KJC Opens ₱13 Billion Kingdome, One of the World’s Largest Indoor Arenas

The Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) has officially opened its massive 75,000-seat Kingdome in Davao City, Philippines, attracting more than 80,000 people to its opening ceremony on September 1, 2026.

Located in Sasa, near Francisco Bangoy International Airport, the huge facility took about 14 years to complete after construction began in 2012. The project is estimated to have cost around ₱13 billion.

The Kingdome was built primarily as a worship centre but is also designed to host concerts, sporting events and other large gatherings. Its 75,000-seat capacity makes it larger than the 55,000-seat Philippine Arena.

The facility is associated with popular preacher Apollo Quiboloy, the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

The opening featured large-scale worship activities and videos of Quiboloy, while Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte also attended the event.

The newly opened Kingdome has quickly attracted global attention because of its enormous size and modern design.

The Philippines is not a third world country but a developing country and a lower-middle to upper-middle-income emerging market. There are also centres like this in America and Europe, though not this size as they try to outdo in Nigeria. St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. It has a maximum total capacity of roughly 60,000 people. Some churches in the US are in their thousands and tens of thousands capacity.

Honestly, ₱13 billion is a staggering amount of money to spend on a worship centre, regardless of how impressive the building looks.

Yes, 75,000 seats is massive. Yes, the architecture is impressive. And yes, having a facility that can host concerts, sports and other major events can bring economic benefits to Davao.

But we should also be willing to ask the uncomfortable question: what is the bigger purpose of such a massive investment?

A building can accommodate 75,000 people, but that alone doesn't make it a blessing to society. The real measure should be what impact it has on people's lives beyond the walls of the building.

If billions can be raised for a religious project of this magnitude, imagine the schools, hospitals, scholarships, housing projects, businesses and community programmes that could also be funded with a similar level of commitment.

I'm not against churches building beautiful worship centres. Far from it. But when we celebrate the size and cost of a religious building, we should also ask whether the same energy is being invested in improving the lives of the people worshipping inside it.

A magnificent building is impressive.

A magnificent impact on human lives is even more impressive.

It's not data, there are just little Asia countries that i've not been to. The only country that is not poor in asia is China, UAE and maybe isreal and Singapore . The rest are just poor white skin people with good electricity in their houses. They will jump at visa to relocate to any Europe or America any day anytime
