Outcome of the University Governing Council, at its 80th
meeting held recently, has approved the splitting of the institution's
College of Natural
Sciences (COLNAS), into the College of Biosciences (COLBIOS) and
College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS).
The emergence of the new
Colleges would revatilise academic activities for better and efficient
service delivery, allow for the evolution of other courses in line
with modern trends and give room for the introduction of other
demand-driven programmes, as obtainable in international
academic communities, as well as prepare the University for the
desired future expansion.

Bros, u sure u dey go school so? Expanding the college brings more opportunities for staffs, students and each department. More staffs'll be recruited, more students'll be admitted and the departments'll be able to expand by having more specialized areas of the course readily available for study at the lower levels instead of waiting till PG level to do so.

Another thing you need to know is that the university will spend more because dey'll build a new college and office complex, and labs will still be needed in the long run. Pride, awards and academic excellence will be their ultimate gain, money not!

If they like, they should split it into 7, provided its not affecting the duration of ma programme!
