Technically we dont have an NFF as we speak. The NSC and whoever better hurry up and liase well enough with FIFA and CAF to have us get a substantive executive football body in place abeg.

Meetings with FIFA have been held. The delays in next steps hurt.

Let’s do the math:

4 games left for both of us.

We win all our remaining games, which gives us 15 points.

Guinea Bissau win 2, lose 1, and draw 1 = 7 points + their current 6 points = 13 points.

The Super Eagles then win the group and qualify for the 2027 AFCON 🦅

If Chelle fails to qualify us for AFCON,then he is no any better than his predecessors,Finidi and JPes.
He was given a lifeline to qualify us for WC,all he had to do is beat DR CONGO,he failed.

Now he has incurred a loss that could potentially knock us out of AFCON.

His tactics is too attack minded with lean midfield, it can never work with this type of players we parade, especially without Osimhen.
He knows that the only dependable attacker he has is Osimhen,if he is not available, he should learn to adjust his formation to accommodate more midfielders.

We are not going anywhere with the likes of Bruno Onyekachi,an intelligent left back is needed in this team.

This Turkish league is affecting Ndidi.

Osimhen knows he is the most important player of this generation, he should try everything possible to always make himself available for our important matches please.

Maybe the older players should give way for younger ones, let us start afresh with the likes of Frederick,Fernandez, Zodack, etc, with the exception of Osimhen,Bassey, maybe Iwobi.
I'm just tired of watching this set of players.

people when dey fixated on next AFCON crown don carry scientific calculator

solonnachi:
Thank God that Madagascar could only manage a 1-1 draw with Tanzania to keep us in 2nd place. Now we need to win all our remaining matches and hope that Madagascar draws with Guinea Bissau in their next game.

Guinea Bissau - 6pts +5
Nigeria- 3pts -2
Madagascar- 1pt -1
Tanzania- 1pt -2

The performances we saw from Nigeria at the Afcon have given Eric Chelle a grace period, but he needs to start learning from these mistakes. He really got it wrong against Zimbabwe, and I believe he was tactically outmaneuvered in the semi-finals against Morocco and was also tactically outcoached against DR Congo in the playoffs.

The Madagascar coach won the tactical battle in Uyo, and he was outcoached today as well. He needs to be more flexible in his tactics, and he needs to start learning from his mistakes. He does not seem to be a fast learner, in my opinion. There are players on this team that he should have phased out, and the fact he is still inviting players like Kelechi Iheanacho shows me that he has not learned his lessons. Stop inviting Raphael Onyedika; if you don't rate him, and will mostly play in the diamond formation. You should have used that spot for another midfielder.

Dude, please change the personnel that have constantly failed this nation in the last 8 to 10 years. I don't really understand what the likes of Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Ajayi, Osayi, and Sanusi are still doing in this team. He should have figured out by now that these players are not getting us the World Cup ticket in Africa.

Playing in Africa is hard. The pitches and playing conditions will always not be ideal; this is why you need to have players with the mentality to fight through these adversaries. When you are playing on a world-class pitch in Morocco or the Ivory Coast, the game is entirely different from playing on a goat farm pitch in Congo, Burkina Faso, or Guinea-Bissau. To qualify for the World Cup, we will need to go to places like Guinea-Bissau and grind out results.

To be successful in qualifying for major competitions in Africa, you have to have the mental strength to fight through adversaries. What we have seen over the past 8 years from some of these bunches is that they crumble under difficult conditions. There are simply no dogs in them. They are just soft.

Eric Chelle needs to start cleaning house because Nigerians will be on his case if he fails to pick up 6 points in November. If the highlighted names I mentioned earlier are still on this team and playing significant minutes when the 2030 World Cup qualifying cycles begin, Nigeria will not be at the World Cup in 2030.

Diavolo:
I just hope today is the day Chelle dumps this diamond formation. Based on the players we have a 352 is a far better fit. He still gets his 2 strikers up front. Iwobi is supported by 2 box to box midfielders that provide the legs. The wingbacks provide the width and crosses. Lookman can be played in his best position which is a SS just like in Atlanta under Giasperini alongside Osimhen rather than using his on the wings or as an AM. Then bassey , Nwaiwu and Fredrick's with Nwaiwu in the middle.

Nwabali is usually very dependable, but his reflexes were shit yesterday at crucial times. No saving attempt for any of the 3 goals!

Similar situation with the Madagascar goal. Dunno if he's still depressed with his earnings and trying to "match fix" for a life-changing pay day?

Even Iwobi, you can just be strolling on the field giving passes alone in Africa games

Coach Chelle is too one-dimensional. He is obsessed with the 4-4-2 diamond and reverts to a 4-2-3-1 with a double pivot when chasing games. Even the Moroccan coach said that as long as you isolate Iwobi and cover the middle holes, the Eagles have no other plan for penetrating a low block team. We are the Chelsea of Africa!

