The dark one is from fish pond, stagnant water.

While the light-skin one is from the stream or moving water.
Period.

Easy man, you can answer without sounding harsh. The idea of this forum is to seek and impact knowledge where necessary.
Somebody can come on here and ask "why are some humans albinos", does that make the question foolish? Nawa for you o

You guys like asking questions without thinking sometimes.

Do all humans have the same skin colour? Why then would you expect all fish, animals or birds to have the exact same colour?

Catfish can have different colours or shades due to differences in species, genetics, age and environmental conditions.

Seeing two catfish with different colours isn't necessarily unusual.
Why was you talk to him like that
Re: Why Are These Two Catfish Different In Colour? (Photo) by mila1121(m): 9:26pm On Sep 17
They are different mainly because of natural genetic variation in pigmentation, with environment, stress, and skin moisture also affecting how dark they appear.

So, simply: genes + environment = different colour.

Follow me on Facebook Edward Mila I cook catfish thank you

LAFUN is LAFUN made from cassava
Amala is Amala made from yam

Most people ignorantly call it Amala fun fun and white Amala.

It is from the Egba people .
Re: Why Are These Two Catfish Different In Colour? (Photo) by Solidex(m): 10:34pm On Sep 17
The difference is that one is well fed ( Dark skinned ), while the other lacks certain nutrient ( brown skinned ) .
The former could be likened to a child who was raised during PDP regime, while the later is surviving the economic hardship of Agbado era.
When fish nor see better food chop e go turn brown

It's simple like us from the Niger delta it means
The like Wight fish is directly from the river it always clean because of the fresh water and it's environment.
While as the black means it's from a man made pond that water is always changed about 3 to 4 days respectively.
This is the main reason why we put hot water to clean up the block spot which is slimy before cooking.
But when we have one direct from our river we don't we just cut and cook. And in the Niger delta region the white is always costing much do to natural habitation hope is clearedhuh?

Catfish are known to change colour tones from time to time. The black one can become gray as well and the gray one can become quite black as well. I keep catfish as well and I've observed them changing colours. Adapting to their background, nutrition and possibly stress can trigger colour changes.

Some of my catfish are getting to 8 years old! I've had some I kept for 11 years but I sold them off recently. I do breed catfish for fingerlings production as a side hustle.
Hi there. Do catfish keep growing as they age? Would like to see pic of the 11 year catfish if u have one

This is not totally true. Yes, ponds could may have more fishes with same colour as the first one, but that doesn't mean that there are no fishes in the same pond like the other one.

Even earthen/concrete ponds will still give you fishes that are darker in colour, so it's not about whether the water is stagnant or flowing. Clarias reared in ponds are through artificial insemination because they don't reproduce sexually. So it's basically about genetics of clarias that were bred.

It's because of racism. Even fish sef dey beef each other for water. The white one called the black catfish a black monkey during a match. So the black one now reported to the OP so this matter will be handled by seun and nairlanders😆😆😆

Do you give them names individually to know each one separately? If yes, can they hear their names like cats and dogs do?

Did you read this, if yes, what do you mean they don't reproduce sexually

The differences is from their habitation
The Dark fish grows from a mangrove forest/swamp forest, while the White fish is from River. However, the dark one is highly nutritious than the white one because of its proximity to organic food and environment
