in case of self defense.

It was stated there, why asking again?
A Burpengary man, meaning a man from the city of Burpengary
