Last month paypal was launched in Nigeria with limited services which is opposite to what western union services used to be in Nigeria until their services was upgraded this month.

Before now, Nigerians were not allowed to send money out of Nigeria with western union but can only receive funds from friends and relatives outside the country.

So few days after paypal was launch in Nigeria with a service opposite to that of western union (Paypal Nigeria can't receive funds but can send funds abroad while western union can receive funds but cant send funds abroad). I went on western union facebook page and asked why Nigerians can't send money abroad via western union; then i was told that the limited service was decision of the Nigerian govt and not western union.

I then informed them that the same govt welcomed paypal with a limited service which enables Nigerians to send funds abroad but can't receive funds via paypal. I also suggested that they go back and renegotiate the policy with the govt because i was sure that if the govt could allow us send funds abroad via paypal that they will also consider western union as an alternative for transfering funds abroad.

They(Western Union) thanked me and promised to do something about it.

Just yesterday, i saw a headline on nairaland frontpage that Nigerians can now send send money abroad via western union and i was like ''wow so these guys actually took action and now Nigerians can send funds with ease?''.

I immedately went back to their fb page and thanked them and they also thanked me for letting them help.

I don't think Ecobank has joined the service yet. Currently western union has just 5,000 centers across the country. Check the link to see if any of these centers are near u

How did i overturned or intend to overturn govt policy? Western union was already in Nigeria with limited services which wasn't the policy of our present govt.

When the present govt allowed paypal to operate in Nigeria, i only adviced western union to renegotiate the policy with our govt knowing fully well that if Nigerians are allowed to send money abroad via paypal, why won't the same govt allow western union to do interntational transfer?

Are u doubting me cos am not a politician or because i was not rewarded with cash?

My greatest reward is that all Nigerians can now send money abroad without going to aboki or bank to buy dollar.

My dear, people will always criticize any good things but especially if they were unable to do the same.

Nigerians are too hard to deal with.

Instead insulting GEJ, PDP or APC on facebook, i chose to do something more meaningful to our country and yet people are accusing me of overturning govt policies.

In PEJ's voice There is God oooo

Sorry dont get me wrong.. what i just wanted to say is that it could not have taken that short while between when you notified them and when you saw the post on frontpage for them to overturn a policy that have been in place for years. It would have been under the table before then .it was just a co-incidence in my opinion.

OP, nice one. I commend the Western Union for listening to your suggestions. I wish other service providers in other sectors in the economy, were the type that listens to their customers, there would be high quality services and everyone would be happy.

a yoruba adage says "omo iná l'à ún rán s'íná". I am now sending you to paypal to make them allow nigerians to receive money through their paypal account. Just remember to take the magic wand you used for western union along. I expect result 2 days from now. Thank you in advance because you will do it.

What do u mean? Don't tell me u are one of d reasons paypal shortlisted Nigeria from receiving funds.

People like u only uses the social media to abuse our cointry and govt so when others used the platform to do something good in the country u call it magic.

Why not click the link and ask western union if i was the only who adviced them to renegotiate with our govt to allow Nigerians transfer funds abroad via western union.

I guess u can't do that cos all u knw is tarnishing nigeria's image on the internet

what is the link now btw my comment and all the stvpid nonsense you wrote? Do you know me? Have u read any where on internet where i posted things to tarnish nigeria's image? What is bitting you? What has gotten into your stvpid and pompous head? because you dreamt you sent mail to western union and then WU accept nigeria to send money ( by mere coincidence), your stvpid eediotic self now see urself as a messiah-like-none-other. Do u know how many nigerians that have mailed moneygram, WU, paypal, et al in an attempt to make the business world easier for all nigerians? They are unaccountable. Do you know how many signatures were collected in nigeria and sent to paypal b4 approval could be given for paypal in nigeria ? Innumerable. If those great pple get stvpidly blouthed with unreasonable ego like your self-praising self and decide to open thread to sing their own praises, nairaland would have become boringland! Get this into your stvpid thoughtles, sawdust-filled brain. You have done nothing special. Many have done same but are not here praising themselves.
Your mail to WU has no link with their approval the money-sending service. It is just ordinary coincidence. Mr Self-Seeker!

Why are you bothering yourself to reply the hare brained dimwit. Western Union clearly stated in the past that CBN regulations forbade them from offering outbound services from a lucrative Nigerian market.

You can call me watever u want but on d contrary its just d opposite. So who then asked them to go back and renegotiate the policy? Can u understand simple english? WU said that CBN stopped them in d past; just d same thing they told me when i demanded to know why Nigerians cant send money abroad via WU. I simply gave them a useful information when i told them about paypal and they promised to act on d info i gave them

Coincidence? I don't think so bro. Although i couldn't provide the link of the previous conversation between Wu n i, but the truth remains that WU was okay with the limited services they were operating in Nigeria as a result of the policy which they operated with aa mentioned above.

They even apologized to me that they can't do anything since the decision was taken by Nigerian govt. But when i told them about Paypal and adviced them to renegotiate the policy. They promised to act on the info i gave them

Decleff dont let it get into your head, its really pure coincidence, abi dont you think they have analysts that have been working on it for a while? Just like i will thank myself for starting the change petition that forced paypal to operate in nigeria, Ludicrous gambagamba!
