Garri Fest brought food, music, games and Nigerian culture to life in Port Harcourt, with one local favourite taking centre stage — garri.

The highlight of the event was a massive serving of premium soaked garri.

Large quantities of white and yellow garri were poured into a huge drum, followed by bottles of drinks, plenty of groundnuts, sugar and milk. Everything was then mixed together with long wooden paddles as the crowd watched the giant bowl of garri come together.

And just to be clear, this was pure soaking — no cooking involved.

Once the mixture was ready, people served the finished garri into cups and got to taste it for themselves.

It was a simple but memorable celebration of one of Nigeria’s favourite foods, bringing together food, fun and culture in one big gathering.

But what is that alcoholic cream doing there now nowww? What's the health benefit of such a combo? Garri and milk, groundnuts and sugar/honey is already fantastic. Now, why the cream in the mix? Why we dey like to play with our health like this?

Not against alcohol but it doesn't feel right adding it to the mix.

Anyway, I'm no health expert but they should enjoy their celebration wisely.
