I was excited when bbm finally relaunched on Android and I wasted no time in getting mine. I was able to set it up and started chatting almost immediately.

Then tragedy sruck, I discovered I cannot change my DP. Every time I try to change my dp, my bbm crahes.

I have done everything including reloading my Rom but same result.

If u are having same issue kindly hop in and let's find a way out of dis.

I use Tecno N7

I also use an HTC fone and I've been experiencing the same thing. I have also tried everything all to no avail.

I use Tecno N7

When you enter your bbm. And you open the chat windows were your name is at the top.

Tap that to open your profile.

Once that opens. Tap on the extreme top most left beside your name. It looks like a white square beside your name

It will open with an option for you to replace picture.

From here on your back on android.

Oh yeah, it's unnecessary.
But if you are so desperate to upload a dp, as for you guys that can't upload, convert your image to .gif format before uploading. Thank me later.

secondly its a problem on som phones and not all.. i dont have this problem on my phone..

but incase u still got d probz.. change ur pics into gif befor uploading..

for example.. if ur pics name was


MAUREEN.jpg

rename it to

MAUREEN.gif


then try using it as dp...

It was helpful. I converted to gif and I was able to upload. However, I will like to know if you have an idea of any Android app that can be used to convert images to gif.

Try "convert images" it's a paid app that can be gotten for free on Blackmart.
Although I use my laptop to do my conversion with a software known as "image converter"

i found out a solution:

i did an update on my S3 and i updated/downloaded google photos. since then, when i want to change dp, it asks whether to use "Gallery"(native android photo app) or "google photos".

each time i use google photos, my dp changes seamlessly!

UPDATE: Just head down to playstore and update ur bbm.

Now u can change ur dp directly from ur gallery. This new option came with the update.

please how do i download BBM ,whatsapp, map,and other apps. into Samsung GT-I9500 Galaxy S4 from google play.all this app refuses to install on my devise when trying to download it frm google play, with an error message your devise was not find on the list. where else will i get all this app please. you may email me on fabulousjohn@yahoo.com

My advice is try and download Blackmart, it's easier to get these applications from there.
