Sincerely speaking, power has increased a bit under GEJ led govt but power is not the only sector needing assistance. the bottom line is that GEJ has no manifesto or guide to good leadership and he has no good track record judging from his days as a deputy governor till date. Buhari might be a dictator but everyone will agree that he has a road map of how the country needs to be in terms of transformation and you'll agree that Nigerians are pigheaded and need a strong hand to guide us right.
And you have forgotten that Buhari has been on that seat before, what were his achievements, can you research and shortlist.Or is he just waking up now ?

It is sad that after 54 years of independence we are still seeing people like GMB in the race. It shows that we are not yet ready for a better Nigeria. I still remember all the human rights abuses during his regime and the wasted PTF funds and so called essential drugs scheme. How helpless Nigerians were flogged on the road because of the WAI

In 2011 Nigerians voted for Jonathan not because he was d right man Bt because some thought dat he was destined to become d president because of his life story. Others voted him because he isn't a Muslim. From 2011 till date I haven't seen anybody that voted Jonathan because he will move the country forward. The worst is my fellow Christians and igbos many are just supporting Jonathan because he is a christian. Change is what we need, Jonathan isn't that change.

i don't agree that buhari has a roadmap to better the country.
Buhari is a dictator and this is a democracy with a vibrant pro active opposition so tell me, how does buhari intend to make democracy where the opposition might just decide to oppose you on principle work for him?
Is it by strong arming or bullying people? Won't work and remember, anybody with half the will can make dictatorship work so buharis "alleged" success is no big deal given the context of the polity of the day but ask yourself this question, at what cost? Is it at the cost of abuse of peoples rights? At the cost of misscariage of justice and/or injustice? Remember the old saying that the worst democracy is better than the best dictatorship? U think that is just empty talk? If he got in and gave you these things u say we're lacking, do you think you still wont crave and value your lost freedom and rights more? U never know what you have until you lose it. So about Nigerians needing a strong arm yes just not buhari's arm.
I'll leave you with this parting shot. It's better to find a guilty man innocent than to find an innocent man guilty so be carefull of the anti-corruption crusader you ask for, you or someone you know might end up being innocent victims of his overzealous crusade.

forget this sermon! Obasanjo was also a dictator and he ruled under Democratic government for 8years!!! Since GEJ came to power, what positive transformation has he achieved?
lemme give you negatives of GEJ led government:

longest strike action in the two most important sectors of the economy "health and education"

Insecurity and abduction "bokoharam"

Massive theft of public fund "missing $20bn, $700m kerosene subsidy, aviation minister looting, $15m arms deal laundry... etc"

Immigration tragedy

the list is endless. and you want me to vote that loser that had no shoes but now he has a mansion full of shoes and he still wants to take the one the masses are managing! NEVER! I won't make such a mistake.

Unfortunately I can't give you links and lot of materials to read because I am not a historian. However if you don't mind reading I have pasted a link to a research article which I saw online. I was in secondary school at the time and I still remember the WAI soldiers who flogged people at bus stops. Nigeria in the 80s' for those of us who know was almost a failed state. At a time, bread was a luxury and things only went from bad to worse. There was no ROAD MAP for development, no REAL economic plan. Granted, Buhari's regime was not as corrupt as others but it was CLUELESS like the others. Human rights was non-existent. Ask lecturers, doctors, lawyers and journalists at the time. I know there will be a great future for this country but we have to STOP LOOKING BACKWARDS. GEJ is not perfect but he is the ONLY head of state in a long time who has A ROAD MAP in every sector. For once we know where we are going. The corruption we all make noise about IS IN ALL OF US. We can only stamp it out COLLECTIVELY if we all agree to stop feeding from the crumbs that fall off the politicians' tables.

As far as I am concerned Olisa Metuh is on point. Especially with Agriculture. Also all the micro-credit schemes, SURE-P etc. We have a long way to go but if its to leave this present path and follow the path of GMB I think that will be like moving backwards. Nigerians be careful, its not just about voting out PDP. Look at the candidate carefully. Go to National archives and read old newspapers of the military regime. May God help this country.

Another link. These are political scientists and lecturers' research write-ups and not mere opinion. Infact, anyone over 40 years who is campaigning for anybody who ruled Nigeria between 1979 and 1999 is likely doing it for selfish gain. All former heads of state should not be allowed a second chance in this country. Till date, the ONLY head of state; albeit military who is celebrated in this country was late Murtala Mohammed.

