Vibe Coding Is Neither The Future Of Development Nor A Scam — Here's What It Act by chinavs9ja(op): 10:51pm On Sep 25
There's a lot of extreme takes on this both ways — "AI will replace all developers" on one side, "vibe coding is a scam for people too lazy to learn to code" on the other. Both are wrong in ways worth actually explaining, since a lot of people making these arguments haven't actually used these tools seriously.

What AI coding tools are genuinely good at: generating a working first version of something fast, scaffolding boilerplate you'd otherwise type out by hand, explaining unfamiliar code, and handling well-trodden patterns — a login form, a CRUD API, a basic dashboard. If your project looks like a thousand other projects the model has effectively seen, it's genuinely fast and genuinely useful. This isn't a small thing — a huge share of real business software is exactly this kind of unoriginal, well-understood plumbing.

What it's genuinely bad at, consistently: anything requiring real architectural judgment across a large, existing codebase, anything where the "right" answer depends on business context the model has no way of knowing, and — the part that catches people out worst — security and edge cases. AI-generated code frequently looks completely correct and passes a casual glance while missing input validation, handling errors silently instead of properly, or getting authorization logic subtly wrong. A generated login flow that "looks done" and a login flow that is actually secure are not automatically the same thing, and the gap between them isn't obvious to someone who can't read the code critically.

The actual skill that matters now isn't "can you type code fast," it's "can you tell when the generated code is subtly wrong." That's a genuinely different skill from writing code from scratch, and it's arguably harder to teach, since reviewing code critically requires understanding it as deeply as writing it does, sometimes more.

My honest take: it's a real, legitimate productivity tool for the boring 80% of most projects, and a genuinely risky one for the specific 20% that actually needed real expertise — and the businesses getting burned right now are mostly the ones that couldn't tell which part of their project was which.

Curious what others here who've actually used these tools seriously think — where has it actually worked for you, and where has it bitten you?

instead of flask learn fastapi
check their docs (best way to learn it)

FastAPI is generally considered better than Flask for building modern APIs because of its superior performance, native asynchronous architecture, automated data validation, and built-in interactive documentation.

I don’t intend to be a full stack web developer

Work would mainly involve
1. Write scripts for automating repetitive tasks
2. Cleaning or comparing csv/excel data
3. Working with API’s & JSON
4. Organizing files with scripts
5. Basic data processing
6. Fixing & modifying existing scripts
7. Creating & serving simple web applications
8. Using OOP & a few 3rd party libraries
9. Write programs for maths/scientific computing
10. Build simple, secure & reliable apps

I’m new to all of this
I only know SQL fundamentals well.
No where to learn FastAPI ? I thought Flask is newbie friendly, compared to FasAPI and Django; & would be used by someone just to get by. Not heavily into web development
I don’t know anything about Fast API but Django is really dense in full scale web development
My base is data
Maybe you can enlighten me like you would do to a noob?
NIIT teach Flask that’s where I first knew about it & got their flier

@yinkeys for that list, no need to stress Flask vs FastAPI yet. Your base is data, so go deep on core Python first: pandas, openpyxl for Excel, requests for APIs and JSON, pathlib for organising files. When you need a small web app, Flask is perfectly fine and easier to read as a beginner. Best trick: pick one real repetitive task from your work every week and automate it. That habit go teach you more than any course.

I think vibe coding is a great way to get started, especially for people who have ideas but don't know where to begin with programming. But you still need to understand variables, functions, APIs, databases, and debugging. AI can generate the code, but you need to know when something is wrong. The real advantage is combining AI speed with your own understanding

On Point...AI is meant to assist Software Dev while Vibe Coders with no programming knowledge are just jokers
