Wake up call for Sekou Chelle.

It is a good this loss happened sooner that later.

Some players in the team need to be phased out. After missing out on back -to-back world cups..an AFCON failure shouldn't be a big deal. Lol

He should start preparing for 2030 and beyond. Our midfield depth is still quite an issue though injuries played it's part during this window.
He won't even think of staying, Nigeria heading into 2030 qualifiers would be a hell to stay in and coach for him..dem no born am well to miss Afcon and still have the guts to remain as coach...na Odegbami and ex eagles players(80's/90's set)go first bring out their pepeye mouth to finish him

Nigerian fans are not helping matters.
Imagine calling Wilfred Ndidi all kinds of names. Wilfred Ndidi is one of our standout performers. Which midfielder in those two games overshadowed him. He was not overshadowed playing against the likes of Vitinha and Neves, it is those players from Madagascar and Guines Bissau that will overshadow him.

You guys are not even grateful for the player: Wilfred Ndidi.

If Wilfred Ndidi happens to come upon some of the rubbish (which are even lies and distorted facts) the people he represents are saying about him, I hope he won't be crestfallen.

Our problem is the system. They get a lot of things wrong.

When I think of the Super Eagles today, these are the players that come to mind for me... the players that make me wanna watch them. The Players that carry the true aura of the team presently in terms of high-end technical quality, intensity, hunger and more.

#1 Victor Osimhen (The Leader)

#2 Calvin Bassey (Defensive General)

#3 Alex Iwobi (Midfield General)

#4 Ademola Lookman (but he has been crap for the last 2 games)

#5 Samuel Chukwueze (love him, hate him... he is still one of our creative heads when he gets going in his elements. Chelle did us dirty benching this lad for 90mins vs GNB)

#6 Benjamin Frederick (Damn! This kid's knee injury really denied us something extra at the Afcon. He plays with his heart and has such a high ceiling)

#7 Ola Aina (has always been a reliable even though he was a bit timid vs Madagascar)

These are the 7 lads. No one else plays with the kind of hunger, intelligence or intensity of at least 6 of these guys. I say 6 because Chukwueze can be off or on but he remains a game changer in clutch moments/games. Showed it vs Benin when we needed 4 goals in the WCQs and did well vs Madagascar.

Every other player is just there. Onyeka is just all brawns, no brains. Ndidi is wasted. Ajayi is slow. Moses Simon is directionless. Nwabali has forgotten how to dive. Okoye models more than he plays football. Bruno is annoyingly unreliable. Bright Osayi scammed us at the Afcon. Onyedika is timid. Tolu is not Super Eagles quality, forget his Ajax showings. Akor is just riding on his Osimhen Chemistry, that's all.... so on and so forth

The laziness and low drive of many of the players yesterday really irked me. Disgusting.

The new ones like Nwaiwu, Fernandez, Femi Azeez, Ilenikhena, Usor, etc have not established themselves in the Super Eagles just yet so we will see.

It is not hard to dump some of these lads and move forward with the aforelisted 7 and a few on probation while bringing in the best of the young talents without further ado. We have a large quality pool but we make it look small because we keep limiting ourselves to the same scope of players that failed to qualify for 2 world cups in a row.

nothing much to overthink, it’s just a bad day at the office, things like this happen in football
Jendor, nobody has beaten us by this scoreline in a competitive game in a long time, not even Argentina, the last time we lost by a 3 goal margin that I recall is at France 1998. My brother it was a bad loss going by our records and standards.

For African teams, hard to recall.

For Non-African teams, Spain beat us 3-0 in the 2013 FIFA Confed Cup even though that was one of Mikel's best ever Midfield performances.

If we hope to qualify for WC 2030 and make an impact there, we have to do away with Ndidi and Onyeka as Iwobi's midfield partners. They are annoyingly limited and offers no true balance in the middle.

We cannot seriously hope to have a midfield of Iwobi, Ndidi and Onyeka 4 yrs from now. Tufiakwa!

If CAF decides to take the hosting rights away from East Africa as been mooted, how does that change the dynamics of the qualifiers?

Where there be 2 qualifiers from the groups containing the 3 East Africans?

Get emotions out it mate. Michael Jordan despite being the greatest basketball to walk the surface of the earth cannot beat any current NBA basketball player today in a 1 v1 action. Father's time is undefeated. Wilfred Ndidi in his prime will get in to the starting lineup of 99 percent of national teams in the world. Intact i had him in my top 5 best defensive midfielders in the world. Leicester city ran him to the ground. Injuries took a toll on him and there are just too many miles in that body and body no be firewood. Ndidi
personally knows he is not the player he once was. It happens to everyone. Victor Osimhen will one day start slowing down. I am not a professional athlete but I used to play ball with these young kids at the gym but as am getting older myself now hanging with these young boys is becoming harder. Ndidi was a baller but the millage in that body of his has caught up with him.

Yeah, thanks. 13 years ago with a Spanish team of Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Ramos and yet we had a great game even with the scoreline. And within Africa, none comes to mind in the past 30 years. 1990 was when Algeria beat us 5-1 in the then AFCON opener in Algeria. So we can't take the loss and collapse lightly. But anyway we have to meuve!!
However, reflecting again, we got lucky against Madagascar, that should have been the wake up call. Please advise Chelle to ditch his two strikers system.
I will be keenly observing the Russia friendly to see our setup.

