The obsession that Igbos have with the word "king" is way off the mark.
grin grin grin

With one breath, they claim that they respect no one and bow to no one.
With another breath, everyone who can have at least 2 nwa boys, one highlander, and a very plump wife (physically overweight) at home who is maltreating a househelp, will automatically coronate himself as king.

That is why no one sends their kingship. Even them sef no dey send their kingship.
If a person in the north is mistakenly turbaned as sarki, even if it is sarkin dariya, the government will immediately recognize the person and accord them the necessary honor. That is because they know what royalty is. But as for the Igbos, royalty is a joke. That is why we can have four kings on one street. Since they all have highlander, overweight wives, and abussed househelps.
grin grin grin
So all these your long rant is just because one man calls himself a king, who is stopping you from calling yourself a king? If it's that easy as you described.

You even went as far as calling women overweight (women abuse) and some nonsense about househelp. For something you claim that is joke why did you spend so much time on knowing all about it? You waste your life and time complaining, crying and lamenting on something that you claim is a joke.. Mmmm... Your brain sure need exermining

That’s the beauty of Igbo land
We choose to have kings but the kings are mouth peace , they are not above the people

It makes things easier to have a mouthpiece to speak for us as a people

Doesn’t give him absolute power
Exactly what I am saying, bro.
You don't know what a king is.
Everyone is a king, because a king is not really a king. A king to you guys is a clown.
Only a mouthpiece, and nothing more.
He should never be taken seriously.

The word 'King' is alien to them during the colonial and pre-colonial era. They practice a decentralized system of government. But after migrating to other regions and see how their kings were honoured, they introduced kingship into their system.

Ever since then, every Tom and Dick wants to be called King even outside their own region.
Funny enough, they will be on nairaland, defending that fulishness.
Take a look at what this one below said. The dude doesn't know that for a king to be a king, he must have absolute power. If he doesn't have absolute power, then he should be called a chief, clown, joker, etc.

We speak to authorities without fear why you people used to absolute monarchies for generations fear change and fear to hold your leaders accountable

When have they EVER practiced the republican system?
I mean republican in a cultural sense as opposed to monarchical in a cultural sense. I am sure you understand that.

Then you don't understand what a king is.

An absolute monarch is a king.

What you have is a representative spokesman

See how you are flooding the whole thread with ridiculous female sentiments. One man calls himself King and you have taken it as a job to lament and cry all over nairaland about it.

That is what i want to understand, if it pains you that much just do the same, call yourself king and i will worship you.

Bitterness? You are the one having. High BP over an the mention of King, what are you afraid of or worried about? When king is mentioned you go into an emotional melt down.

Same as "constitutional supreme leader."
It's a name that exists only in the lexicon, but is illogical in its totality.
In reality, a constitutional king exists only as a symbolic or traditional role.
In instances like King Charles, they preserve the TRADITION that gave birth to the state.
But tell me, which Igbo tradition ever had a KING?

You were not permitted to have kings because a subjugated people are a vassal to a powerful external authority.

This is the main reason you never had kings because the Bini Oba , Attah of Igala and Obong of Calabar had carved out Iboland for themselves.

The Binis raided Anambra down to present day Imo. The Bini warriors will later become the Ikwere people of today in PHC .

The Attah controlled all of Enugu , parts of Anambra and Ebonyi .

While the Ekpe cultists under the Obong of Calabar controlled most of Abia, parts of Ebonyi.

Any Ibo who dared to raise himself up as king was seen as an usurper to the three greater external authorities.

Ibobland was subjugated by the Bini, Igala and Ekpe .

You might have had semblance of what may pass as a king but after and during the centuries long subjugation, any one amongst you who rose to claim the position of king was seen as an usurper and rebel by the external powers.
