I have an unpopular opinion that may ruffle feathers but i will say it nonetheless

If we want a thriving midfield, with good ball carriers and excellent passers with a keen mind for the game, we need to only go for players with proper academy background in European countries. The likes of Iwobi, Iroegbunam etc

These your naija boys learnt football via trial and error - playing on the streets and just mastering physicality and dribbling. They lack a proper football education and it shows when they have to play a tactically disciplined side or a top side

Things like:
When to pass
Mastering space and timing
How to go for tackles rightly
How to use the "third eye"
Properly playing with your back to the defense as a DM
How to correctly interpret the coach's instructions
ETC..

These boys don't know these things. It was pure talent and grace that brought them to Europe but now, they are failing. They lack proper football Education

If you think i am lying, how many CMs have we produced from Nigeria in the last 10 years that has gone on to be world renowned since Mikel Obihuhhuh? And that's because Mikel at least is a product of a football academy which is pepsi football academy

The other ones you can't really trace their roots to proper education. So they lack intelligence and just play "anywhere belle face" footballe

You can blame Chelle all you want but these players can't give what they don't have. Personally, I'll say leave Iwobi and drop everybody else from that midfield entirely from the team. They have nothing to offer. The same goes for Bruno Onyeamechi whose head is big but his mind is little like that of a mentally-challenged kid
The average Nigerian football fan doesn't care about football technicality. All they know is physicality and pace. That's all they care about. Always coming up with the cliche excuse of "This is Africa. Football is played differently in Africa".

Like I keep saying, when it comes to football, technicality will always defeat physicality at least 99% of the time.

Run as fast as you want and foul as many players as you want. If you don't know what to do with the ball before and when you eventually receive it, you're not doing much more than a headless chicken.

Dude, I agree with you on Ndidi, but I completely disagree with you on Iwobi. Alex Iwobi is the least of Nigeria's problems. Wilfred Ndidi, even in his prime, was neither a ball-playing nor a ball-carrying midfielder. He hides from the ball due to his limited ability with the ball at his feet. In his prime he made up these shortcomings with his V12 engine heart, world-class athleticism, and Jelaff legs that allowed him to intercept balls and win aerial duels and one-on-one battles in the midfield. It made him one of the top 10 defensive midfielders in the world back then. That leg and the V12 engine heart are gone, and he is now a complete liability for this team. Eric Chelle needs to develop the balls and let Ndidi simply concentrate on his club career. I don't see what he brings to the table now. His presence limits our ability to dominate the midfield due to his lack of ball-playing skills. When you have Ajayi and Ndidi on a team, it makes it very difficult to play smooth football due to the fact that both of these players simply cannot manipulate the football.

I am also still shocked that nobody on this message board has said anything about the stinker Ademola Lookman has dropped this window. Ademola Lookman was as bad as any player on the field in Uyo and in today's game. I cannot wait for the arrival of Femi Azeez, Yohanna, and the young German kid, Onyeka. Ademola Lookman needs to earn his place in the supereagles. Performances from him like he did this window should have him warming the bench next to Eric Chelle for a while. I have never seen or spoken to any African out here in the states that really see Lookman as an elite player. Most of them simply view him as a good player, and I am beginning to see why. How can I really view you as a world-class player when you are a NO SHOW for Nigeria on games that involved world powers like Losotho, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Benin, Rwanda, Madagascar, and Guinea-Bissau

Finally, If you have a high IQ and you can logically think, it will make absolutely zero sense to you why a goalkeeper who could not find a club even in Tanzania should be benching a goalkeeper who is a starter for a mid-table Serie A team, and Juventus and Inter Milan made an inquiry on him this offseason.
Good post but your last paragraph...Okoye came to camp when?see there are things we just need to be factual of,not always being emotional

If Okoye want eagles number one he should man up,giving excuses when it was cleared for him to be number one.

He excused himself from Afcon, again was doing fashion shows when we have two important matches despite being our number one keeper but you expected Chelle to give him number one just like that over Nwabali and Okonkwo who are in camp already sweating abi, it's not done.

Pls tell Okoye to be serious with eagles job.Yes he is playing in seria A which is plus for us.

Pls can he do that with German national team, telling them he has promotional club photo shoot during international games.

Sincerely Okoye not at fault but Chelle, you don't agree to such arrangements.Dueing Afcon Chelle agreed to Okoye demands and left him out of his squad, your top European club goalkeeper.