For sure, four years from now, Ndidi should be at best part of the coaching staff and not playing staff. Nnadi is already on the radar, I think Ebenezer would finally get Chelle's attention somewhat and the other young kids coming up too, David Moses, Mubarak, Anyaosi and any other FBs that's genuinely interested I'm playing for us.

The whole thing is just insane to me. Seyi Ajayi was atrocious against Madagascar. Guinea-Bissau have fast aggressive players and I was thinking Eric Chelle would have started Chibuike Nwaiwu knowing how slow Semi Ajayi is. Like you said the option are there but Eric Chelle is just not making use of them. Ajayi was atrocious, Osayi and Bruno was ass. Why did he not take out Osayi, Ajayi and Bruno and then move Bassey to leftback. Bring in Nwaiwu and Fernandez as center back partners, then introduce Fredrick as the right back. The center forwards were on holidays I would have hook them at halftime bring in Ilenikhena. Instead of bringing Simon i would have brought on Chukwueze.

Feast on Okoye for conceding those goals?Oga don't bully me here😁 even Argentina and Portugal would never allowed Messi and Ronaldo to do a shitty promotional shoot during international games....am not blaming Okoye but Chelle.
Kog45:
Good post but your last paragraph...Okoye came to camp when?see there are things we just need to be factual of,not always being emotional and pls tell me how Nwabali cost us yesterday? and from Okoye profile so far any of those goals would beat him hands down.Okoye don chop 10 goals so far this season.

If Okoye want eagles number one he should man up,giving excuses when it was cleared for him to be number one.

He excused himself from Afcon, again was doing fashion shows when we have two important matches and he is our number one keeper but you expected Chelle to give him number one just like that over Nwabali and Okonkwo who are in camp already sweating abi, it's not done.

Pls tell Okoye to be serious with eagles job
Kog45:
On goalkeeper, pls blame Maduka Okoye and Chelle not Stanley Nwabali,if he made to camp early as agreed between him and Chelle he would have been in goalposts, reason why I said Chelle lacks discipline,he play with these boys too much...eagles camp full of ladies journalists with skimping dresses interviewing our boys, using eagles camp for contents.....and to we fans it seems we are overrating our boys cuz it's cleared now something serious is wrong with our team
One thing about agenda is that it will make you contradict yourself without realising it.

You first said Okoye from his profile will make the same mistakes and there will be no difference. Next you implied that the loss is partly Okoye's fault for not showing up to camp on time, keeping Nwabali as no 1.

What you don't realize is that in the context of the outcome of that match, these two things cannot both be true at the same time.

The scapegoats yesterday were Bruno and Osayi. They messed up big time.

Akor, Lookman, Simon, Usor and George also missed clear chances to score.

Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan plan to sign Calvin Bassey, when his contract runs out at Fulham next summer.

According to CalcioMercato, the Fulham central defender is being tracked by Inter.

The Bassey-Inter Links have always been there but reading this possible "plan" makes sense.

Bassey could follow the path of Taribo West to Milan if this works out.

Honestly, I didn't know this sham of a midfield would last this long before it disgracefully exposed but they held on for quite a while.

This is Idennaa by the way.

Some of the old posters like the Supernerd and Kelz would remember my running battle with Charlesemeka/Papi over my insistence that Iwobi and Ndidi are mediocre players and as long as they continue to feature in that midfield the Super Eagles will never achieve a dime of success. Well , here we are and nothing seemed to have changed. Its still the same gutless and weak legged Iwobi with his partner in crime , Ndidi. We all know that Ndidi started off as a defender before he was converted to defensive midfielder and he held it together for a while with his workaholic nature. He was able to race the entire pitch for ninety minutes , tireless , which made up for his obvious shortcomings in ball playing abilities. Therefore, it was a matter of time before the chics come home to roost. As soon as he started aging his weaknesses were badly exposed. This team performed appreciably well at the last nations cup due to our world class attack and solidity in defense.

And where do we go from here ? I still maintain that this midfield will still not deliver the necessary results, we desperately demand. Iwobi and Ndidi must go for this team to get rescued. We need proper midfield players to execute our games going forward. We certainly don't have midfielders....I thought Nwakali was going to come good but sadly he never made it.

Finally, the Nigerian football is in complete mess. The problem with the super eagles starts with who is the president of the country, then the minister and NFF. We have no football development in this country and no plans to improve. All we do is scan obscure leagues in Europe looking for left overs or mediocre players.

You this man with "coulda not", "woulda not". You mostly ignored the most important part of my post. It's completely independent of whether Morocco gets beat or not. Let's say Morocco beats Guinea Bissau 10 out of 10 times. It doesn't change the fact that our side was far more talented that that team and still got thrashed, which means that there are other important issues that must be addressed to create a consistently dominant team.
Blueelf:
Bros, Morocco isn't getting whopped by Guinea bissau on that pitch

What characterised Morocco is what I said there - a very good understanding of the fundamentals which one can only get by being educated properly in a proper academy wither home or abroad

Your onyeka, onyedika and other carpenters lack this

I'll take a team of above average European stars over local champions anytime, anyday
