shymexx: ^^^^Why do you Igbo's have to steal everything Yoruba and turn it to Igbo?

1). Egba's aren't Igbo's and they have nothing in common with Igbo's. I dare say they're more Yoruba than a lot of Yoruba subgroups.

2). Prof. Wole Soyinka is not Egba and he has never claimed Egba. Yes, he was born in Abeokuta and he's Fela Kuti's cousin. However, he's an Ijebu man from Ishara Remo.

3). Lukumi/Olukunmi has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Igbo's. Lukumi/Olukunmi just like Anago used to be the general name for Yoruba's. And the Olukunmi people in Delta state migrated there during the Kiriji wars, hence why they still maintain the Olukunmi name.

4). All those Brazil claims are just laughable. The revolt in Brazil was done by the Yoruba muslims called Imale. I still don't know how Igbo got into the mix. Yes, most of them might be of Egba origin since a lot of Egba's were sold into slavery because they kept warring with everyone. However, the Egba's aren't Igbo's.

Just stop the madness, already!

THAT SAME PAPER CLAIMS IBOTIRAMA AGAIN! grin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibotirama#History

culled from the wikipedia page

The area was once inhabited by Tupi-Guarani Indians who had their fishing camp here. In the eighteenth century settlers began to arrive to start cattle ranching. A settlement was formed to supply muleteers and cattle drivers and fishermen began to settle to take advantage of the vast fishing in the river. In 1911 the village was elevated to the district of Piratinga and in 1931 it became a vila with the name of Jardinópolis. In 1943 the name was changed to Ibotirama. It was only in 1958 that it became a city.

Economic growth occurred when the important Brasília-Salvador highway was built, making Ibotirama an obligatory stopover for travelers and truck drivers on the long and tiring journey.

Re: Nigerian (igbo) & African American by bigfrancis21: 2:34pm On Sep 07, 2013
Apparently, you are a fulani. Then why do you care about the Igbo ancestry of AAs? So far I've seen more AAs come to nairaland to personally testify that they are of Igbo ancestry than I have seen of Fulani or Akan. Hero, Jayvarley, Crayola, Chiagozie F., etc are such examples.

You should know one thing. No matter how you spew so much energy at these rantings you do, it doesn't change anything beyond nairaland. Maybe you're too blind to notice that nairaland is only a website not that popular outside Nigeria. How many people can you count as having achieved your fact peddling with? At the end of the day you've achieved nothing because AAs will continue to take the DNA testing and a substantial number will continue to come out with partial/full Igbo ancestry. Chiagozie F for example, is an AA who dug back into the slave records of her ancestors and discovered her first male ancestor was an Igbo with the name 'Chiagosie'. She went on to do DNA testing which proved her paternal ancestry was indeed Igbo. She's one of my followers. You can visit my profile, go to her posts and check them out. I don't lie. Same with Hero another proud Igbo american.

DNA testing results have consistently proved Igbo slave records right. Many AAs are taking the test and reclaiming their partial/full Igbo ancestry. For what its worth, you can't change that. wink

You've excellently excelled in proving to me that you are of Kwame's level of reasoning and calibre, who have failed in the capability of holding intelligent discourse without resorting to the use of profanity. You need to see the way I laugh each time I read your posts.

I don't care if my posts are liked or if my posts gets 20 likes. For what its worth, I will keep pushing statistics and facts on Igbo ancestry forward, just as other websites(foreign and local alike) are doing.

The Igbo ancestry of AAs, Caribbeans and Jamaicans came into light from early 2000s after almost 2 centuries of lying in the dark. Many websites have been adjusting their webs accordingly, while some still have some catching up to do.

I'm very happy for DNA testing. Otherwise, you and the likes of Kwame will succeed in feeding the world with half-baked lies that Igbo people were the least sent group. DNA testing has proven to be a flawless genetic identifier recording successes in paternity cases, murder cases, and recently genealogy tracing.
The only statement left of you now is to claim DNA testing results are influenced by Igbo people. So hysterical.

@Adams...its clear you have nothing to contribute here. You've also confessed your own anti-igbo sentiments. You can save your comments for yourself.
Re: Nigerian (igbo) & African American by bigfrancis21: 2:51pm On Sep 07, 2013
Anybody who probably wonders why a lot of anti-Igbo sentiments are attached to the Igbo, will need to study anti-jewish sentiments and history to properly understand anti-Igbo sentiments.

