but they made high end androids like the X series which I used one of them. Their batteries last longer than 2 days from charge.
May be you missed what that person said, window OS killed Nokia. People found it difficult to operate it and it was boring.

Because of heavy competition in the tech industry and if you are not ready to follow the trend, you'd be left behind.

They are all playing it safe… no one wants to make the mistake Nokia made years back…

i read an academic paper on what Nokia did wrong that made them lose their huge market share when I was doing a research on managing strategic change ….. and the answer came down to nothing….. Nokia ddnt do anything..

Nokia dominated the market with their unique hardware designs, and good battery life from meat pie shape to mini laptop look, and even designs that change shapes like transformers … but when iPhone came, instead of Nokia responding with a similar version of its competitors’ design to have something to feed consumers that will follow the new trend ..
But no….they were complacent….
they would have remain up there with iPhone as the two phones running their unique OS while others stayed on android …

Thats why u see everyone doing virtually the same thing, because no one wants to take the risk of doing something widely different from trend and end up like Nokia
Well to me I belivied what killed or the major factor that killed Nokia was when they were acquired by Microsoft...it was a time that the world was shifting to android os ..then the big gates gang acquired it I think it was the Lumia time ...it was so complex to use and 1 of it kind in the whole world what it meant you could only share app or have things incommon with just same users a time when flash share now xnder came out...and they were so bent on not changing to android os
I believe they lost alot of Markey shares it was so bad that they had to sell it back to the original owners but the world had moved on sadly

Nokia failed to listen to its market's needs, and in failing allowed Chinese phone makers to encroach into its market and take its

Simple and short!!!!!

They had first banked on their Symbian because they thought they owned the market. With the advent of smartphones, they had the option of MicrosoftOS or Google Android . They made the wrong choice and pitched their tent with Microsoft. That was the end
If they were smart they would have ran two line of phones, Microsoft OS series version and Android series versions and then weigh which version is doing better in the market and invest on that.

One of the major reasons why Microsoft OS bombed was that it was very similar in looks and feel as the windows 8 OS on PCs which a lot of PC users heavily criticised for being wonky, and non user friendly. Another thing was that it lacked sufficient apps on it's apps store.

The market had already left them by that time. Breaking in was very difficult, Samsung, Huawei and Google were were in control of the Android market by this time.

that deal was a killer deal. They have no business with Microsoft os.
Completely killed them off, their CEO after some sober reflection declared "WE LOST" when it became apparent that they were well and truly out of the game. It's really sad because Nokia had great phones, their designs were on a class of it's own but that one decision killed them. It's especially more tragic when you consider the fact that Google android approached them first to be the pioneer of their OS but they instead went for windows.

Yes and they should have stuck with it but sadly Nokia as a smartphone company no longer exists. They're now more focused on telecom networks like 5G and Tele equipments.

Be that as it may, both the apple and Samsung phones will still fall eventually regardless of how long they last or reign

Sometimes the present and current seem like forever
But the truth is... So it would seem.

In the end, it's just a new beginning for another

Standardization. A fear to innovate. It worked for Apple when other companies claimed it would fail, so why not? As it is, would consumers accept a phone which looks different from the norm? My guess is no.
Re: Why Do All Smartphones Look The Same? by Hungrychicken(m): 11:00pm On Aug 25
My bet is on Samsung to break the lock.
They're more innovative than the Iphone.

So iPhone that didn't follow Nokia way nko ... It's beyond design, it's battle of Operating systems. Not really design. People were using RIM even when IOS and ANDROID WERE ON. so it's not Really design but software

It is from Apple..

The software design called Dynamic Island was created and introduced by Apple..

But the hardware concept, putting a camera cutout in the screen, was already common in Android phones..

True beauty is functional.
A coat of many colors is nice, but why wear it under the scorching sun?

Beauty serves a purpose. What's the essence of POP that people use for their house ceiling? Name your reasons, and find out how many house owners who installed POP know of these reasons?
It's mostly because it's the trend, hence their reason for installation

The price of Authenticity is attachment. To be original and true to yourself, you have to be willing to let go of something or someone or People who aren't comfortable with your originality.

