Our present land tenure system doesn't support large scaled mechanised farming...I still struggle to understand where this land for agriculture in Lagos is situated. I have no problem with understanding the fishery potential in Lagos state. Agricultural breakthrough in SW will be a reality when its considered a regional project where the states with the vast land like ogun. Oshun ekiti oyo ondo provides the land for cultivation and others without land like lagos support with finance. |

Octaves:I see that happening in the nearest future. It is looking likelier that the demand for housing in Lagos is tilting towards that direction. |

Its possible but unneessary. Hollandwith its tiny land mass is the 2nd largest exporter of food in the world which shows that when you have a small land mass and high population, its only sensible to ramp up productivity. If lagos does that , it can not only feed itself but also "export" to other parts of Nigeria and West Africa. However, Lagos comparative advantage is not in agriculture. That should be left to the North or food producing states to grow food cheaply for Lagosians. Lagos can now "export" what it produes cheaply to other parts of the country. Its a win win situation! |

This is propaganda. How do they intend to achieve this when the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture stopped supporting farmers in the state. Initially, they were coming up with series of assistance, only for all to vanish during this second term. We need more of action and less of talking |

If this was said by Amosu of Ogun state, it will carry more value. Lagos cannot make this happen. |

mapet:well Bros I really don't know much about their models but these guys operate a highly mechanised farming practise where there is constant research and development in that field. Even with their un-favorable weather, isreal has managed to meet up over 95% requirements of their agricultural demands. That should tell you alot.

Ekiti under Fayemi recently bought back it's share in an estate property it co-owned with Ondo state in Lagos that was sold off by Segun Oni led-administration.
