There is already a Supreme Court judgement to this effect (Ukeje v Ukeje, 2014) in which the lead judge Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour (yes, the uncle to LP guber aspirant in 2023) ruled that no matter the circumstances of a female child's birth, she is fully entitled to an inheritance from her late father's estate. The Court declared that traditional Igbo customary laws disinheriting female offspring violate Section 42(1) and (2) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, which prohibits discrimination based on gender or circumstances of birth. It applies to both movable and immovable (land, buildings, etc) property, even where there is no will. Anyone who denies a female child inheritance on the basis of gender is breaking the law and it carries a 4 year prison sentence, a N200,000 fine or both (Anambra). Some states have heftier prison sentences. |

socoharley:oga, the Supreme Court has already ruled on this matter since 2014. Even a girl child born out of wedlock can claim her share of her father's property once paternity is proven. I have female kids and their inheritance is as secure as day and night follow each other. |

stagger:No qualms but be sure it will pass on to the men they marry. I will only give a good education to a girl child and a huge parting cash gift when she gets married.

TheStoriesOfMan:If Biafra day is not enough then so be it. The sit at home created insecurity and social vices in the east. Since governor Soludo and Peter Mbah stood against that nonsense, relative peace have returned |
| Re: Anambra Govt Begins Crackdown On Those Denying Women Their Right To Inheritance by TheStoriesOfMan: 4:22pm On Sep 29 |
DennisEche:The insecurity was created by state actors refusing to do the right thing and non-state actors exploiting the situation to cause mayhem. The governors of the SE have realized that parapoism doesn't pay in the long run,so the state actors are trying to align with the top to bring "development" to the SE hence the calm and peace. |

FSBoperator:Absolutely. No one they focus unilateral hatred on more than the Yorubas even as we don't have their time nor interest in them or their land. Their hatred of us is completely unrequited. They are a people in pain. I pity them. |

Sometimes I laugh at Ibo women that support Biafra. If Biafra is achieved, women are in top list of people that will be subjugated to serious terror.. Below is the list of people what will be must hunted if Biafra is achieved In no particular order: 1. Igbo women 2. Igbo Muslims 3. Ebonyi people. |