This is the reason why iPhone don't freak me. They're not functional in my life at this time, and I'm not going to be pressured to own it because others are using it. I'm typing this post with a tecno spark 7. When I get the money, I'll upgrade to a Xiaomi of fast charge, good storage and good battery. That's beauty to me. I believe a phone with such upgrade will come with a befitting camera.

Nokia closed up shop because the masses are forgetting what true beauty is. Same with the songs and movies of old. If you're a sensitive person, you'll notice that you cannot compare the energy of early 2000s to now. The energy was arrrgghhh...alive.

Humanity has embraced ugliness and it's depressing in my opinion.

In the past, when we used to have only Java and Symbian phones as internet-accessible devices, the designs were crazy. They were thrilling. One phone after another, you would see beautiful designs. We had a lot of beautiful designs at that time, even though most of the phones were made by one core company, which was Nokia. But the designs were great.

And when BlackBerry came, the designs were also very, very thrilling.
But in this age of smartphones, phone designs are not really impressive. It is as if the companies are not really doing much in terms of phone body design. Yeah, they are not doing much. It is mostly like, okay, one brand comes out with a design, and other brands copy it, and suddenly all the phones start looking alike.

I remember there was a time when I liked a company's design so much. A phone that particularly thrilled me a few years back was when Infinix released the S5 Pro. Yeah, I think it was the S5 Pro, where the front camera would pop up whenever you wanted to use it. And when you were done using it, it would crawl back inside, like a snail pulling itself back into its shell. I liked it so much.
Some other designs that have impressed me are in-screen fingerprint sensors and in-screen front cameras. Yeah, in-screen front cameras. I particularly liked the one on the Infinix Hot 7 Lite. I'm not a fan of Transsion devices, though, I just have to give honour to whom it is due.

These days, I don't know if it is because I'm a graphic designer, but I think Samsung is still trying to outshine its competitors when it comes to phone body design. And the funny part is, that's why I said it is probably because I'm a graphic designer, they are not doing too much. Their designs are very minimalistic.

When you take a look at the S series, you'd realize that their designs are very minimalistic. But I just like them. I just like them. They are very sleek. When you look at the back of their phones, they stand out amidst other phones. iPhone as well. When you talk about phone body design, iPhone is trying, but Samsung, in my opinion, comes first.

And I think it is just not like the past. It is just not like the era of Java and Symbian phones.
Meanwhile, I'm not saying this for Samsung because I'm a Samsung fan. No, never used a Samsung device, and I don't plan to use one. Again, I just have to give honour to whom it is due.

So, let me know: what other phone brands do you think are doing well when it comes to their phone body designs? Let us know in the comments.
After trying all manner of designs...research has shown that the trending design is the most durable

It's because most of the manufacturers are all weak to push on on innovation, they will rather keep following someone proven template till another manufacturer somewhere upgrade. Then they start looking for the template of the new production again.

I meant the cutout , apple copied it.
Always on display, customized locked screen, app drawer and library, night mode photography, USB c , higher refresh rate, periscope telephoto zoom, OLED display (Samsung still cashing out on them till now , home screen widgets and many more... People using iPhone are not really smart users when it comes to technology

I guess I didn't take time to understand what you wrote concerning android OS but nothing to research there. Everyone knew that they later switched to android OS but it was already late, users/customers had moved on.

what killed Nokia was Microsoft OS, they had the opportunity to go android and stay at the top of the game but they stuck with Microsoft for far too long, giving Samsung and iPhone to overtake them.
Microsoft os didn't come out on phones (Nokia inclusive);till like 2013 and above. Infact Microsoft os came out on phones after android. What we had then were Java and symbian phones. Nokia Microsoft was a flop and cudnt compete with Android.

And in Nigeria, android got popular as from 2013, when Transsion phones flooded the market.

going for windows wasn't really the issue, but unwilling to adjust to anrket realities. Their phones were too technical to operate in that windows software.

I think that was a feature with the windows OS, it was wonky and not user friendly, same issues with the windows 8 and 9 on PCs
