eliteautos33:Hi, please, I wanted to follow up on your case. After UKVI acknowledged the procedural errors, were you eventually granted the visa, or are you still waiting for a decision? I’d really appreciate the update. 🙏🏾 |

With regards to my previous post, There was someone on this nairaland that reached out to me privately, saying he could help me adjust my application. And I should pay 10k for him to help me. Please note that you can not make changes to your application after submitting. Don’t fall for any scammer please!!! |

Dear Nairalanders, Please, I don't know if any one of you can answer this question: 1. Are financial bank statements of Fintech Banks now acceptable for Proof of Funds Approval by top embassies like UK, Canada and Italy in Nigeria? 2. I have a relative seeking to travel to study in Finland/Canada starting from year 2031, he is planning to increase his Proof of funds. He currently has 6.5M naira. He is being advised to use PiggyVest but there was a time in 2024 a lot of their users called them "scam" and also lamented that they don't respond to withdrawal issues at/after maturity date with occasional complaints of not being to log in to use the interface after depositing their funds into Piggyvest or out of their subsidiary PocketApp. To attract the best interest rates, he is thinking of locking the 6.5M for a year_6months the minimum but plans to lock it for a year and renew until he is ready by 2031 so that the account balance will grow to a huge amount. In light of the above, do you think it is safe to lock 6.5M for a year on the app, do you think he will be able to withdraw if he decides to move the whole new amount or a portion out after the 6month/365 day (1) year expiry date? How can he move the money out without issues? As a whole or in chunks? Thanks 🙏 |

Oluseun234:2031 is 5 years away na. Haba. If you are so scared, why not go put the money for normal bank? ![]() If I were you, my main concern would be what the GBP value of that Naira I’m ’locking’ will be in 5 years. Person wey lock better money for fixed deposit account in 2019/2020 will tell you how Tilumbu and Bubu help useless that money if he/she were to convert it to GBP today ![]() |

| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Taal17: 3:16pm On Oct 07 |
Oluseun234:2031 is 5 yrs away. Seems this person in risk averse He should 1 . Put 4mil in Treasury bills ( ask his bank if the buy Treasury bills) he can do 6 month rollover with the interest. 2. Put 1.0 mill in Money Market funds ( interest is variable but it's pretty low risk and the you can terminate anytime so it's good for emergencies needs. 3. Change 1.5 million to dollars at the bank and put that money market into a dollar fund with Stanbic Ibtc asset mgt That way he has money in forex earning interest whilst he waits to study. go to any stanbic Ibtc bank and ask for their asset management desk, they will put you through and you'll be fine |

Such an unnecessary response which further goes to show your limited ability to read and assimilate information. I asked for current TAT; so we can estimate when to expect a response. davodyguy: |

Wotowotoman:You are right but in Nigeria of today, is there any other way of steadily increasing your account balance for such a goal except financial investment options. Pls don't bother to even suggest any physical business because we have committed an enormous amount in two hyped types but yielded poor revenues. So my relative is looking at fixed deposits until 2031/32. Honestly we are fed up! ☹️ |

Taal17:Oh many thinks for this laid-out investment portfolio. But to earn interest on converted naira funds to dollars, one has to open a domiciliary account with them right and look for two guarantors using current accounts or what is now the new CBN rule regarding new personal dormicillary accounts? Thanks 🙏 |

Travelling is not this ambiguous, my people, I remember a scenario: we applied for a visit visa, used a bulk money account, borrowed 30 million, and applied for a visa... The visa was rejected, and we had already paid the person till the day we submitted the visa application. Money has been removed from the account, and we already paid. The next day, we said we were reapplying, and we went to VFS and submitted the application. This time, na 200k balance, and the bulk money has left... Visa took 6 Days! APPROVED. Sometimes the things you read online are blabadash. Oluseun234: |

UK Visit Visa for My Mother During My Treatment: Accommodation and Sponsorship Advice Needed Good day everyone. Please, I need advice from people with recent UK visitor visa experience. I live in the UK and I am currently sick and will be undergoing treatment soon. I want to invite my mother from Nigeria for a short visit so she can support and care for me during this period. I work on a contract, and my income will continue during treatment. I will sponsor her flight, food, transport and other expenses. My mother is unemployed and receives regular financial support from me. My current situation is that I am temporarily staying with my aunt. She has enough space in her family apartment for my mother to stay, but I do not pay rent. Therefore, my bank statements do not show rent payments. Please, I would appreciate advice on these questions: 1. Would staying with my aunt instead of renting my own apartment be a problem for the visa application? 2. Can I rent an apartment temporarily for the period my mother will be visiting, or could renting a new apartment shortly before the application raise suspicion? 3. Which option would be stronger: continuing to stay with my aunt and providing her accommodation documents, or renting an apartment in my own name? 4. If my mother stays with my aunt, what documents should we provide? Would a signed accommodation letter, her tenancy agreement or proof of ownership be enough? 5. What documents should I submit to show that my income will continue during treatment and that I can sponsor my mother? 6. Since my mother is unemployed and supported by me, should we include her bank statements and evidence of my regular transfers to her? 7. What documents can we provide to show her ties to Nigeria and her intention to return after the visit? 8. Would a hospital or consultant letter confirming that I am sick and will be undergoing treatment be useful? Thank you. I would especially appreciate advice from anyone who has successfully sponsored an unemployed or retired parent for a UK visit. |

I came across a thread on the Pre-Action Protocol (PAP) for challenging UK visa refusals, and I want to share my experience and say thank you to the poster. I applied for a UK visitor visa on 13 July 2026, but my application was refused on 30 July 2026. What made me question the decision was the claim that I had previously been refused a UK visa for tourism. I had never previously applied for or been refused a UK visa. The only previous visa refusal I disclosed in my application was from Canada. I felt this needed to be challenged because the refusal letter relied on that alleged UK refusal to question my credibility and intentions. Rather than simply accept the decision, I started researching my options and came across your thread explaining the PAP process. I decided to prepare and submit my own letter to the Home Office on 5 October 2026. On 14 October 2026, I received a response confirming that the Home Office would reconsider the refusal dated 30 July. There is no new visa decision yet, and I understand that reconsideration does not guarantee approval. But this is an encouraging development, and I wanted to come back and share the update. Thank you to the poster and creator of this thread for making this information accessible. The particular post on PAP helped me understand that there was a formal process through which I could challenge a decision I believed contained a factual error. Sometimes, sharing knowledge gives someone the courage to ask questions, stand up for themselves, and explore options they didn’t know they had. 🙏🏾 |

| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Wotowotoman: 12:42pm On Oct 14 |
Phav:If your mother is older and you can show that there are funds to take care of her visit, she will most likely get the visa. Nobody refuses an old person visa. Wetin the old person wan japa go do for the abroad? ![]() |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Lawjnr1(m): 2:07pm On Oct 14 |
Wotowotoman:I’m not particularly eager about the visa itself. My primary concern was correcting the inaccurate information on my immigration record, and the decision to reconsider already shows positive progress toward that. The final visa outcome is a separate matter entirely. |
