Lovely tips. Listening is so powerful. And my own most powerful tools that I use on a daily are "using polite expressions" and "Using names."

I learnt about the power of calling people by their names when I was a teacher during NYSC...in a class of 50, I memorized all their names, and would call up the most popular kid just as I would call the kid no one seems to notice. It made each indidual person feel like he was somebody, and it gave me some sort of power over them. They would do anything I requested without hesitation.

Walking through the footpath solo one night, I was about to get robbed when one of the teens said something in igbo to the rest, and they turned around. I had a feeling it was one of my students.