80% of the Nigeria super eagles players are bench warmers in Their clubs

We CAN'T win the afcon with such players

Did Victor Osimhen travel to Guinea Bissau with the team ?
Chances of qualifying not so high because of the goal difference
Guinea Bissau will be motivated to win their remaining games after what they did to Nigeria on that potato farm grin

If na to borrow all the LED display board in neighboring Ogun state(Remo stadium) and come install, no wahala🤣....na 5k capacity Uyo take pass Teslim Balogun and maybe the beautiful exterior stadium design of Uyo....But as for pitch/turf excellence I really don't like that Uyo's turf...maybe it's cos of the 1960 NFF streaming camera I may be wrong though...this new newly renovated Teslim looks cool abeg and I'm sure the 25k capacity will be filled to the brim
I love the colourful design of this stadium. It will be excellent for hosting secondary school inter-house sports

With head to head, even if we win our 3 other matches, we’d need to beat Guinea-Bissau by four clear goals to qualify ahead of them. Except they drop points elsewhere. Two matches in and we are already in a precarious position.

Chelle is always obsessed with committing too much attack wise in his preferred diamond setup, even in few instances where he switches to a flat 4-4-2 game plan, we are left with Wilfred Ndidi as the only defensive minded player in midfield and we know ndidi is way beyond his prime years...
I'm worried about his lack of plan B ,he seems hellbent on playing 2 strikers up front, while ignoring midfield solidity.. notice the ease at which Madagascar cut through our central areas..
I hope moving on he learns from this, if not we'll always struggle against good tactical sides

Unpopular reaction to your unpopular opinion. The players you mentioned are just a tad above average by European standards. Unfortunately, we can't do better. The best of them will choose the other countries. Nigeria is currently merely a dumping ground. Besides, the world is fast becoming a global village in all facets, which means we can bring the fundamental technical training programs home. The NFF should be looking to support the domestic academies in this capacity. If your focus is to bring back foreign-born players, at the very least you will lose to the Europeans because the best in those technical abilities you mention play for them. Besides we were whooped by a team nowhere as talented. Clearly, technical ability is the least of our problems. No excuses. There's no reason to lose this badly.
Bros, Morocco isn't getting whopped by Guinea bissau on that pitch

What characterised Morocco is what I said there - a very good understanding of the fundamentals which one can only get by being educated properly in a proper academy wither home or abroad

Your onyeka, onyedika and other carpenters lack this

I'll take a team of above average European stars over local champions anytime, anyday

B7t please what exactly is Austin Eguaveon's role in that sports setup

As technical adviser. the national teams have performed poorly.

A honorable man would've resigned but Austin isn't I guess

His only role is the rinse repeat cycle of caretaker manager for any team without a coach using outdated tactics and shady players

We have to start holding him accountable too

Eric Chelle i beg you in jesus name can you please move away from Ndidi and Onyeka. There is nothing of any substantial we can achieve on the global stage with Ndidi and Onyeka playing midfield for Nigeria. Emotions are high today but like i said earlier this could actually be a disguise in the sky. Going forard

Goalkeepers
Maduka Okoye
Author Okoronkwo
Stanley Nwabili
First choice should be a fight between Okoye and Maduka. If a good prospect emerges or become available, drop Nwabali. Staley Nwabali is old and is not really getting any better.

Defenders

Right Backs
Starter - Ola Aina
Back up - He will need to get a backup for Ola Aina.
Candidates Bewene Abdullahi, Christian Akpan and Ryan Alebiosu

Left Backs
Starter - Bruno Onyemachi: I don't really rate him highly, but he is the best we currently have.
Back up - Zaidu Sanusi: If he is on form, I don't really mind him starting.
- I will watch the new left back Issac James to see what he brings to the table. I am completely open for him to become a starter if he impresses.

Center backs
Starters : Benjamin Fedricks and Calvin Bassey
Back ups Emmanuel Fernandez Chibuike Nwaiwu and Victory Akpe

Midfielders
Eric Chelle needs to fix this midfield: Alex Iwobi, Dele Bashiru, Tochukwu Nnadi, Ebenezer Akinsamiro, Alhassan Yusuf, Rafael Onyedika. If we can get Francis Onyeka and Lesley Ugochukwu then I will drop Rafael Onyedika and Yusuf.

