Let me tell you why every southeasterner is seeing Umahi as an ijiot and a shortsighted efulefu.

With Obi, the Igbos have a realistic chance of presidency in about 7 months.

With Tinubu the Igbos can only hope for presidency in 12 years time; with no guarantee.

With Atiku the Igbos can only hope for presidency in 8 years time with no guarantee.

Now, tell me the choice you would make as a sensible Igbo person.
When that 12 years or 8 years you talk about comes around, another reason why the south easterners are 'unfit' will arise again.

Then his likes will join a long line of victims from the late Alex Ekwueme to the ultra liberal, ultra cosmopolitan Rochas Okorocha who was told he did not 'do enough' to warrant widespread acceptance from the 'owners of Nigeria'.

No south easterners will ever do enough unfortunately.

This thing has been a recurring theme since the civil war across both civilian and military regimes. Nigeria has refused to move on.

No wonder Una still Dey political wilderness……how far have obi gone now, since he is doing it alone? grin even almighty buhari with all his regional influence still had to team up with Tinubu to become president…..Una never learn anything grin

No single region can produce a president without an alliance with another region. That theory was already proved in 2023 and Obi did not win. Why does he continue to do the same thing the same way while expecting a different result?

I'm not Igbo, first and foremost. I'm only going by what I was taught in school and fairness..I wasn't taught that alliances determined the political turn and entitlement. I was thinking it should be according to the "major groups" and not minority to rule. As we were made to believe.

Umahi, Soludo and all the other Southeastern politicians are only against Peter Obi because they want to be considered for VP in 2031. The problem is that APC will not consider someone from the Southeast as VP in 2031 if the party fails to get substantial votes from the region. They are however right in saying that the Southeast as a region will have to align with one other major region to get into power. The coalition presented the shortest and easiest possible path to bring that into fruition while having a foot in the corridor of power as VP but Obi chose to walk away to run solo. 4 years or even 8 years is a very short time in politics. When you play politics at the national level in a highly diverse country like Nigeria, you have to also put your regional interests into consideration. Otherwise, just go be a businessman or try other endeavours.
Obi will likely come second if it's rigged and 1st if it's free and fair.... Atiku will come second or third depending on if it's rigged or not

Oh, so it’s actually turn-by-turn!? And there was i thinking it was the sole preserve of the Yoruba and Fulani…with the occasional deviation from the script to fool the naive rest into thinking they belong and are equals with the hegemonic alliance! Forgive me for being so forward and presumptuous! shocked

Pray, since he’s in the know, could Umahi furnish us with the appointed time for it to be the turn of Ndigbo?….A people we’re told form the 3rd leg of the tripod on which Nigeria stands! Probably they wanna make it 2066….as in to make it one solid and unequivocal century! smiley

You’re spot on bros! Don’t mind the emilokan acolyte with a misplaced sense of entitlement who responded to you before i did! His sort don’t have fairness in their limited vocabulary, and they wouldn’t recognise it if it walked up to them and deservedly punched their lights out! smiley

So in your warped thinking, Peter Obi's ability to convince Kwankwanso of all people to run with him does not represent an alliance with another region?

You know, you don't need to sound dumb because you are supporting Atiku to win.

Political commentaries is not all about pushing out comments on a platform like this but doing so with objectivity and common sense.

You cannot be criticizing APC and Tinubu but at the same time be doing the very thing they are doing by believing that it is either your way or the high way.

Atiku has shown manifest incapacity to coalesce the opposition to a single force so he should try his luck on his own and stop looking for an opportunity to ride on Obi's popularity to win power.

Oga, this is not about Igbo. These political gladiators are speaking for themselves.

Mr. Peter Obi won more votes in 2023 than either Tinubu or Atiku. I understand that the real issue here is Mr. Obi potentially deputizing a man he defeated in the last election, someone who, at this point, does not appear to have a viable path to winning without the active support of Nigeria’s most popular presidential candidate at the moment.

Let’s allow the voters to decide at the polls in a free, fair, and credible election. We can come back afterward and review the results.

Umaih is arguably one of the smartest politician from eastern region. One thing we should all understand is that politics is a game of interest, all the political actors now are playing the game with their personal interest above public interest.

The Honourable minister is right in what he said. Tinubu must finish his eight years tenure.

Nigerians suffered insecurity and economic hardship under the north for 8 years. And are currently suffering a worst fate under the south and some of you are fixated on where the president originated from. Blacks!

My point exactly!

A wise man learns from what is happening to others.

We have long list of Igbos who have tried to align in the past and got nothing from it.

So, it will be stupid of Peter Obi to toe that same line.

If the thumbs of northerners will break if they thumbprint for an Igbo man then let Tinubu continue.
