Apple is in the USA and they’ve built an ecosystem that makes it difficult for the average American to not want to use it, every American can get a cheap carrier for iPhone with monthly payment of $99 etc and trust me if Apple were to be from China, they wouldn’t go far.

It’s all about Patronage, Perception, The Ecosystem () and who buys it, etc iMac, MacBooks, IPad, ICloud etc

yearly production or yearly new models is not only pertinent to Iphone, it cut across gagets and everything people use phone, Tv, car, Fridge ,
i remember when i was in school me nd my crew then We love to wear swatch watches .. so every year we are always on the look out to buy new one

The idea behind is progressive innovation that must not stop, besides new model give manufacturers chances to improve and creat redesign to meet various preferences.

It is actually an unsustainable late stage capitalism business practice that a lot of manufacturers now practice

And as op pointed out, one of the key outcomes is that very little differences beterrm successive models and poorly baked innovations that are pushed out before they have been fully tested leading to the phenomenon called paid beta testing where the users of a new product are the ones actually testing it

That is how you get bendgate, exploding Samsung phones and poorly optimized software.

I think Africa and India are the last frontier to sell flashy/trending products due to their population and hopefully growing middle class. Mass market focused companies have saturated audience in developed countries.

Do you expect them to manufacture a phone and fold their hands for the next five years?

It is your decision to change or not to change your phone every year.

iPhone 18 lineup was released this year, it doesn't mean older models automatically becomes obsolete. In fact older models down to iPhone 11 series (a 7 year old device) can still be upgraded to the latest iOS 27.

There are phones update every year including ios versions and all. Not only apple does that samsung also does it. I currently use Samsung s23. Now s26 and s26 ultra is out. Of course there is a major upgrade in software. Change is contant.

I no care! this Samsung wey i dey use since 2015 nothing wrong with it. I go still use am till 2031 and pass it on to my pikins. Nonsense! Iphone.



My former landlord Indian man wey get 68 houses along my street na old Nokia im still dey use and still drive his old Volvo. Na im children dey waste im moni dey buy irrelvant things like Rolce Royce, Bentley, Ferrari and Lambogini.

Nobody forced you to buy the latest model, I have been using my iPhone 14 Pro for years now and only going to change it to the iPhone 18 Pro this year. You can change your phone every 3 to 5 years and not miss out on much of the tech involved, those who feel the need to upgrade every year seriously have a low self-esteem problem.

This is something many people don’t realize. Apple are the only phone makers that are not greedy. Funny right? Yes, contrary to the popular sentiment that they are the ones ripping us off, Apple aren’t. The Android makers are the ones who fit perfectly into this narrative. Apple make their phones annually in a way and pattern that don’t render their immediate predecessor units obsolete. i.e, since you own the iPhone 15 Pro Max, you genuinely have no reason to upgrade to the 16 pro max unless you just got tired of it and if you own the 16 PM or 17PM, you’ve got nothing to do with the 18PM because they are basically the same and Apple are the only company that make it obvious that their newly released flagships are meant mainly for their users who are still using their older models. Android on the other hand can give you a phone today and by next week, the phone already has successors that are 20 times better than the one in your hand That your expensive, sweet baby that you bought last week is already being rendered obsolete and old-schooled😂 Samsung is now doing the right thing by emulating the Apple’s pattern and as such, there are not much differences between their recently released flagships. Right now if you are using the S24U or S25 Ultra, you genuinely have no reason to get the s26 ultra if your older units aren’t broken and if you know what you are doing.
This way, Apple save people more money. Apple’s Lisa Jackson mentioned it herself in 2018 that because iPhones are made to last, you can keep your phone for as long as possible.
New models aren’t designed to significantly outclass their immediate predecessors and this is why iPhones produced even 10 years ago are still more relevant than any of their Android competitors released that same year.

It's a market tractegy To make dress sales to remain at the top. Not everyone buy new phone every year. Some every 2 or 4 years. Do the pay that bought last year and 2. Will likely not buy the new one. Those people that buys used phones are likely to upgrade to next in line while also trading their hold to others. The market is in segment.
