Many Nigerians might not know what is happening in Brass and Nembe,a small community in Bayelsa.Although, I do not blame them because their ignorance is justified as I am still surprise why the media houses are not broadcasting the blood shed going on even currently on their waters. Is it political? Is Goodluck Jonathan ignoring the fact that behind his backyard lies true stories of human torture, judicial blood shed and ultimately pirate crimes, that has led to the brutal murder of innocent victims,as well as human degradation (throwing of their victims into the sea to drown and devoured by dangerous fishes). Is it political I say?Why is the media not carrying this horrible News of kidnapped old pensioners whose bodies are then buried in shallow graves. What is the difference between BOko Haram and what is going on in Brass and Member? What will it cost the FG to send battalions in the creek from whence this pirates comes from to execute them all. They kill their victims, throw them inside the water and drive off with their speed boats.I am so surprise that the reports of how police officers, Armies and Naval officers who are also victims is yet to be reported. I ask again,is it political?Or are the local leaders trying to help cover this facts because,"Good luck na our pikin, make we no spoil him govt.Make we dey hide our dead body".The President claimed BH is APC, now is APC responsible for the calamities that is happening in Bayelsa? WHY IS IT NOT IN THE NEWS THAT OUR MILITARY AND POLICE AND AND NAVAL OFFICERS are killed by sophisticated weapons,100% times better than what YOU provide for them?My heart really goes to innocent Bayelsans travelling home this festive period. This your Government really get K leg.Let me stop here.I choose not to go further.

@OP:
Thank you for bringing this to light. Let me tell you that this isn't a new thing. It peaked in 2006 when President Jonathan was the Governor of Bayelsa state. LG officials were killed unreported, some lucky ones kidnapped while others tortured. This is powered by politics in Bayelsa. The government of BY since 1999 institutionalised militancy, thuggery, hooliganism and abuse of human right. President Obasanjo did his best to contain it while in power(though not using the appropriate strategy), but it became worse in 2007 and more since 2010. It is a pity that Bayelsa have no opposition figure to look up to to librate themselves save disgraced exGov Timipre Sylva. It is sad and really sad, Bayelsans are in serious bondage but more pathetic that some of them are yet to realise it. I feel the pains because they are fellow Izons, but one thing I know for sure is that "the wind of change" that swept SW in 2011 will visit Bayelsa sooner or later.

God bless Nigeria

A certain nairalander (i have forgotten his name) opened an exact thread few weeks ago.

Piracy, militancy and other criminal activities are still going on in the Niger delta creeks but the government and the media to an extent seems to be silent about it.

The social and enviromental problems in the Niger delta are still there viz: poverty, youth restiveness, oil spillage, water pollution, land degradation etc etc

what has president JonaTAN done for his Niger delta people aside from enriching criminals like ateke tom, asari dokubo and tompolo - who now owns a private jet
Re: Beserk Brass:An Unreported Story Of A Suffering Community by Nobody: 4:14pm On Nov 01, 2014
@ Arch1: this is why I get disgusted whenever some of my brothers in the creek clamour for the reelection of Jonathan Ebelemi…. With due respect to his excellency, Jonathan was a mediocre Governor in Bayelsa who can't pin-point ANY development despite the HUGE resources he had. Sadly, his successors are either worse or at a par with him-i mean sylva and incumbent Seriake dickson. It is a shame that as President, he couldn't muster the political will to address the security situation in the Delta-which he was a part of but instead he rewards the criminals in his fake amnesty.
Bayelsa shall realise someday

Are you sure of what you are saying? Because there is a TV program I watch every week where jetta amata or what's his name (the nollywood actor) selects youth from the communities around there and train them on acting etc. And if these things you claim actually happens how comes his show is not affected?

What surprises mevus the fact that NO MEDIA house is carrying this. Just recently 6 policemen were short dead! Are we for waste for the FG?Is President Jonathan using the menace of Book haram in the North to hide the barbaric blood shed still going on in Bayelsa?Where did this criminals get thus sophisticated weapons that even a glorified DSS would frown on?is the SA deal part of the arms being shared? After all,our military do not have such sophisticated weapons even to combat Boko Haram.

We are not talking about some 'show' of some actors and some selected 'few'(some of this youths are paid representatives)here that isn't making waves in the NEWS and paper Media of true and present stories of heinous crimes in Bayelsa creeks here.Even at that what has the FG done yo stop this human/inhumane sacrifice?

It is only those that doesn't understand the Delta that will believe all is well. I say this before God and man that nothing is well in Niger Delta creeks. I won't say God will judge them, but I blame the students, the graduates and "supposed" enlightened Youths of Ijaw extraction who rather than use the opportunity of education that majority of our parents didn't have to better the community, vie for leadership positions, enlighten the populace, train them and teach them of their powers as a citizen in a democratic society, how to hold the leaders accountable and responsible and advise political leaders, they prefers to maintain the status quo, remain unenlightened, partake in and support thuggery, militancy and other attrocities, and on the long run suffer for their actions while the community remains bastardised. It is a big shame my dear.

Its funny that even those wey never see water with their eye get opinion about militancy/piracy in the Niger delta.
Be that as it may, these past few months has seen a steady increase in sea piracy especially along the Brass/Nembe axis which has led to loss of lives and property. What baffles me is that there is a security vote set aside for such eventualities if they should ever occur and the vote is meant to support our security personnel on the waters.
The activities of sea pirates has led to a strike action by speed boat operators even as at yesterday I couldn't go to site because of the strike which affected up to dredgers.
During the tenure of Timipre Sylva, the activities of pirates came down a bit though I wager it was because he camped most of the major militant leaders on villas scattered across the Bayelsa govt house complex and spent huge sums of money petting and "entertaining" them which caused quite a scandalous stir.
I feel the cause of this recent upsurge and I repeat RECENT upsurge is because of the federal governments clampdown on the illegal refinement of crude oil and this has made a lot of the youths who were "engaged" to become jobless. I still make my stand, the FG should allow these people operate modular refineries and pay appropriate taxes, it will crash the price of petroleum products and reduce militancy/piracy to the barest minimum.

If GEJ were worth his mettle by now there should be a mainland dual carriage way/bridge linking Nembe with Yenegoa, in fact it should be complete with standard rail guage running from Yenegoa to Warri then Aladja thereby linking it up to Ajaokuta then to Abuja.

The guy has not really done much for Niger Delta.

this was exactly some of the discussion I had with friend s last week in Brass. There is absolutely no infrastructures to convey people easily to and fro apart from the few boats which is always at the mercies of bloody sea pirates.

lets assume you have been to Nembe before, can you possibly explain how a bridge can be constructed from there right to Yenagoa ? That aside, do you know there's a road project from Amakalakala to Nembe under construction going on right now with 4wd vehicles plying that route NOW at one thousand naira per passenger ? Please focus on what you know about and leave the rest for others

Currently the maritime workers union r on strike because of sea piracy ,my humble opinion is that the Chief security officer of Bayelsa state has not done enough to curb this ugly trend in the state.More gun boats should be posted to the Ogbia,Nembe and Brass axis.Haaaa Izon God bless Niger Delta Republic
