The Benin Coastal Highway is just two lanes on asphalt with no other feautures. If we compare it with the Lagos-Calabar Highway, which costs $4.6 million per kilometre for two lanes, ours is low compared to that of Benin republic. One standard carriageway costs $5.5 million per kilometre. Our costing has been wonderful and effective.

A minister that said he is a registered Engineer doesn't carried out cost implications of the project he wants to engaged in and he was challenging Rufai Oseni that he was a registered Engineer that he should shot up talking nonsense on the national tv. Now see the implications of his nonchalant attitudes and unprofessionalism he has put himself in b4 Nigerians. They took we are not intelligent, educated or smart enough like in the olden days where our parents doesn't asked questions. Umahi is a disgrace to Engineering profession. Please continue this project with the original plan. Ignore comments from other selfish Nigerians who only care about development in their region. This project will help the Niger Delta which is also the region generating the money we are debating on.

If U are an Engineer and watched that interview, you will be irritated at the level of incompetence displayed by a supposed Professor in practice.
First he said there was no design for the road which is crazy, then the question is which design was approved for construction what specifications are they using for construction since there was no design?
How exactly did they arrive at their over bloated cost of $5m dollars per kilometre since there was no design?
Also the way he was talking shows there was no EIA on the project if not they would have seen these issues they claim are arising now forcing them the realign the road
I have never seen a project with so much incompetence and waste.
