Of course genes matter, and genetic differences can influence human traits. But “everything about life is rooted in genes” doesn’t mean every difference between populations is genetically caused. You still have to demonstrate the specific genetic mechanism responsible for the specific outcome.

The Zimbabwe example actually shows why I’m cautious. The World Bank’s historical account describes a highly unequal economy under Rhodesia, with major differences in land ownership, income and access to productive assets, followed by sanctions, war and major policy changes after independence. That’s a much more complicated history than simply “Whites left and the country collapsed.”

And the migration argument cuts both ways. Africans moving to richer countries isn’t evidence that they believe in racial superiority; income gaps themselves are a major driver of migration, and the World Bank explicitly identifies them as such.

So I’m not denying genetic influence on human variation. I’m simply saying that proving genes influence intelligence is one proposition, while proving racial genetic differences explain Africa’s lower HDI is another. The second requires considerably more evidence than the first.

The choice to move is because the cultural milieu f their native countries simply cannot generate and sustain HDI. They can't achieve the requisite lift-off speed. And not because of their IQs.

As I have requested previously, an idea of the exactly how IQ ties into HDI generation would empirically make the case you are presenting. What is the minimum required, individually, on average? And what happens as those variables change?

Even if Nigerians advance to an average 180 IQ, they will not develop western levels of HDI until they unshackle themselves from the culture that hampers. IQ does not, cannot drive HDI without the right cultural bedrock.
