Thank you. I’m still waiting to be asked to go ahead to book an appointment. I just want to make sure everything is ready before then.
When did you submit?

Do you mean when I joined the queue? That was November 8.
But If it was when I submitted for preliminary review, that was on September 16.

Hi Larry and everyone
Please i have a question.

Were you asked to submit CV, Motivation letter, Reference Letter from employer or any other documents asides the usual compulsory documents listed on the opportunity card for skilled worker portal during preliminary review or on the interview day?

Then about prepared envelope and passport photograph, i heard from student visa group that there’s no need coming with it because they will reject it so you can patronize them. How true is this please

You mean you submitted on the 16th, and you haven’t been asked to book an appointment yet after weeks?

Your CV and Motivation Letter are mandatory supporting documents. Reference letters and evidence of job searching are optional.

For the prepaid envelope and passport photographs, you can get them anywhere as long as they meet the requirements. They are accepted; you don’t have to get them from the Embassy.

Aderonke already gave a clear response above...

I think student visa applicants don't go to the embassy... I think VFS handles their interviews... So, we can't say how they handle prepaid envelope and passport photograph matters...

Medical proffesionals qualify for the chancenkarte as long as your degree is recognised. They will work parttime job like everyone else while working to get licensed since its a regulated profession to practise.
Qualification is stage one,Licensing is stage two.what stage are you?

Thanks bro for your response.
Firstly, my degree is not recognised, so I have to do ZAB, I studied Optometry, I graduated with Doctor of Optometry certificate (OD) while in annabin, it is Bsc. Optometry.
Also, I haven't written IELTS or German language. Do you know any good German language tutor where I can learn easily?
Or What do you advised please?

Optometry is a highly regulated profession in Germany, which completely changes how you must approach your degree recognition and language requirements. Because your career involves direct patient care, a standard ZAB Statement of Comparability (which is only for non-regulated corporate or tech professions) is not the correct pathway.

Instead, you must apply for full Approbation or Berufserlaubnis through the specific medical/health authority of the German federal state where you intend to live and work. During this process, the state authority will manually evaluate your 6-year Doctor of Optometry curriculum against the German equivalent to bridge the gap you see on Anabin.

Your recognised degree qualifies you, then licensing comes afterwords while working parttime.Gernan A1 or English B2 does it for the earliest qualification. If german doesnt do it for you ,you try English for the earliest qualification. When u get there, you can sort yourself out.Qualification doesnt mean you can practise. They are both different scenarios.Different battle grounds.Qualification is a stepping stone.Alless Klar.

Yes, that was the first submission but they requested for more documents from my reference and some corrections. I’ve done the final submission now, so, I’m just waiting for them to get back.

Lol, nothing serious. They requested for reference passport data page and Meldebescheinigung. I also had to do affidavit to support my primary school certificate. My first name isn’t on it.

Thanks a lot,
What you are saying is that I will be needing more than ZAB for my verification, I will look into this too

Congrats in advance. When did you join the waitlist please and when did they open the portal for you to resubmit or edit your application? It would be seriously helpful to know the timelines.

You can receive the visa which allows you work parttime but cant practise, till u go thro the process and get your license as a regulated proffesion.Licensing and qualification are mutually exclusive.

Thanks. I was under the impression that it is an important requirement for chancekarte application. I do have a Goethe A1 language certificate from 2018 and a B1 certificate of participation from 2023, though. I hope this won't be an issue.

Hello Everyone. I have been following this thread for a while now and i finally have a question. I submitted my application on the 9th of November 2025. My portal currently shows the wait time is estimated at 2-8 weeks and from this thread the last date called was 8th of November 2025. Has anyone been called after that? Should i be worried? Any information will be greatly appreciated please. Thank you!!!
