I would like to visit my brother and my cousin @ southampton & cambridge and i am not working at the moment but have a small company(Business) that I manage. Please educate me on how to go about getting a visitors visa or the best way to go about applying. I intend visiting for a week or 2 and how much do I need to have on my account + I just registered my company August. Do I use my company accnt or my personal account. I do not want to be addressed as a business owner. What doc would I ask for from any of my brothers can both of them invite me? And my staying der for 2weeks will give me enough time to do a 4days crash course on offshore drilling as that use to be my old profession. There are some other info I can not expose here and I will very much like to share these info so it would better help you to give me the best advice... Thank you very much... I am wondering how I am going to know wen you reply on naira land. It took me days to figure out how to write you here... May God bless yoou. Thanks...

There is lots of information here if you read back.
But to summarise for you.
The most important thing is ties to ensure that you will return home after your visit.
Family, children or property can help here.
To use a buisness as a tie it must be established for over a year and have tax and bank accounts as proof.
Using a buisness bank account is bad, you should use a personal account showing a favorable balance and transactions.
A visiting visa is just that, do not mention any training.
In truth if you are un-employed with a new buisness and limited funds I would not waste money applying yet. Wait a year or two to get yourself established.

Your tie to Nigeria matters a lot and being a business owner gives you more advantage but your business has to be a healthy one that will persuade you to come back to Nigeria if given a visa. Since you just registered the business you are not expected to have tax certificate.

You need to submit both bank statements but your spending budget has to come from your personal account, your business account will only act as your tie to Nigeria.
They both can invite you, send you proof of accommodation and you make a list of things you tend to do in the UK.

You also need to write a breakdown of how much the trip will cost you, forget about mentioning the 4days course because that will not help your application.

How much do I need or what is the minimum amount of money do I need to have on my personal account to apply, assuming I work for my company and do I tender a salary account statement and a savings account statement too. I want to believe its thesame cos I do not have a savings account other than my salary current account.
I transfered a million from my company account into my salary account simply for this purpose.

Sorry for the continuous probe. I am curious and need to be well informed.

He's living permanently in the US (LPR). I am yet to join him and that is why we want to know if we can apply from Nigeria.

@justwise,please I need your contribution on what I need to do,I apply for tier 4 general student visa for myself and tier 4 dependent partner for my wife...my own visa is granted while my wife own is refused...reason for refusal is because my course of study is not post graduate level but HND level, though it is 12 month in length ,and we are been given full right of appeal if we are not sastify with their decision before 28 days

Sadly that is the rule, you need to be studying a course at level 7 lasting 12 months or above to be able to bring your family, HND is level 4/5.

Transferring money from your business account to salary account because of this trip is not going to do your application any good. Money in your other account supposed to be your profit from the business and not your business capital transferred purposely for the trip.

The point is this...this trip should not affect the running of your business financially, you should be able to proof that you can afford to visit the UK from your savings without touching your actual business capital.

The problem you have now is that you don't have tax certificate because that piece of document will state your gross and net profit.

Make a budget of how much this trip will cost you then that will help you determine how much to feel in the form.

You need to apply for your visa in Nigeria, it doesn't matter if his bank statement is that of US, he is the sponsor and traveling with you.

I'm afraid you may have to travel without her and invite her after settling down. She can apply for visiting visa then.

good evening all, please @3sha4lyf, vicJ and JWise was filling my family visit visa form online and got confused by this question: "what is the cost to you of your stay in the UK"

although I have a sponsor who will pay for my trip, but I have to fill in this field, does it inquire how much of my own personal money I will use for the trip, please enlighten me, thanks.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by 3sha4lyf: 11:48pm On Sep 09, 2014
esosa4real: Thanks @3sha4lyf!
I get it tho buh I jus sha hope they don't take and look into every detail in the form
Cos for example, I stated in the form that I do not ve any fam member or friends and wud stay for 5days.
But actually I plan to stay in uk for 2weeks. My plan is to go to norwich for conference thru manchy then return to manchy and stay with my cousin and then friends for remng part of my stay then return to Naija.

And about the money thingy, na 1500 dey my form o, should I still mention that I have that? Or jux mention that I ve lesser buh am with my creditcard?

Anyways all these are jux in case and don't mind my curiosity, am a first timer UK.
smiley

You should be fine. People change plans according to their circumstances and since it's a general tourist visa, and you are not staying for over 180 days, you should be ok.

As per the finance issue, safer to say "I have approximately 1500 for the trip" if you are asked. And yes, my friend was asked as well. He had to show his credit card alongside his debit cards. Also, I've heard of another person who was escorted to the cashpoint in our POE just to verify the monies available. Lol. 'Twas very funny.

But really, you should be fine.

Enjoy your stay

For me, i'ld suggest you put the monies you incur for the trip if at all you are going to spend a dime on it. So say your sponsor caters to the trip 100%, just put nil there.

Sometimes, putting a figure there helps (as long as your account can back it up)... That's just my suggestion.

If you have the option to choose that, please do. You might also wanna minute that on your cover letter that "you are unemployed AND your partner supports you (if possible, the extent yo which he does)". That way, you haven't said anything different from what was in your previous application, if you see what I mean.
