Ogborokiri:From some of the comments here, I will advice we take some time to understand how MMFs really work For some of us, what we sometimes perceive as inefficiency in the operation of a MMF may actually be within the acceptable rules and expectations governing fund management. It is important that we understand the fundamentals of how MMFs work and the expectations of the SEC from fund managers. For example, practices such as: - Immediate receipt of redeemable funds - Reinvestment of accrued interest at the end of every month or less than a quarter - Bringing naira to invest in a dollar-denominated fund - Accepting cash or third-party payments are not necessarily the norm in regulated fund management. If an MMF is operated exactly like a bank account, then we need to ask whether it is still serving the purpose for which a collective investment scheme was designed. Some fund managers may provide additional flexibility or alternative arrangements to improve the investor experience. However, these should not automatically be regarded as the standard operating model for all MMFs. Such flexibility may simply be part of a particular fund manager's operating structure, subject to regulatory requirements. There are also situations where fund managers may have to provide explanations and supporting evidence to the SEC to demonstrate that investors' funds remain properly protected despite certain operational arrangements. Where such arrangements cannot be justified within the regulatory framework, the fund manager may ultimately be required to revert to the prescribed norms. For example Norrenberger used to accept naira for dollar fund when they started out as an incentive to help customers who are not able to get dollars but right now they can't do such anymore. Some of the general norms investors should understand include: • Redemption: Redeemable funds may take about 2–3 working days to reach the investor, depending on the fund's structure and applicable processes. This is SEC standard. • Accrued income: Interest/income may be reinvested or paid out according to the fund's stated distribution or accounting cycle, commonly at the end of a quarter. • Currency: Investors are generally expected to invest in the same currency in which the fund is denominated, subject to the fund's approved structure. • Cash: Regulated investment funds generally do not operate on a cash-acceptance basis. • Third-party funding: Funds are generally expected to come from the investor's own account, subject to applicable KYC and regulatory requirements. The key notes: An MMF is an investment product, not a bank account. Therefore, we should understand the regulatory framework and the underlying structure of the fund before concluding that a particular process is inefficient simply because it differs from what we are accustomed to with our bank accounts. Understanding the rules helps us distinguish between actual service deficiencies and legitimate fund management processes. Let's be well guided. Happy Independence Day to all. |

The beauty of this thread right from Inception is creating the atmosphere for people to bare their minds as we all continue our investment journeys. Some people sometimes will be discontented with the services they receive and will voice out. Some it's something simple that needs explanation and once they get it they will calm down. Others will not calm down till they learn with time. However, coming out en mass to attack the opinion of someone that was not pleased with a particular service is inimical not only to that person but even to the thread. I use UCap, First Edge and Stanbic IBTC. I have had the cause to complain about them bitterly around here. That's because I believe I could learn from other people experience. If not I am already matured in the game and know how to get to them directly but still no one is an island. It's a common knowledge that withdrawal and deposits with Stanbic after 12:00pm on working days is most likely going to be treated the next day and on weekends and public holidays will be treated the next working but people still do otherwise and come here every now and then to complain about it and several other things. So what's the fuss about someone complaining that he couldn't get instant withdrawal after explaining to him that it was already past working hours when he applied yesterday and today is public holiday. It should have stopped at that and not questioning his right to complain even when it's clearly that he isn't used to their pattern yet. Abeg make we dey allow people express themselves. |

freeman67:I think you are missing the point. Saying I deposited in a FM by 10pm yet i cant see it reflect on my dashboard, hence this FM is no good” is different from “I deposited after 10pm but cant see it yet, please anyone experienced such?” Notice the nuance between the two stances? A potential investor might read stance 1 and think, oh damn, that FM is no good so let me move elsewhere. Most times such people may even be guests, and they may even be reps for huge institutional investors. Now you have spoilt someone’s business for no reason Demarketing a platform with confidence due to knowledge gap is what we are rallying against. This is far from bullying, but it’s a good thing you spoke in his defense, i also donot like it when it’s 20 Vs 1 |

| Re: Mutual Funds by t33why: 5:39pm On Oct 01 |
blessedchild234:If you didn't have a running account before the update that introduced the managed portfolio, then you cannot. The only option to explore is a direct investment with Trustbanc via the PrimePro app. |

Been following every post and learning, realized you like picking on @creditalert. He's been avoiding you but you just won't stop. Try to avoid him too so you guys won't repeat what you did here earlier in the year that resulted in investors blocking reading words from both of you. Iamblessed8888: |

t33why:noted, but the review on Google no be am oh but I'll try it out. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by t33why: 6:47pm On Oct 01 |
blessedchild234:Do and come give feedback , I'm also reluctant to commit to them sha as I've not conquered the 'update profile' war, and based on user experience from other fund managers, it often becomes an issue in the long-run. I do know there are users here without complaints though. |

Good evening all, I credited Trustbanc account yesterday around 8pm and got a confirmation mail from Trustbanc group of receipt of the fund but it is yet to reflect on the Prime Pro app. Please is it normal or is there any other thing I should do to see the fund on the app Waiting for a response |

londonerr:do they pay quarterly interest because I have not been able to withdraw mine |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Optimer: 9:13am On Oct 02 |
Quoting interest received is not the main thing. Amount invested and the percentage interest are the main thing. When some newbies see 570k+, they might think that the platform is a money doubler without knowing that it is result of huge amount invested Joyleke: |

That's like some 55-60M to accrue that interest. Optimer: |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Skudi: 9:51pm On Oct 02 |
playces:I think the 570k is for the intrest accrued after 3 months which is equivalent to 1 quarter |
| Re: Mutual Funds by CSblackpink(m): 2:02am On Oct 03 |
With the huge amount of capital invested, that return is disappointingly tiny. MMF is essentially designed for capital preservation. My Korean ETF, which holds a capital of 14.7 million, booked a return of 757,000 naira yesterday on a 5% upside gain. I'm still weighing my options: either lock in the realised profit right now, or let the earnings compound further, since daily returns are usually calculated based on the total current portfolio value rather than the initial principal deposit.
