Kk. Let me tell you what Ekiti people see in him. They see in him a true friend, an accute advocate of the masses and a big man with ear to listen and solve the problems of the downthroden wheither he is in or out of government. How did it start. Immediately Niyi Adebayo governmet started in 1999, Ayo fayose arrived from know-where, erecting sign-post of 'Ayo Fayose 4 Governor-2003' everywhere in Ekiti-state. I mean he started this in 1999, when the new governmet was just inaugurated. Nobody took him seriiously, expecially when it was discovered he was contesting under PDP, when SW seemed to have vowed to remain with Awolowo's Party-AD. Fayose continued his campaign, undisturbed for 4 years. He practically ran a parallel government. He had a mobile health services and portable water supply system which he made available to all and sundries at no cost. He was solving the problems of the masses. Things Government was suppose to do and failed, he was doing it without collecting allocation IGR or tax from anyone. There was a time Adebayo could not pay civil servants salary (like Fayemi is owing them now) Fayose asked the government to give him the parol of all the civil servants in EKITI, he would pay. For the first time, Adebayo government felt treatened. To cut it short, Fayose defeated Adebayo, the sitting governor @ the poll (I wouldn't go to the drama and story of PDP primary election that produced him as PDP gubernatorial candidate in 2003, leading to the political demise of S.K.B Babalola) Niyi Adebayo's government lacked structural development in Ekiti State because it was 'paddy-paddy' government. The fund of the government was seriously channelled into funding personal embarkment of some greedy traditional rulers and elites (some of who you see in E-11 today). When Fayose came in 2003, the greedy Obas and the so called elite expected a continum of Adebayo's 'shua-shua' but Fayose did not only decline, he lambasted them in secret and in the open. Then the battle line was drawn. They used everything @ their disposal to fight him. They started with his Ibadan Poly HND certificate scandal. They employed the power of media and intellectual tool. Yet the guy triumphed. They did not stop there, they waged all manners of battles. He also is not a diplomatic person. The more they fought him, te more he fought back. An average Ekiti man knows the battle he was fighting. They were aware he was fighting on the side of the poor masses against the selfish elite. It was a 'class' war! Despite his multi-various battles, development works was going-on throughout Ekiti. Roads were been tarred, dualisation of Ado road commenced, Education was improving and beautiful tources was put on government schools. Health and sport was growing and low cost housing estates was being built in the State. Above all, all workers got dia salary, unfalingly on 27th of every month. Nobody was owed. There was always activities two to appoint the best teacher in schools and the best in other professions (He started the idea of Teacher's Day) People will have enough to eat and there will be ankara for all. He was very accesible. He moved freely in the State and his direct phone number was with everybody in the state. You are free to call your governor @ anytime and he will pick. If he couldn't pick, he will return your calls. Now how many councillors can even do this let aloone a governor. There are others. When I am less busy, I will discuss them.

We can not analyse what is happening in Ekiti base on media reports, Ekiti indegines are in good position to analyse the development.

I used to belong to this school until I started moving in and out of the state. I've had the opportunity to see Fayose on two occasions mixing with the rural masses and witness the love they have for him. These are the people that need to feel good governance and not the minority elites(70% are farmers and rural dwellers).

Ekiti people love Fayose and there's nothing anybody can do about it.

Wow o wow!!! I'm so thrilled. This is why it is not good to be prejudicial. The problem Ayo Fayose is having today is simply because of his relative enlightenment. With all you said, one can easily lay his life for such a man like Ayo. He's the Ekiti version of GMB, loved by the masses, hated by the elites. We all knw that the elite are greedy bunch, never-do-wells and self-appointed "gods". However, Fayose need to understand that some things are best handled by treading according to the law. I was so pissed when I read that his supporters beat up some judges in their court and the subsequent statement he made that nothing can stop his swearing-in..that statement was unnecessary, I still see him as waiting governor and I believe in the will of the people. He shouldn't complicate issues for himself. I've been calling him a thug before now, but I will henceforth stop.

I do have some soft spot for Fayose though for standing up to Obasanjo and his support for Fayemi against his PDP's Segun Oni in 2007 up till 2010 when Oni was kickedout. My problem with him is some of his actions and speech that contravenes democratic tenets and order-like the one on this thread.

Going by what i see and know back then while schooling in Ekiti while Fayose was governor,You can tell that Ekiti people would go an extra mile for this Man cos you would find Fayose in place that even the councillors wouldnt like to be spotted. One dares not talk ill of Fayose in Ekiti else the person stands high risk of having him or herself lynched...They call him different names but the one i can't forget is "Ore mekunnu" which means friend of the poor...The people voted him in so let them face whatever "Softship or Hardship" that comes thereafter from who they wish to govern them...

Am so praying they wont be crisis while swearing the man in and thereafter the swearing ceremony too.....

Ekiti people and Politics is a do or die affair....

Thank u 4 ur timely response. On a particular thread I try enlightning Nairaland that Fayose will always be loved by d ordinary ekiti pple bc in his first tenure he used both his money and d state resource to better d lot of d common man and was impeached by d effort of d elites who wanted Fayose to share ekiti allocation to them but he refused. when Fayemi got there the pple thought he will continue where Fayose stopped unfortunate he served only d interest of d few elites that was why he was voted out to gv room to a trusted friend. unfortunately pple tend to blv d media propaganda of d elites who want Fayose to continue their interstest why d common pple suffer. This time around the pple of ekiti will protect their interest no matter what pple outside d state say about them. Rather than take loan to develop d agricultural sector of d state Fayemi prefer to take loan to build an gorverment lodge unfortunately for him he will not use it for it for even 1wk. Pple should stop listening to propaganda and respect d decision of Ekiti pple. I also was disappointed in APC bc I tot they will study what happenened in Ekiti election and correct their mistake unfortunately they decided that rather loose Ekiti they will use every means at their disposal to prevent d governor elect from being sworn in, they are begginning to make me think they are not a good alternative to PDP.

Fayemi was trying to punish Ekiti pple for not voting for him dat is why he refuse to call off d 7pm- 7am curfew he ordered. Let's think of pple running beer parlor & those selling Akara (beans cake) at night for over 2wks their biz has paralyze. He refuse to pay salary.
Let's be factual! Dis is wickedness. Anyway he is going & he doesn't plan coming back to Ekiti.

It doesn't matter what your feelings are about the sitting Governor and his policies, the law is still the law and you have to respect it.

The clown and petty thug is not the governor of the state and he has no official readings to dictate or redefine any law initiated by the sitting governor, he should have waited till he gets into office and roll in whatever lawless slime he wishes for the people of Ekiti.

What if he lays down his own laws and policies and the folks looks the other way just like he just advised them to do? The thug is foundationing a hostile and lawless society.

Leaders champions the law, they respect and uphold the law, the lead by example and set lawful standards.

You should know that some of us are from Ekiti, and we were there when Fayose just arrived during Adebayo's time. There is no need for you to mix lies with truth in you write up. There are more lies in what you have written up there than truth.

Fayemi only reaped the dividend of his stupidi.ti. On 15th Oct., 2010, Fayemi before he was innaugurated, instructed all Banks to dishonour all financial transactions issued by Oni's administration and he ordered immediate freezing of all Government Accounts. So my Dear, this is karma in action.
