Oh, gosh. She chose her future husband's best man before she even met him? Sounds like someone takes Hollywood fiction a little too seriously. Anywho, tell her NO. As a woman, if you give us an inch, we will take a mile, especially if you let us get our way when another man is involved. It's an insult for her to even think she can choose YOUR best man; it seems like a small thing to concede on but trust me, it sets a bad precedent. If she wants the guy in the wedding, then he can be her Man of Honor and that's about it.

Besides, what kind of 'best friend' is he if you don't even know him?

1. Let your gal know the meaning of d word BEST-MAN, and let her know that he has to be nobody other than ur real BEST-MAN, no (arrangee thing)
Be practical and read d riot act to her.

2. let d reason for her picking one be wise and obvious if ever considered, (love/emotions might forced u to)

3. Mind u, if u can't dictate what happens in ur home now, i'm afraid it might be too late to do so afterwards.

IMHO tell your gal that her friend can be part of the GROOMSMEN but the BESTMAN position would have to be who YOU see fit for this very important and personal duty.

the best man has to know you personally and dearly as he will have to say the bestman's speech at the recption. the bestman will have to also take care of everything for the groom especially so on wedding day when last minutes stress might creep in on him. his job will be to make sure that the groom worries about nothing else than to say "I DO".

also the bestman is the one who will arrange the Bachelor party and you dont want a stranger who doesnt know you to do that.

I am wondering why this even came up here as a question. You should have been telling us how you kicked her out of your life for grossly disrespecting you by forcing you to put her ex beside you (I think this is fairly obvious, even if not stated) on your wedding day. I don't know how it worked out, but you should have put all arrangements on hold and really seriously re-evaluated the whole relationship- easier said, I know. Doesn't seem to me that she is can be all that decent.

I look in on this thread occasionally. I see it's received some attention lately. My curiosity stems from it being at least three years since the OP started the thread. Perhaps they've had a couple of kids. Maybe ended up with separate partners. She perhaps married the said "bestman". Perhaps some totally unforeseen outcome took hold of things. How exactly did it all go? You kinda owe it to the house. Spill!

Haha. I will spill. No I did not marry her.
The best man issue was a screaming red flag and other issues came to the forefront.

The pattern was the same. She had selfish tendencies and always had to have her way.

Anyway, we split. That was a whole lifetime ago! - 15 years!
