Tinubu: A President And The Endless Question Of His Past - Peter Obi by fergie001(mod):
A President and the Endless Question of His Past

As a citizen of no other country, who has never sought foreign citizenship even when doing so became fashionable, my loyalty to Nigeria and my faith in her destiny remain unshaken.

Yesterday, 30th of August, being Sunday, I fervently prayed for our nation and for those entrusted with the solemn responsibility of leadership. I found myself deeply saddened by the direction in which our country is heading.

It is profoundly embarrassing that we have reached a point where a sitting President is asking a foreign court to withhold records concerning his past, particularly records relating to matters of legitimate public interest.

Leadership, in my humble view, demands the courage and humility to confront one’s history — to acknowledge mistakes, provide candid explanations where questions arise, and, where necessary, apologise and seek forgiveness. True authority is strengthened, not diminished, when a leader accepts responsibility rather than seeks to shield uncomfortable aspects of the past from legitimate scrutiny.

This becomes particularly important when questions concern educational credentials. Issues surrounding foundational schooling — primary and secondary — should not remain unresolved or be addressed primarily through legal proceedings. Nigerians deserve clear, credible, and verifiable explanations, especially when such had been submitted in the past.

My deepest concern is the example this sets for more than 200 million Nigerians, particularly the over 30 million young people in schools. The nation’s highest office should exemplify integrity, accountability, transparency, and ethical leadership.

An imperfect past is part of the human condition. What matters is the willingness to confront it with humility, honesty and deep apology, to make amends where necessary and, when circumstances so demand, to place the interests of the nation above personal ambition.

When will our political class fully appreciate that individual ambitions are temporary, while the nation endures? The Presidency is an office held for a season; the moral standards established by those who occupy it can influence generations.

Nigeria is greater than any one person, and the integrity of the Republic must always come before the interests of the individual.

Tinubu may not be Nigerian as it's been alleged that he carries Guinea passport .

Lebanese people in the northern Nigeria speaks hausa even more than some of the indigenes and that doesn't make them hausa people.

That tinubu speaks Yoruba fluently doesn't make him a bonafide son of Yoruba .

Tinubu isn't even known in Osun state where he claimed that he originally hails from, nobody knows his family house or the school mates he attended secondary school with in Nigeria...

Trump should please as a matter of urgency release tinubu file to expose this alien personality from "Only God knows" where he comes from misleading our country and running the economy aground.

Tinubu must go in 2027, he's alien to us.

Have you ever condemed the ongoing massacre of Nigerians by Islamic terrorists in northern Nigeria before ?

How did Nigeria arrived with such a kind of humanity dodged with many controversies from birth till date? Tinubu owe Nigeria accountability to let Nigerians knows his involvement or otherwise in this issue. Nigeria reputation have been damaged already.

Someone cant be struggling to prevent his dirty past from being unbundled, then tag it a country's national concern or problem. It is really worrisome that people still defend Tinubu. So terrible for a nation.

Nigerians with sound conscience should use the next election to vote a new Nigeria and free the country from political stranglehold of this kind of despicable character making Nigeria a joke in a 21st century world.

Re: Tinubu: A President And The Endless Question Of His Past - Peter Obi by SixSeven:
The gbajue supporters told us he is greater than Awo 🤣🤡 Yoruba ó ronu. You had opportunity to showcase your best to the world but you brought yourself so low that omoluabi concept is now something others are calling scam. Obasanjo did not know what day he was born but he told us his story of what his mom said. What do you expect when the head is rotten? The society will be perverse with heedlesness and moral corruption everywhere. Even if you go abroad, have you started noticing that other Africans abroad have started taking a jab at us? Something they never used to do. Now, they will scrutinize your credentials so much because APC has given us two presidents with education credential issues. Over time, your country has become a country where they will question you because you people have presidents with questionable credentials. These little things matter, it affects you masses more than you think. No be Tinubu go suffer that kain thin, na you ordinary Nigerians go take the hit

I have no problem with Tinubu anymore. The joke is not on him, the joke is on Nigeria as a society. A society that lacks integrity and explains away questionable things is making itself look like a clownish society. Tinubu is not the problem, it is the society that made it acceptable to lack integrity that is. In a normal society, it is APC as a party that would have screened out Tinubu, not the court. APC would have looked at who had better qualifications and moral compass as a party. There was once a country where Salisu Buhari had to resign for forgery of academic qualifications but today it doesn't matter because the electoral act did not say yadiyadiyada or the Constitution says this and that. Who do you think you are deceiving? What message are you passing to you children 🤡 It's not everything that is court or has to be written in the constitution. Some things are moral but what do I know? A whole SAN reminded us that the law is not moral and that's one of the first lessons I learned in law. Education is not enough, you can be educated but not learned, you can go to school but not schooled, you can come from a home but not raised properly and you can claim a lot of things but never be able to tell truth. Integrity is very expensive, all the money in the world cannot buy it.

SixSeven:
Our problem is that we like to celebrate nonsense. And by nonsense I mean, we celebrate material things, things that don't have value, no worth but only craving validation because it is not authentic.

The elders used to say that a man who does not know where the rain began to beat him cannot know where he dried his body. Today, we no longer look at a man’s character, we only look at the size of his harvest, even if he stole the yams. We have turned our backs on the quiet truth of our ancestors to dance to the loud drums of foolish men. Of course, when a society begins to crown jesters and mock the honest farmer, the roof is already falling on the house. That's why they once said when a thief tells you to gotocourt, his brother is the judge. It means the system is fixed, and a dishonest person is only acting bold because they control or have an unfair advantage in the system meant to judge them. They control the system, they are the king of boys

If we crush the seed of integrity just to celebrate the chaff, what will our children eat when the famine of character arrives? Na there we de so. Ajekun iya ti e je ehn, Davido and SDM never got sing am well yet.

This message is not about the music or the musician 😕
When you say the truth in this country, you will begin to sound like a moralist, like a virgin, like a saint because we know what is true but it pains us when someone else is saying it and is not willing to participate in our lies. You don't look like you are normal anymore.
