Nigeria got the reset it needed. Our economy was some sort of decoy under Jonathan and Buhari couldn't help but maintain the status quo. It won't get harder than this ever again in Nigeria. Or else they bring back subsidy and peg dollar.

Paying subsidy or pegging dollar is not the problem. The problem is can Nigeria afford to peg dollar or pay subsidy without borrowing to pay for those?
So now we are lending to many and not borrowing abi

Has borrowing ended?

Dont let me stone you

You have the order wrong. We still paid for subsidy even when it was removed. Our government is dirty floating the currency. If they weren't it would be much worse than we have now. We literally export nothing but oil. And the subsidy is an opportunity cost not something you pay. You aren't paying to import but are selling oil you theoretically produce at lower profit.

Reno is demented if not, he wouldn't spewing such nonsense.

How is today better than any day in 2023.
Before May 29, how much was everything from petrol to toothpaste. How is it now?

What was the purchasing power of the naira then and what is the purchasing power now.

The one thing Nigeria need and has desperately so has been honesty, accountability and transparency. Frankly speaking, any policy that's people oriented just need those ingredients to grow the economy. That's the very thing Nigeria lacks. He resumed presidency, he bought fire truck for his fleet, new jet and yatch. Thats how you know the presidency no get plan.

Aregbe's half salary had more purchasing power than the full salary Adeleke is paying now, given the inflation that came with the fuel subsidy removal and the floating of the naira.
Was the Naira floated, or was it devalued?

Why has Tinubu failed to reach N300/$1 promised for the short term despite saving billions of dollar from subsidy removal, increased revenue and exports and even taking $3.3 billion SPV loan from Afreximbank, secured by future oil revenue and facilitated by Elumelu's UBA at an outrageous rate of 11.85%? The loan was specifically to defend our currency

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun made this known at the end of the inaugural Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
Mr. Edun said that the benefit of the subsidy removal will be plough back into various sectors to improve business environment for local and foreign investment.
He added that with the increased revenue from subsidy removal, various palliatives have been made available to cushion its effect on a short, medium and long-term basis.

Ofunaofu:
Report: Current Govt Added More Debt in Two Years Than Nigeria Accumulated in 55 Years

• Decries Nigeria’s debt service-to-revenue ratio

•Urges FG to declare fiscal emergency

A new policy brief has warned that Nigeria’s worsening debt profile and weak revenue generation have pushed the country into a dangerous fiscal position, with the current administration accumulating more debt in two years than Nigeria recorded during its first 55 years after independence.

The report, released by the Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics LTD/GTE, a Nigerian policy think tank, argued that the country’s debt crisis has evolved into a governance and revenue emergency, as debt servicing obligations now exceed the federal government’s retained earnings.
>
>
According to the think tank, Nigeria’s public debt rose sharply from N87.38 trillion in June 2023 to N159.28 trillion by the end of 2025, with President Bola Tinubu’s administration accounting for about N65.9 trillion of the increase within its first two years in office.

The organisation in the brief titled: “Nigeria Is Borrowing to Breathe—and the Clock Is Ticking”, noted that Nigeria accumulated only about N12.06 trillion in debt from independence in 1960 up to 2015, meaning the current administration added more than five times that amount in just 24 months.

The report stated that while previous governments also contributed significantly to the country’s rising debt burden, the speed of accumulation under the current administration had intensified concerns over fiscal sustainability.

“President Bola Tinubu’s administration has added a further N65.9 trillion in just two years. To put that in perspective: it took Nigeria’s first 55 years of independence to accumulate N12 trillion in debt. The current administration has added more than five times that amount in 24 months,” it argued.

It recalled that Nigeria briefly became almost debt-free externally after the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo secured an $18 billion Paris Club debt relief package in 2005 and paid $12 billion to extinguish about $30 billion in external obligations.

The reset it needed to make the masses poorer?

The same reset that bat argued and protested against in 2011 and 2012?

The same reset that in his campaign promises he stated that the fx rate should be around #200 to a dollar?

Same borrowings that the masses are yet to feel the benefits?

Same reset that the political office holders spend ridiculous amounts on themselves? The same bat budgets over #13m daily for his transportation and over #1.5m for his daily feeding?

Well, you can choose what you want to believe, and I can also tell you that the manner of 'reset' done by bat is fraudulent and a coward's way of dodging the actual hardwork that is actually needed to 'reset' the economy.

Are you aware that we are still paying subsidy even after Tinubu gleefully announced that subsidy is gone?

The question then is- why is petrol so expensive despite paying subsidy to Malta blending plant fuel importers, to frustrate Dangote refinery? Why are roads worse than when PDP gave us cheap petrol and less debt burden?

Any answer to these conundrum questions huh

NNPCL’s subsidy payment jump by 47.9% to N7.1trn in 2024

November 26, 2025

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) paid a total of N7.1 trillion as subsidy for premium motor spirit (PMS) in 2024, this sum represents a 47.9 percent increase from N4.8 trillion recorded in 2023.

This is despite the government’s announcement of subsidy removal in 2023.

The company explained that the amount, which it termed ‘energy security expense’ arises when there is differential between the exchange rate used to freeze the premium motor spirit ex-coastal price and the prevailing rate at the point of import settlement.

According to the report, government had instructed that NNPC Limited cannot sell its PMS above a certain regulated price. It added that the cost of petrol import is usually much higher that the regulated price.

Most governors couldn't pay salaries because they mainly depended on allocation from fg instead of putting on their thinking caps to generate revenues from alternative sources.

My Dad didn't get paid for a WHOLE YEAR and A HALF. Worst of all, he was STILL required to go to work, leaving his home @ 5am and reaching home @ 8pm after Traffic.

Can you or your father do that for a year and a half WITHOUT salaryhuh

It was the NORM back then ALL OVER the country.

Adding to that was the regular fuel SCARCITY and different school stoppages because teachers were striking for unpaid salaries.

We still have a long way to go BUT this is the first time that Nigeria economy has been getting KUDOS from even Elon Musk, all major financial institutions and major business men and economists eg madam Ngozi, Elumelu, Gov Otti , Gov Soludo (opposition govs that used to be Financial TITANS)

Finally, do you know that Nigeria fx reserves is at its HIGHEST in about 2 decadeshuh?

Be happy adeleke has been magnanimous enough. What he's getting from the federal government is what he's paying his state and in line with the minimum wage designed by Tinubu's administration. Even the LG allocation withheld by Tinubu's administration was being paid by him from the family's wealth. He's the best governor in Nigeria today

I actually belive Nigerians are the most docile and easy to rule people in the world, the general selfishness makes it easier to oppress since everyone is all for himself.
These people will mess us up and still rub it in our faces with no consequence, funny thing is that you will still have people who have collected pittance to support them.
Where else in the world will such arrogance take place that the country wount shake?

So tinubu removed subsidy and floated naira so that there would be enough money to pay 2.7 million workers and 1 million students. so what happens to the remaining 200 million plus Nigerians.

How much did you care about those civil servants that went home every month without pay, youbwish they remained in penury while you are driving your cars around showing off with givt subsidised petrol you couldn't afford on your own......same for the farmers, you rather they keep selling their hard earned produce for death cheap so you can be filling your table with food while they remain in penury.....a cattle breeder is far richer today than he was, same for the cassava seller, pepper seller etc.

Osun state, ekiti state that are major civil service states are enjoying the benefits of Tinubu's reforms.