Yeah. We are too predictable as a team. Our coaches have being like this for years. I don't tire. Just try another system/player

that’s the problem with Chelle, too attack minded always no matter the opponent

Games like this the best would hv to sit back a bit and hit on counters but left for Chelle he will want to accommodate 5 attackers in the starting 11 with a thin midfield of two
This is the best comment so far . Why so many attackers in a game you needed more compact midfielders ? Does it means Ndidi is the best defensive midfielder in the whole Nigeria ? He got his selection wrong . Bruno and Osayi are not playing regularly at their clubs . Until selection is based on current forms more defeats loading

but jokes apart, football in gambia has improved significantly. They have good youth recruitment system. You can even see the effect by the recent qualification from wafu A u17, beating Senegal in the finals. I think it was one of their academics that bayern bought one sengalese. If na to borrow all the LED display board in neighboring Ogun state(Remo stadium) and come install, no wahala🤣....na 5k capacity Uyo take pass Teslim Balogun and maybe the beautiful exterior stadium design of Uyo....But as for pitch/turf excellence I really don't like that Uyo's turf...maybe it's cos of the 1960 NFF streaming camera I may be wrong though...this new newly renovated Teslim looks cool abeg and I'm sure the 25k capacity will be filled to the brim

I wanna see that Bewene,Naiwu,Benjamin Frederick pairing with Bassey at the defense...we need young boys that wanna make name abeg...all those Ajayi should be retiring alongside with Ekong, even Osayi...Since after Afcon 2023 Ola Aina has been playing rubbish for super eagles, since after Lookman won the AFPOTY he has been playing rubbish in super eagles, nobody should come and bug me with "Lookman is a tournament player" baba Lookman and Akor thrived at Afcon simply because of Osimhen's presence...go and watch all our Afcon from 2023 to 2025, Osimhen's darting runs and bullying runs draws defense to him leaving space for Akor/Lookman to have a good Afcon campaign...abeg bring in Femi Azeez,Zadok Yohana let's young hungry boys come and show themselves biko.

Just watch as all of them will go back to their clubs now and start scoring mumu goals especially that girl striker with pink lips...

I don't even wanna talk about the Russia friendly.. Iheanacho has been scoring for Bursapors, just put him vs Russia, na so he go dey open mouth like elede

Yeah yesterday's result has now eroded whatever goodwill fans had for him courtesy of his AFCON performance earlier in the year.

I back him to turn things around but he should know that the honeymoon is officially over.

If Nigerians could drag Rohr, Amodu, and even Keshi who achieved something tangible for us so Chelle should know he's nothing special to be above criticism.

minsfelix2:
Except some massive turn around is done, walai Chelle has really dented the love many has for him with this shambolic display...3-0 is too much from a Minnow, he has shattered the little hope Nigerians we're beginning to have for super eagles walai... Except he beats Tanzania home and away mercilessly before people can love him again

Na Akor o I saw that unfortunate sequence.

Can't honestly explain why almost all our players and national teams are crap at the moment.

If we were getting thrashed by Morocco, CIV, and Senegal it would be easier to stomach but losing against teams with limited talented compared to ourselves is nearly unforgivable.

Amedino99:
This is the worst performance i have ever seen under chelle. Pitch takes like 50% of the blame but simon overhitting a simple cross was too much for me to watch. There was even a play where we got of the ball via a stray pass from the guineans, 2 on 2 and the goat on the ball (usor or tolu) failed to do a simple forward pass and passed to the defender instead. It was as if the match was an audition of who can play the most rubb*sh and all our players were willing participants.

All my anger is now out..its calm. We already missed the world cup, male and female. We are fine, missing Afcon wont be any different. We look forward to the russia and November games.

Oga with Chelle diamond formation yesterday,Ilenikhena would do nothing and only Osimehn would have tried..... very porous midfield that gave nothing to the attack and opened the defenders to costly mistakes...Ndidi,Oyenka and Iwobi messed things up and tactically Chelle was exposed, nothing stopped Uzor from starting since Chuckwueze wasn't available, removing Awo instead of Akor?Ajayi shouldn't have started second half,Nwaiwu a local boy would have done the needful on that bad pitch, very terrible match from eagles

I understand the logic of your last paragraph, but what can you do when the supposed elite goalkeeper playing in a top 5 league also drops average performances for the national team?

EElopa:
Dude, I agree with you on Ndidi, but I completely disagree with you on Iwobi. Alex Iwobi is the least of Nigeria's problems. Wilfred Ndidi, even in his prime, was neither a ball-playing nor a ball-carrying midfielder. He hides from the ball due to his limited ability with the ball at his feet. In his prime he made up these shortcomings with his V12 engine heart, world-class athleticism, and Jelaff legs that allowed him to intercept balls and win aerial duels and one-on-one battles in the midfield. It made him one of the top 10 defensive midfielders in the world back then. That leg and the V12 engine heart are gone, and he is now a complete liability for this team. Eric Chelle needs to develop the balls and let Ndidi simply concentrate on his club career. I don't see what he brings to the table now. His presence limits our ability to dominate the midfield due to his lack of ball-playing skills. When you have Ajayi and Ndidi on a team, it makes it very difficult to play smooth football due to the fact that both of these players simply cannot manipulate the football.

I am also still shocked that nobody on this message board has said anything about the stinker Ademola Lookman has dropped this window. Ademola Lookman was as bad as any player on the field in Uyo and in today's game. I cannot wait for the arrival of Femi Azeez, Yohanna, and the young German kid, Onyeka. Ademola Lookman needs to earn his place in the supereagles. Performances from him like he did this window should have him warming the bench next to Eric Chelle for a while. I have never seen or spoken to any African out here in the states that really see Lookman as an elite player. Most of them simply view him as a good player, and I am beginning to see why. How can I really view you as a world-class player when you are a NO SHOW for Nigeria on games that involved world powers like Losotho, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Benin, Rwanda, Madagascar, and Guinea-Bissau

Finally, If you have a high IQ and you can logically think, it will make absolutely zero sense to you why a goalkeeper who could not find a club even in Tanzania should be benching a goalkeeper who is a starter for a mid-table Serie A team, and Juventus and Inter Milan made an inquiry on him this offseason.
