Hello friends,I need advise from all ya. I inherited a house of my dad after he passed away. The C of O of the property is dated 1987 with my dad's name on it. I want to transfer the property to my name,please how do I go about it?

Do you have a will giving you the property huh

Is the will registered in court? All well an good where is the property located??

I don't think its a big deal. As a property professional, I believe if you have ANY document detailing the transfer of such property to YOU, there might be no need to do a change of name.

However, there are various channels through which names can be changed. Where are you situated?

Kaduna.
It was transferred to me by word of mouth done by the most senior member of my dad's extended family when sharing my dad's properties.

The reason I want to do this is because the house was constructed in the mid 70's using mud blocks and in a sorry state even though I still have tenants living inside.
I feel scared anytime I visit knowing that the structure might collapse anytime soon couple with the problems associated with such occurrence.
Very year I have to mend leaking roofs,damaged ceiling due to the leaks.
The truth is that I support myself in school buying and selling of phones and from what is left after the annual renovations.
I want to apply for mortgage loan so as to construct modern and suitable apartments.
Is it advisable?