Wingers
Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Yohanna Zadok, and Femi Aziz

Strikers
Victor Oshimhen
George Illenikhena
Gift Orban
I agree with you almost 100%

Zaidu is a taboo please. With all due respect, never mention that guys name again among professionals

Ebenezer akinsanmiro isn't as good as you guys tout him to be. I'm not seeing the hype honestly

Al hassan yusuf in 2026?? Haba na giy!!!!!!

This crop of eagles are just too lazy, toothless, cowards, and lacks character abeg.
If everyone can add that aggression we see in defense like Bassey and in attack like Osimhen we won't be losing 3-0 to GNB...if it were CIV or Senegal beating us 3-0 I will agree it's due to them having players playing in top leagues against our boys playing in weak leagues

I was really worried, when I saw the list of players call, with only 4 midfielders. The coach is still relying on onyeka, ndidi, and iwobi midfield trio, because they somehow exceed in Afcon.
It needs to start injecting new players in the midfield.
I will always start frank onyeka instead of ndidi in DM.
Onyeka cover more ground, and tackle very well.
Anyway, let's keep our fingers cross, and hope we somehow get the ticket from this group.

I love the colourful design of this stadium. It will be excellent for hosting secondary school inter-house sports
Baba leave color abeg...at this point we are particular about the turf/pitch standard, what we need now is for the boys to play on standard and well trimmed lush green grass...
If Teslim have it abeg make dem go their

Bro did you see the cameo appearance Ilenikhena had yesterday...imagine him starting that match, we would have lost but George would have registered 1 or 2goals...Awoniyi,Tolu,Akor are just toothless strikers them no sabi
Thank God the young boy didn't started, some would said "Oh, sincerely am not really blaming the players cuz looking at the team tactically yesterday we need someone like Chuckwueze to hold on to ball drawing players to himself and reason why I don't know why Chelle failed to start Uzor.

In the first half Ajayi wasn't and our local boy Nwaiwu who started from sanding ground would have done better in the second half.....Ndidi and Oyenka were just busy doing nothing and Iwobi cannot be doing passes alone..our midfielders were off.

From the Russia Friendly List....

In Goal, I hope Chelle will be brave here and risk dropping Nwabali. Let us see Atata or James. I dont get what Nwabali's problem is with "diving" all of a sudden.

Okoye was the plan for this AfconQs window obviously with Nwabali to play the friendly. The list reveals that much but then the Club Media Duty of Maduka and the "wait to see Cardi B" again happened... and Chelle switched from Okoye to Nwabali for the qualifiers.

With Bruno's mess at LB vs GNB, Isaac James just made his audition a must watch. He will likely start vs Russia ahead of Kenneth Igboke. Will he fail or will he shine? Time will tell.

At RB, Bright struggled all game vs GNB so it would be nice to see Abdullahi Bewene again. Bewene's debut went very well vs Poland and he was also solid when he replaced Christian Akpan vs Portugal in the 2nd 45. A chance to further reinforce his place as a solid RB option.

At CB, Bassey's best partner remains Benjamin Frederick who is just returning from a troubling knee problem. So in Bassey's absence, it is either Frederick starts here alongside Fernandez OR Fernandez pairs Akpe Victory with Frederick to come in later.

In midfield, may Chelle spare us the Ndidi/Onyedika show and unleash the new guys. Already spoken on this earlier.

We need to see these lads in action.

Wilfried and Ridwan are CDM profiles.

Chibuzo Nwoko is a left footed versatile midfielder who can play DM, CM/Box-to-box.

Stephen Fumen Michael is a CM.

Mubarak is a CAM/Box-to-Box CM. Top workrate too.

Aderemi Adeoye is a local talent playing in the NPFL and bound to form the core of the U23 Eagles midfield due to availability. He is a CDM with setpiece ability.

In attack, bench Akor. I no wan see am. Blend the young lads like Edokpolor (a forward who can play centrally and on the channels) and Umar Abubakar with Simon Moses and let us see.

Abdullahi Umar... I have seen him but I dont exactly rate him bigger than Stanley Iheanacho and other U23 forwards but we will see.

Kelechi Iheanacho? Well, with the nonsense shown by Lookman and Akor lately, it makes you wonder. Lol

In all, this Russia game is a game to properly assess the new guys most especially at LB and in midfield. Really dont care about the result at this point.
Burst my head bro

I don't always agree with you but his breakdown was a masterpiece!!!

I'm highly pained but we move

Also, what formation would you prefer chelle uses. That diamond formation is archaic, you know
