Fair point. They finished even ahead of Mali and only behind Ghana for the WCQ spot.

elyte89:
I get ur point but sometimes d best way to c a game and defend is more attack ,what Tolu and boniface failed to do better against Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 was what Taiwo awoniyi did better Wc was to press the Madagascar 🇲🇬 defence (give dem something to worry about) ,Dey were not settled at d back ,hence couldn’t throw more counter like Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 did cos the duo of boni and Tolu failed to press and give d Zimbabwean 🇿🇼 more problems to sit back

Mind u dt Madagascar 🇲🇬 had 19points in d last wcq too ..so don’t say we were lucky,Dey were not bad too

Street urchins (agberos) are on rampage in Lagos. They have made harassing people who drive nice cars a culture and they are backed by their government, hence it will be foolhardy to host the super eagles there, otherwise the stories that will follow would be quite a sorry one. Look at what they did to Henry Onyekuru a few days ago. Lagos is a big no. I would rather play in Abuja
I agree. I was going to type the concern with that post.

I'm also really hopeful for the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in Enugu.

No be pitch make us lose or draw in Uyo abeg.
elyte89:
At dis point , i prefer we play on a good pitch on a nuetral ground Dan dt uyo pitch ..stats have shown so far dt we struggle on our home soil due to bad pitch, our away results have been far better ,this is largely due to good pitches we have played on

Last 2026 wcq..we only won two home matches

2022 wcq …we won just one or two too

The most under-rated player yesterday, so hardworking, good in possession and his defensive decisions were top-notch: Bruno Onyemachi.
I give kudos to this dude, he was almost my man of the match but Nwabali took that accolade

I'm really disappointed in Onyedika, I don't know if it's the coach but I thought by now he would have taken over the mantle from Ndidi
onyedika is not a like-for-like replacement. He's more creative and attack-minded

I didn’t say it was d sole reason but part of …why not ask ursef y do we get good results played in neutral grounds on a good pitch?

CAR defeated us in Lagos ? We won dem on a good pitch In Cameroon

Cape Verde 🇨🇻 almost defeated in Lagos also

As far as I am concerned..if we can play all our qualifiers on a good standard pitch like d one in Morocco 🇲🇦..I can guarantee dt we would likely most of our games

While Semi Ajayi struggled in his ground duels as he won zero (won 3 aerials though), Calvin Bassey won all his 6 ground duels.

No player on both sides had more Final third pass entries in the game than Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.

They both had 17 each.

We aren't serious as a country... All these billions being allocated for useless projects and being looted can be channelled to build at least one world class stadium.
I saw videos of the new national stadium Kenya is building to host the next AFCON and I just SMH at Nigeria...we aren't ready

I doubt if Guinea Bissau have a better pitch...but I hope they do

Our boys tend to play better on good pitches.... It's really shameful that we have 2 national stadiums in Lagos and Abuja that have been left to rot... Imagine if the Godswill Akpabio stadium wasn't built...we probably would be playing our home games away from home ever since CAF tightened their stadium approval rules....

I've seen pictures of the Teslim Balogun stadium being renovated.. I hope the pitch will be up to standard
National stadium is now abiodon property

Federal government should please try and rebuild the stadium I still remember those days national stadium in surulere 2000 Africa cup nation final against Cameroon

Nigeria 1999

Afcon 1980

We not good at maintaining stadium in Nigeria

I watched part of the match, nice pitch though, stadium almost filled to capacity
The goal against SA looked offside but VAR not available
Not an outstanding game but they managed to beat Guinea

Lagos, Abuja or Abeokuta would have been the best places in my opinion. Cos that way the players fly directly from obodo oyinbo instead of connecting local flights. If the SE play in Lagos, of course they can't get close to the players because of heavy security but it's the fans I pity.

We were speaking about Uyo o. Abi no be there we play 2026 WCQ and 2025 AfconQ?

Neutral ground (in CIV) against Benin no be draw (afconQ) and flog us (WCQ), so which other one again?

I'm all for good pitch but it's not a guarantee at all. Finidi's boys and the playoff with DRC is a reminder

I was at Teslim Balogun stadium in our Afcon 2021 qualifying match against Lesotho, we won that match 3-0... outside the stadium the security was very very tight, while they were leaving the stadium in their team bus..there were heavy security front and back...then no born any street urchin well to near them....people just gathered around the bus hailing and cheering them on as if they just won Afcon .
That particular edition super eagles played in 3 different home Venues From Uyo 2-1 win vs Benin to Ogbemudia 4-4 draw vs S/leone to Teslim 3-0 win vs Lesotho

Nigeria 2-0 Guinea Bissau (Afcon 2021 in Cameroon without Osimhen)

Nigeria 0-1 Guinea Bissau(Afcon 2023 qualifiers played in Abuja with Osimhen)

Guinea Bissau 0-1 Nigeria (Afcon 2023 played in CIV with Osimhen)

Guinea Bissau ?-? Nigeria (Afcon 2027 qualify without Osimhen) will the super eagles come out top?

Talking pressing by our CF give it to Osimehn and Awoniyi, reason why I always saying just introduce Awoniyi into any Nigeria game in any last 25 minutes of the play, but with Osimehn not available, Chelle should try George and Awoniyi in training to see the combo, though I want to see more of George and Akor again and Awoniyi can come in.....

Lagos is the best place to host our home matches.
The only reason Lagos is not hosting is because the stadiums are not in good condition to host FIFA and CAF matches, nothing else.

Lagos have been hosting many international events till date, thugs or no thugs.
Lagos was even rougher back in the days

Exciting match, the speed of transition from defence to attack was lightning quick, amazing football
Yamal is light years beneath Messi, though skillful but wasteful and unstable
The 2 goals conceeded by England was individual errors from 2 ManC players in defence.

Now that we have broken the Jinx of winning a match without Victor Osimhen , the next Jinx to break is a 2 competitive matches .... in a qualifier . the last time we had a back to back win in qualifier stages was when all the men that are playing now were boys .
