There is nothing wrong in reviewing and revising laws. It is done in sane climes. The alternative is to have those you want to regulate draft tax laws for the country like you have in the USA lol. It will end up favoring only the manufacturers and the elites. The law may be perfect...but this is where lobbying starts affecting things. They are already lobbying, and the people should read, learn about the law and pick a position, but since our media is useless, we have no idea what the law entails, so we go by what those that are to be taxed are saying about the law. YOU FORGET THAT THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR THEIR OWN INTERESTS NOT YOURS. Racoon: |

It seems the government read my mind. I was just thinking this morning, that the government needs to review and reduce all the various taxes Nigerians are paying. I went to renew my drivers licence this morning and I paid 40k to renew a class H driver licence. Things like international passport, driver license and so on shouldn't be too expensive naw. |

Didi2d:When Tinubu government came with that there poverty empowerment in 2025, we warn Nigerians are poorer they will become but they told us they are taxing the rich and the poor. They didn't remember that goods and services they consume are produced rich, which taxing increases the prices of the goods. |

judewrites:America and Europe have one in common, there currencies are reserve currencies accepted and used anywhere. American will import anything in USD (it's local currency) from any part of the world for there development, same goes for European Union and EUR. Now a country like Nigeria taxing it's citizens in naira is not a reserve makes no sense because majority of the development needed comes from outside which need USD and not NGN. If German citizens pay taxes in Euro and the German contracted Julius Berger to construct good and standard road for them. It is workable but not in Nigeria while the citizens will pay taxes in naira, government contracts JB with the naira who in turn demand for USD to repatriate there profits back home to Germany. The government then collateralize crude for USD loans form multilateral organisations like IMF to provide forex liquidity. Let me ask you this question: Was it the naira taxes that Nigerians paid that built roads or IMF USD loans? |

Racoon:Nobody said the law was perfect. There’s no law that’s 100% perfect. Situations change which will warrant laws to be reviewed. What you attached to your write up is fake. Even countries with highest tax rates in the world don’t pay up to that. Your 😭 is just starting. |

We must ask where implementation has revealed ambiguity, where unintended consequences have emerged, where compliance can be simplified, and where we can improve investment and competitiveness.”Now is not the best time to discuss competitiveness. Simplicity first |