Sorry I seem to keep quoting you, but you just said it all. LIBERALITY AND INNOVATIVE MIND. We need that desperately in this country at this point in time. Do you think a blog like Nairaland where you and I can express ourselves freely could have ever existed in this country without such a leader? My brother FREEDOM is GOLD. Forget all this talk about stamping out corruption. Its not gonna happen from top to bottom only. It must go both ways. No matter how zealous GMB is, he will still cave in like GEJ to his party cronies who paid 27m for his nomination form. If APC fields a better candidate maybe we will consider. But to keep recycling past leaders just BOGGLES THE MIND.

my pregnant mum was imprisoned for 6 months for having her signature forged on documents clearing imported goods out of a nigerian port as a transporter even when she wasn't around to append her signature to the document. Even with evidence showing that she was at the general hospital having my then 2 year old elder sister admitted for treatment on that day of all days (GOD works in mysterious ways), they still locked her up, even after the real culprits were tracked, found with the missing vehicle, some of the stolen goods and arrested after their confessions attesting to my mums innocence, they still locked her up for her inability to come up with the N60,000 bail set for her release (trust me, this was a huge amount in 1985). Seeing the injustice, the greek and german owners of the company owning the stolen goods, came up with the money and aggressively lobbied the authorities before they reluctantly agreed to release my 8 months pregnant mother after conducting a medical test to confirm that an obviously 8 months pregnant woman was truly pregnant and ought to be released (on a hefty bail).
After releasing my mother on bail, no futher charges were brought up against her till date, though some of the anti-corruption task force and policemen accused my mum of being too bold to be doing buisness in an area which should exclusively be a mans domain but actually, that doesn't constitute into a crime, does it?
I was born a month after my mother was released from prison on bail.
And on my father's vehement insistence, my mum called it quits with her transport buisness after that incident after she rationalized that she was only saved by GOD seeing as she had no powerfull backers to protect her. Bottom line, she decided she would rather be a broke living mother to her kids than be a rich dead or imprisoned mother, and that is how the dreams of a budding young entrepreneur was snuffed out.

This was done under the regime of general buhari so u can all vote for gmb if you beleive mass miscarriage of justice (other people have their own tales to tell too) is equivalent to anti corruption and discipline. go ahead and vote for him, if you beleive that every single position/opportuinity should be held by a nothern hausa/fulani muslim(check his record, his nepotism is unrivaled my source is once again my mum who said and i quote "jobs and contracts with goverment parastatals dried up, you can queue from morning to evening and receive no notice but an hausa man will come by 3:50pm shout rankadede to everybody and receive the job everbody had been lobbying for all day, so every non hausa could only work with private firms"wink vote for gmb. I have been reading messages on this thread and so far, no one has accused gej of nepotism meaning under his leadership, Nigerians of all tribes and religions have equal opportuinities and we also have freedom of expression an association.

So am not asking for your forgiveness if i don't buy your anti-corruption and disciplinarian gibberish about gmb and proactively campaign against him, maybe that is one of the reasons i and my mother survived.

This is my own personal story and if gmb succeeds in entering Aso rock come 2015, be it on your heads. You'll be reaping what you sowed.

CHIKENA!!
it's pathetic that some people think buhari has anything good to offer; whereas buhari represent the face of lawlessness, lies and bigotry. The good news is: buhari doesn't stand a chance against gej, fact.

As we can see Buhari has 20 states as against Goodluck's 16 states and if considering that the larger population of the electorates reside in the North and Southwest it stands to reason that Buhari will be our next president, but that is if the contest is going to be free and fair.

4,000 megawatts in 15 years should be an achievement. But total shame to the PDP. Mr. Metu please cover your face with shame and stop talking.

1st or 3rd largest economy in Africa where over 80million of the populace can't guarantee two square meals a day! That's the true picture on ground and not a rebased economy.

Education is grounded,

health care seriously flocked,

no employment or employment in stadium,

security is non existence,

airviation leaves much to be desired,

no single refinery working after all the promises,

corruption at its peak since the Abacha/Ibb regimes.

I will continue counting because nothing works. These GEJ and his crue are bunch of political jokers.

Change is constant. GMB is not the desired change we expect still.
