I've run through 106 pg financial statement and I am highly disappointed in our leaders... How did MTN capitalize on us so much that if care is not taken, we are at their verge of mercy... Imagine Nigeria representing 1/3rd their global account and their profit is just about the same... What rubbish.. I pity my people.

Horse-shyt!

Any proof?
Lmao, you still want proof...https://www.mtn.com/Investors/Financials/Documents/Annual_results_booklet_2013.pdf

It's a 106 pg booklet, good luck reading it but a clue: the information you seek is in the first 30 pages... Good luck.

I stand to be corrected. However, what is happening between Nigeria and South Africa now may be connected with an open romance with SAn leader, Jacob Zuma and a top ranking presidential aspirant in Nigeria who lost out in the contest previously and is still warming up now.
The media reported that since Zuma's pal lost the bid, he has been behaving indifferently towards this govt. Even the non recognition of our president during Mandela's burial was linked to some of those deeds.

It is true nations need each other but what we're getting from them, we can get it elsewhere and they will be the bigger loser.

they should even do it cos Nigerians are gonna gain
Exactly. If Shoprite leaves tomorrow, a Nigerian equivalent will replace it in under 3 months.

Imagine Nigeria out of 22 countries and other clusters controlling more than 30% of global revenues and 20% of profit and someone has the nerves to say Nigeria will suffer.

This question in itself is an insult. What services are Suoth Africans providing that Nigerians aren't?
We should always look at issues objectively. MTN is what it is today because a Nigerian called Obasanjo decided to sabotaged a Nigerian owned company - Globacom at inception for whatever reason known to him.
This country have got challenges because of terrible things that happened in the past.
We're overcoming them gradually. Let's stop the negativity stance please
uncle, the earlier u stop deceiving urself the better. every nigerian including u is using one south african product or the other even as u are reading this now.
mtn and dstv are like oil pipe lines through which our funds go to south africa every minute courtesy of corrupt politicians who for selfish reasons sold us into slavery.
if nigerian should deport south africans living here, i am not sure they will full one BRT bus BUT if south africa does same, there will be no room enough.
if what our president and his supporters are saying are the truths, why did our president not inform the south africa president before sneaking money into south africa?
have u asked urself how boko haram and militants are funded and armed?
from when the can president bought the said aircraft till date, it has been controversies. he told us it was for the gospel or was the aircraft registered as commercial flight? if we all support this move, the next news might be the same flight arrested for conveying drugs.
pdp was either buying the illegal arms for their 2015 war against the oppositions or for the militants and even possible for the boko haram.
u went with $9.3M and they seized it and u went back with $5.7M. where are the funds coming from? have they stopped the cashless policy or was the policy meant for the poor?
if a registered firm is dealing on arms in south africa and u agree prices with him, what will be wrong for u to transfer the funds into their accounts?
if the govt and their supporters are right to move billions in cash out of nigeria, what about the laws or other countries?
when the whole world supported guy marriage and wanted it allowed in nigeria, we all came out en mass and said NO. it is not our thing.
now we are saying carrying cash around in millions and billions is a culture here BUT south africa is saying, it is not legal in their country. let us respect them pls. we can forget the money and aircraft since we have money enough to waste.

before i close, i will like to ask, THE $1B loan we are going for to fight boko haram, i hope we are not carrying it cash to south africa? BECAUSE, they will do same ooo.

I was NEVER in support of what happened; however, a nation like SA should be able to evaluate their position and assess a sensitive situation like this in order to avert diplomatic unrest unless if they have decided to throw caution to the wind. SA knows what's appropriate and should act like it.

What kind of question is this? Who made the law? Did the law fall from heaven? Who gave them the license to operate under the purview of the law? Bia, please think jare... If Nigeria wants to expel any company, law or not, IT WILL. The President has the executive authority to do so.

All niggeria does is export corruption, criminals, prostitutes, refugees etc.

Imagine a zoo feeling funky.

Go cry yourself a river to the Western nations that blacklisted so many foreign companies (no names) and please tell them that they have no regard for their own laws. At least start with the U.S. (Champion for democracy)... No need responding to you..

Its just funny how these moronic lackeys think. grin grin

Eroza, do you mean to tell me that there are no substitute companies and malls to replace your MTN and shoprite, or whatever its called?grin

To think your investors are doing Nigeria(ns) a huge favour by investing in Nigeria, where they also make huge profits from, is absolutely moronic!

According to you, Nigerians buy breads from Shoprite and bank with South African banks. grin

Now tell us, before the advent of Shoprite and your banks were Nigerians not eating breads and also banking? grin grin grin

Such a moronic logic! grin

These my people are so selfish and perpetually derailed from fact. The SA companies here in Nigeria who runs them? Some of you guys are reflection of your leadership that does something without sense.
How many Nigerians are gain fully employed in these companies? If they are all fired, you will employed them through sure-p right that flop here and there! This country is finished. Your nepotism, corruption as embraced here without control should not be export to another country. Stop embarrassing us as citizens and face reality. You there tried that with America with your threat that doesn't hold ground? Stupidity of the highest order.
