2027: Presidency Should Move To North After Tinubu, Then South-East — Anyim by kingjayzeelan07(op): 12:53am On Sep 25
Former Senate President and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has said the presidency should move to the North after President Bola Tinubu’s second term and subsequently return to the South-East.

Anyim made the remarks during an interview with Arise News, where he spoke about rotational presidency and the political strategy he believes the South-East should adopt ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, President Tinubu, who is from the South-West, should be allowed to complete a second term before the presidency moves to the North.

“Certainly, the President has taken it from the Southwest and is entitled to a second term. After his second term, I believe in rotation, and it will go to the North. After the North, it will come down to the East after eight years,” Anyim said.

He argued that such an arrangement would be consistent with the principle of rotational presidency, while stressing that the South-East would need to build alliances with other regions to pursue its presidential ambition.

“You need to support others so that they can support you,” he said.

Anyim said political parties should also operate as platforms built around common interests and objectives.

"Political parties should be like a family with a common understanding and objective,” he added.

On the political future of the South-East, the former Senate President said leaders in the region should think beyond immediate political benefits and focus on long-term goals.

He said political alliances were necessary because the region could not achieve its objectives by acting alone.

“I have given you one reason from the beginning: you need to align with another region in order to get your ultimate goal. This is political arithmetic, not about what he has done for that region or for Nigeria,” Anyim said.

He argued that democracy and nation-building should be anchored on principles such as justice, inclusivity, citizens’ rights, institutional development and the rule of law.

“When you talk about democracy and nation-building, you should be talking about principles, institutions, fundamental objectives, liberty of the individual, rights of citizens, justice, inclusivity, and the rule of law,” he said.

Anyim also said his political concern was to ensure that future generations in the South-East had a stronger sense of belonging and access to opportunities.

“My concern is not what I become—God has been so kind—but in my lifetime, I should be able to be sure that one day my children, my children’s children, and the younger generation in the Southeast will have that sense of inclusion and belonging,” he said.

On Peter Obi, Anyim said he respected the former Anambra governor but did not endorse his 2023 presidential campaign because they belonged to different political camps.

“Peter is my friend and my brother, and I respect him,” he said.

“But I belong to a separate party from where he is, so I did not endorse him. Peter is my friend, but we are not in the same political family. We are in different political camps.”

Anyim further said the APC had the potential to make a significant impact in the South-East despite Obi’s political influence in the region.

“As far as I’m concerned, APC as a party has every reason and ground to make its own impact in the Southeast, and I can assure you that APC will greatly impact the Southeast,” he said.

Certainly possible for Wike. 58 now. He'd be 70 then. If he remains politically relevant then he can be a strong candidate then.

Na yourself you dey deceive. You are looking for criminal politicians with indictments and EFCC cases that you can easily campaign against with your propaganda.. grin

PO really show una pepper because he had shown to be comparatively cleaner than your regular crooks in politics, so you found it hard to campaign against him and e really pain una. grin

Anybody that pulls up those names above as the 'Best Igbo candidates' do not want an Igbo president, he is only looking to ridicule the East during political campaigns. We know their history. grin

We know how you think and before you open your mouth, we already know what you intend to say or do.. grin

No be juju, we have studied your thought processes since 1970s. grin

Imagine this fella saying shitcrap. After 67 years of forced but failed nationhood, the Igbo are not entitled to vie for the presidency because of political servitude or subjugation?

Given the spectacular failures of those who have bastardized Nigeria over the years, other ethnic nationals should be given a chance as long as this contraption of an entity remains one except if its disintegrate. We are all equal before the constitution

As par the Lord God Almighty that you are, yes you can arrogate the powers to determine the sequence of events of life. Thankfully, history has proven many mere mortals that when you talk humans affairs, you also bear that God is the ultimate decider

Igbos too dey overdue Tufiaaaaa
We always love to outdo ourselves.
Governor Makinde is a Yoruba man, yet he is contesting against Tinubu, his fellow tribesman. No Yoruba person has ever ìñsùlted Governor Makinde for contesting against Tinubu.

Some Yoruba people are not in APC, but you will hardly see a Yoruba man publicly !ñsùlting or çàjoling Tinubu.

Atiku is a Hausa man, and the Governor of Adamawa State is in APC.
The Governor has never, for once, publicly ìñsùlted Atiku. No Northerner has ever publicly come out to ìñsult Atiku simply because of politics.

But look at Peter Obi. Almost every politician from his tribe seems to be against him.
The only Governors who have never spoken ill against him, to my knowledge, are Governor Hope Uzodimma and Governor Francis Nwifuru, and I actually respect them so much for that.
Soludo has made himself a þàrrot because of Obi. Umahi is embàŕŕàssing himself too, just to get favour from Tinubu, without realizing that he who sold his brother should know that the buyer will not trust him either.

North-SS-North- SE VS SW

SE & SW need to agree so SE gets it since SW( not SS) took its position in 2023.

ONE term only so everyone quickly gets a chance.

There are many credible candidates in the South East. The main problem is emotion and packaging. How do you package fraud like it's alaba market.

Because the SE was foolish enough to work against the political system that produce the President in 2023. .. he's talking to the people who vote to enable the 2023 presidenial victory and not you and your likes .politics decide and not your emotions

Outside this 4! No Igbo man currently alive can become president.
Wike is neither from Igbo nor is he from the South East. He’s an Ikwerre man from the South South and has every right to aspire for the presidency regardless of anyone’s personal opinion or suggestion.

You didn't say it should move North West or North East or North Central, but you want the return leg microzoned to the South South East.

No sir.

The Presidency will come back to the South and it will be between the SS and SE.
