https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de0qupOib3A?si=rCfpB9_FKlkT3pQl 2027: Cardinal onaiyekan Drags Soludo, Tinubu, INEC Over Free and Fair Elections 2027: CARDINAL ONAIYEKAN DRAGS SOLUDO, TINUBU, INEC OVER FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS Catholic Cardinal John Onaiyekan has raised concerns over the state of Nigeria’s political space ahead of the 2027 general elections, speaking on the need for elections to be conducted freely, fairly and transparently. Speaking in Enugu, Cardinal Onaiyekan said it is not the responsibility of Governor Chukwuma Soludo or other governors to tell citizens who to vote for, stressing that every governor has only one vote like every other eligible voter. He also questioned the quality of elections Nigeria has conducted so far, saying, in his words, that the elections “have not been serious.” According to him, conducting credible elections should not be treated as an impossible task, insisting that elections are “not rocket science” and can be conducted freely and fairly. Cardinal Onaiyekan also referred to the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noting that its Chairman, Joash Amupitan, had said he would “surprise us.” The Catholic cleric further revealed that when bishops visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, they raised concerns about what he described as a shaking political space and the threat to free and fair elections. His comments come as political parties, candidates, civil society groups and voters begin to focus increasingly on the 2027 elections, with questions surrounding electoral credibility, the independence and performance of INEC, the role of political leaders and governors, and the protection of voters’ choices remaining major issues in Nigeria’s political conversation. In this report, DDM examines Cardinal Onaiyekan’s remarks, his concerns about Nigeria’s electoral process, his comments on Governor Soludo and other governors, his reference to President Tinubu, and the expectations surrounding INEC ahead of 2027. What exactly did Cardinal Onaiyekan mean by saying Nigerian elections have not been serious? What should governors be allowed to do during elections? Can INEC deliver elections that Nigerians will consider free and fair in 2027? |

Tinubu's DG campaign, Abdulaziz Yari is busy going from islamic cleric to cleric (an exercise in futility by the way), urging them to support Tinubu's muslim-muslim ticket but Tinubu's lackeys want to draw the line on Onaiyekan and the rest of Nigerian Christians that have vowed not to support the same faith ticket. No be juju be that? Sheikh Jingir is also busy preaching to the choir on why Muslims should support Tinubu because of his muslim-muslim ticket but watch the usual suspects begin to foam in the mouth on this thread as they insult his Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan. |

But you can tell your members who to vote for because of government money that Peter Obi will be dashing you and your fellow bishops. It was during Peter Obi's tenure that Catholic churches in Anambra replaced Sunday homily with campaign for Peter Obi's re-election in 2010, a sacrilege they did for financial gains. |

AsomughaChuks02:Bring the evidence that Peter Obi paid any Bishop a dime to support him. Here is video evidence of Masari, Tinubu's Special Adviser on Polical Affairs, donating 600 million naira to Sheikh Yahaya Jingir. We are waiting.

AsomughaChuks02:Immaculate Heart of Mary Specialist Hospital Bishop Shanahan Hospital Pray tell, does Sheikh Yahaya Jingir operate a hospital Nigerians are not aware of? Obi is a private citizen and a billionaire businessman. Where did a mere Special Adviser to the President get 600 million to donate to the chief promoter of a muslim-muslim ticket? How much is his salary? |

AMINDA:He did a lot of this when he was governor with Anambra money. Don't pretend that you don't know. Now he is continuing with money he stole from the state. Those hospitals, do they treat their patients for free? Those are just fronts for settling the bishops. |

AsomughaChuks02:I don't know. I asked you to bring the evidence of him doing the same with government money and you are asking me to not pretend I don't know. It's a well-known fact that Catholic schools and hospitals offer highly subsidised services. Someone is footing the shortfall via voluntary donations. |

AMINDA:You know because you are from Anambra state deceiving yourself here ![]() Catholic schools and hospitals don't offer subsidized services. They are among the most expensive in the country especially in Anambra state. |

Has Soludo EVER FORCED anyone to vote or support anyone? Everyone has the right to TELL people whom to vote for, and everyone has the right to accept or reject such counsel. I'm addition, who doesn't have ONLY ONE VOTE? Even Onaikan himself has just one vote. BUT what Soludo would not accept is someone lying with reckless abandon about the state of the Anambra state accounts when they left office. Soludo has untethered access to such info and has chosen to make them public. Onaikan can give whosoever he wishes his own ONE VOTE while Soludo does the same. |
