Please Ogas at the top I also need the link for the
MPPT charge controller as my pwm charge is not
giving me the best here. I have 9 panels of 220 watts and
each one is rated 28v but the open circuit voltage is 33.4
I wired them 3 in series and 3 series string together in parallel.
My battery bank is 48v 200ah. I.e four 12v 200ah batteries
connected in series. most time I get between 55 and 52v but if
Discharge the batteries to about 46v, it takes about 2days to get
Back to 50 plus voltage because the the PV voltage will drop as
to as low as 45v instead of the normal voltage range of between
92 and 84 depending on the weather if I take the voltage
measurement before it enters the charge controller despite the
Fact that I used 10mm cables and the distance between the array
and the battery bank is less than 12ft. I think the solution will be
get MPPT charge controller or what else can I do? Thanks.

You sure need the mppt charger for your batteries.

Do not also forget that oga George mentioned some other important factors that affect solar panels, you can filter the posts on the thread to check these factors or better still use Google.

My charger controller like i have said before is from China, I got it through aliexpress, the part number is emppt3024z, please note that this model only works for 12 and 24v systems. There is a 48V brand too.

You can also ask oga George about the morning star charger.

This mppt charger to the best of my knowledge is good. I have would have picked two of it in march if not for my botched trip to the China. It can work with 12, 24 & 48v battery configuration. Although i think the 3 communication links is too much and may also be responsible for the high price.

For friends who requested for my email.....just add 2005@yahoo.com to my username.

Please be a little more discrete with your email address. You would not believe the tons of spam emails you will be receiving for sticking your email address in public forums like this.

You can always edit your post to remove the email.

@abunafiu, I have two of these and I chose them on the bang per buck appeal, spec, and my communications with their support techies. Also, I wouldn't buy from reseller if I were you, I'd go to the manufacturers for all the support it entails. Send me your mail and i can put you in touch with them. They do an equivalent without all the interface too if you don't need the extra bells and whistles at a cheaper price.

@bodejohn, the word 'chin**' is as offensive to them as nigg** is to us.

edit @abunafiu, I've not used the chargers in anger yet as I'm still awaiting the arrival of my panels, so I cannot comment on their performance but I did choose them based on everything that goes before actual usage

totalgreen,
sorry. its the spambot.

it seems to have such an open hatred for solar power! grin
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bodejohn(m): 8:17pm On May 04, 2013
2334A harvested in the month of April, 2Amps short of the figures from the month of March.

The drop can be attributed to public power supply during the night for about a week during the past month. The batteries were almost fully charged before the dawning of the next day.

Counters cleared now, the month of May is rolling already.

Cheers!!!

@abunafiu, well done and congrats. smiley. Which controller did you choose in the end? and I hope you've secured the panels against the wind.

The price of technology goes down as it becomes more commonplace and it is usually a slow, steady decline. However, a group of scientists in Australia have found a way to slash the cost of solar panels ten years ahead of schedule.
This new method involves using hydrogen atoms in conjunction with poorer quality silicon, to makeit behave like a higher quality material. Not only will this method be expected to cost 60% less by 2020, it is already over 20% more efficient than current solar panels on the market.

I dont know what my offense is on Nairaland. All my post have been hidden, i also had a tough time posting the pics of my MPPT. I believe according oga George, this thread hates solar energy.
As a result, i created a second account to enable me post my pics. abunafiu remains my number 1 username.

You can see my two generating sets resting in peace and my improvised MPPT hanger with improvised switch using "cutting wire technology"
My harvest for sunday......
Will post more soon.