Among the major peoples of the world, the Jews have been the most hated group in the annals of history. They've faced persecution, hatred, allegations, killings, mass destruction and what have you. There's nothing that has not been done to bring this group down. Yet, where do we have them today? Despite all anti-arabic sentiments facing Israel and the constant war/raiding by neighbouring countries Israel has found them in, Israel always wins at the end of the day.

The Igbo people have faced similar situations and still face the same till today.

Kails, Adams, Kwame, Mrs Chima and others alike, you should know one thing. The spirit of the Igbo man is indomitable. You can't conquer the Igbo man, no matter how hard you try. That's how nature has placed it. No matter the rough and toughest of conditions you subject them to, they'll always come out better, more resilient and stronger. You all have tried and tried to mute me on pushing Igbo statistics forward but yet keep failing. So far none of you have been able to take me down despite all the rantings. Mrs Chima has failed to hold an intelligent discourse. Kails who has also failed needs another unintelligent contributor who found his levels in exchanging profanity with Kwame to tell her she won, and that must make her feel good. She rushes off to like other people's posts to make her feel she's winning when she's infact losing.

I use a mobile phone, you use laptops with blazing internet speed yet you can't count up to half of the sources I pushed forward.

The Igbo race shall continue to move on. Its barely 45 years after a drastic civil war and we've come this far. Only the future knows what it holds in store for us.

The same phenomenon has also been observed by other african americans alike who also say that Igbo people look more like African Americans more than any other West African tribe. I did not say here that AAs are mostly Igbo. But going by what Dr. Douglas Chambers concluded in his work that 'At least 60% of African Americans are likely to have at least 1 Igbo ancestor in their history', his conclusion may not be far from the truth.

Below are pictures of 2 Igbo guys who could easily pass off as African Americans. The African Americans observed very well.

Yes I am aware of that research and I am in also in agreement.

I have seen some IGBO people in the past who I thought were either Caribbean or African-American.

When you visit different black populations within the Caribbean you can see by the features the different tribal origins.

This year I went to Guyana and though population there is around 30% Black, just going by the look of me people knew that I was not Guyanese. I was asked if I was Barbadian or from some other island.

When people from certain tribes of Africa are brought together onto a small island and isolated their gene flow is restricted to themselves. Until eventually people within from that location will resemble and will be related to each other. There will be NO OTHER POPULATION with quite the same DNA as theirs.

I saw a whole family from mbaise the other day. I could swear that these people were mixed/half-castes. Their amount of lightskins and facial similarity to people of mixed ancestries was striking. I even went further to ask if their mother or any member of the family was foreign and no, all were 100% Igbo.

I keep seeing people like that everyday on the streets of Owerri where I currently am. At times I'd have to stare twice to see if these people were actually Igbo.

In 2009 and 2010 two different Igbo families living in london were recorded to have given birth to babies with striking caucasoid features. The genetic lineages of both sides of the family of both couples were traced and there was no history/record of a caucasoid ancestor whatsoever. And no, these babies were not albinos. The doctors carried out skin tests to confirm that.

During the slave trade, the igbo people in Nigeria rarely intermarried with the white slave raiders like some riverine Niger delta groups(Ijaw, for example). That rules out the possibility of european ancestors for the babies. And no other purely black african couple has been observed to have this phenomenon before.

I once opened a thread on the phenomenon, and as expected people flooded the thread with anti-igbo sentiments.

See the thread link below and tell me what you think about it.

Yes I remember reading about that family in the newspaper.

IGBO seem to posses certain genetics for light skin.

Generally though from my observation Nigeria produces more light skinned people than Ghana for instance, even though there is not any significant admixture among those groups.

No matter how dark skinned a Nigerian/IGBO person maybe, they seem to carry the genetics for light skin that will JUMP OUT in any generation it chooses to!

On the real, I have said this many times before...we don’t have the hard data culled from the periods to know which country produced the most slaves, what % is so and so, what tribe the big booty came from, and who sucked the most White man dicks.

Africa played a part in their own demise and stretched the unity of their people to famine, diseases, poverty, and plain cluelessness.

And for that anything Black will always be on the bottom of the totem pole even mutts.
