Good Day House,

Thanks for the invaluable information received on this forum so far. Please My wife would be due in may next year and i want her to travel in march but the thing is as much as i would have wanted her to give birth in El paso Texas via Doctorsperati because of good care / lower costs, she does have family (Her sister and hubby) in Richmond California and would like to monitor and accomodate her, California is expensive so i'd appreciate if anyone can recommend me to:

1) a good doctor/ hospital where she would do all her tests and everything regarding pre and post delivery and paediatric fees for not more than $6500-$7000 max in any state in California, los angeles, san fran cisco etc
2)If any personal details of the doctor exists, can anyone who has such provide tel numbers, emails or fax and less i forget of course the address or website.

Please i'd be very greatful for any such useful information with regards to the above thanks in anticipation guys smiley

Cheers

@nikkygal..amen, .thanks a lot. I am leaning towards WHMC because i have been unable to get a proper breakdown for methodist

What dr did you use? Im leaning towards dr la because of the people on this thread and have set up an appointment. My sis in law is recommending dr. Korhonen because my other sister inlaw used him 7 years ago...i am wary though because his online recommendations ain't great because of his age and how he is always tired, leans towards CS, etc

She also recommended dr Rizk because her friend also used him but i haven't called yet sha

Also do you know if physician fee differ from doctor to doctor in the same hospital

Well, I used Dr La...cheesy but it was because he was actually recommended to me by a close colleague of mine. Truth is it seems like everyone using WHMC these days is using Dr La and am beginning to think, isn't there any other alternative? Lol! But I guess most pple just use 'the same person their friend used' esp. since he's already familiar with the whole naija arrangement lol! Even though there are lots of gyneas with WHMC.

Seriously though, you could use Dr La as I've not gotten any negative feedback from anyone yet about his services. As per doctors charges, I think it varies from doctor to doctor oh! The only thing is that most of them just try to benchmark against each other and try to charge within the same range so as not to price themselves out of the market esp.for regular medical services like maternity...

I'll try to help ask a friend of mine that had her baby in methodist for her doctors name and pass on the info. What of your friend that used methodist as well? Any info from her? It's always good to compare notes oh..smiley so that you're sure you're getting a good deal.

Let me know how far sha. Take it easy hun!

favored gal: @Finance+Fitness Haba! Take the pains to read up his past post na...he has given a very detailed information

@babababy...safe trip back....nice one...

@mousepad...howfar? You don born? The lord is your strength

@ hardeymijuh....how was your apointment with dr la? I hear he uses both whmc and memorial hermann...did you get the breakdown for memorial hermann or you are just sticking with whmc?
@favored gal,
My wife's first appointment with Dr La went well. I asked Dr La if he used Memorial Hermann, he said he doesn't use them anymore and that WHMC is cheaper. We were able to do most of the tests in Naija so that helped us saved some money, we have paid $2775 so far. This includes doctors fees, a full scan, and other lab tests that are compulsory in the US.

We are yet to pay for the hospital fees ($2500), my wife will be paying that next week. Guess she will be seeing emispackage next week.... cheesy

so far I am impressed with the service received at Dr La Office and i have no regrets. I have also referred 2 persons since my wife's last appointment with him.

Thanks emispackage for your support.

This thread is quite informative and I really must commend the thought behind this.

Iam currently searching for an affordable hospital for Child Birth in Maryland/Washinton DC. Would really appreciate any useful information on the hospital name, Cost range and their contact details.

Hello house, hope we all are doing great. Had my baby in June 2013 in Maryland ....I M WRITTING THIS LATE COS I COULDNT LOG ON...all thanks to Vivian who has turned out to be my sister from another mother...double vee as i refer to her as being a blessing. i gave birth in Maryland though the plan was to use MIHS Phoenix, double Vee has given me all the guidance needed. I arrived the USA USING Baltimore washington International,,, my people it wasnt funny,at port of entry, the officer welcome me , she asked some questions...first one off guard was...are you expecting, i told her yes, she said STEP ASIDE...she took me to her supervisor, i was worried oooooo..make i no pretend. they kept me in that room that we watch on BOAREDR SECURITY...FOR LIKE 45MINS, ...OBSERVATION DON BEGIN: ATLAS, SUpervisor called me, so many questions..these are the few i can recall...where do you work? are u on leave? when u applied for the visa , y didnt you say u were pregnant? that one i answered fast,...please lets count, i was not pregnant when i applied for the visa. i was asked how much i had on me?(since i filled the cash declaration form) he asked i bring out the cash, counted to make sure it was complete....he now said,LET ME ADVISE YOU, COLLECT ALL YOUR RECEIPTS COS YOU WOULD BE ASKED AT ANY TIME DURING YOUR REVISIT;;;AFTER ABOUT THREE HOURS I WAS ALLOWED INTO BALTIMORE....

any questions welcome by me... double vee..thank you plenty all nairaland people..keep raising the flag oooooo.

I used Dr Chaudry in Cheverly..his price was 2,500. nice man, he has good staff..Alicia to be precise..during my last weeks trimester..dr GAVE GREAT ADVISE..I USED THE Prince George county Hospital..went in thru emergency, gave birth there successfully thru normal, i did not sleep in the hospital since that was my third baby, other two na for naija i born dem o
HOSPITAL BILL IS 4,700 DOLLARS SO the total is 7200...i didnt use epidural o cos of this bill though i was induced....

getting the american passport was easy for me cause i waited till i got the SSN , WENT TO THE PASSPORT OFFICE IN WASHINGTON DC TWO WEEKS TO MY DEPARTURE DATE ..GOT IT WITH 172 DOLLARS IN TWO DAYS IN THE HOUSE....THE NIGERIA PASSPORT WAS FASTEST..GOT IT SAME DAY, THE SUPERVISOR THERE...naija embassy na better woman, she has low cost..gave me my son's passport same day..it cost me swglobbal,visa fee..some extra dollar, cant recall the figure...
