as long as you're still under his roof,you should obey him. When you get your own apartment and be a man of your own,if you decide to even change your religion,that's your problem.
Besides,what's wrong with being a Catholic anyway? Children of nowadays sef....

If the OP has found a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God outside the Catholic church, then by all means let him explore it to the fullest. The bible says we should work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Salvation is an individual race which should be influenced by no one except the holy spirit. If your church does not change you, change church!!

That being said, OnyeEgo1, honour your parents so that your days will be long on earth. Also be as meek as the dove and wiser than the serpent. As long as you are still dependent on your parents, they will continue to have control over certain areas of your life. For now attend your new found church when you can, and on Sundays go to the catholic church so that peace will reign.

Above all pray. Commit your dad into God's hand and pray for wisdom to handle the situation well.

Let me also remind you that if you are good or bad, at the end of the day it will come back to YOU and you alone. You will be made answerable for your actions, whether good or bad. Not your dad, mum or sibs; YOU. You can only be the devil's errand boy if you allow him manipulate you.

OnyeEgo1 let me tell you a story.

My sister joined a certain popular fellowship when she entered university. They were on fire, preaching the word and jumping and praising. We come from a quiet but deep Christian family and my sis hadn't experienced pentecostal worship like this before.

She jumped head on into the fellowship. She rlwent for all the meetings and and prayer sessions and programmes, etc. She felt she had finally found the place to nurture her spiritual life.

As is the way with most of these fellowships they started preaching about 'dead' churches. How the members could only be saved by coming to a 'living' church like thiers. How anybody who was against joining the church was fighting them spiritually. How Christ came to set father against son and mother against daughter etc etc.

By the time sister came home she was on fire. Refused to go to church with the family. Anybody that questioned her was against her spiritual growth. That our parents were archaic, old school, etc. Nothing we could say could dissuade her instead she took us as attacking her faith.

Finally we let her have her way. When we go to church she will go to her own. When we pray she will pray her own. You can imagine how the tension in the house was.

Then she went back to school and soon we heard she had donated her phone to the church. We couldn't communicate with her and had to buy her a new phone. She sowed that one to the ministry also. Then money issues came. She started looking very stressed.

Cut a long story short she's wiser now. She has realised that following God is a PERSONAL DECISION and not dependent on any pastor. Finding salvation is work done by THE INDIVIDUAL and not any particular church.

After all your vexing, no pastor can replace your father. No fellowship can replace your family.

thanks sis, so many pple misunderstanding me here, my father remains my closest friend. Moreover i am a religious person, inshort dia was a tym in my life i was not going to church, buh for once i can hear d pratical truth, somhow i found wot i am craving for.
I remain a catholic, a proud one 4 dat. But i need growth, which is now truncated, over n done with.
I appreciate ur sincere concern, i wish i had dis in diary section wia comments like dat of one person insulting her father is not allowed.

I understand. There's this hunger for the word of God which
Is biting at your soul. When you attend catholic services, the hunger isn't satisfied. You feel you've been stagnant but now you're feeling more refreshed.
