Hmmm, nne stroke is bad oo.
I am not a doctor o but have seen many patients.
Whats is his condition now. The left side of brain usually paralyses the right hand and leg.

How did it happen to him? Did he suddenly fall?
Was it caused by High BP? Cos it can be done with african juju too. Sure about that.
How old is he? Cos age has effect on recovery too.
Any paralysis?
Did it affect his speech, memory?
Did it twist his mouth?

You need to state a lot so that people can advice you properly.

Normally stroke has no known clear cut cure cos the brain cells don't grow when damaged or cut off and that's what stroke does, though with time the part of the brsin not affected could start taking the functions of the other part. But stroke is managed usually with physiotherapy.
Many people get help through unorthodox means too. One of the popular places for that in Anambra is Enugu Ukwu.
Cheers!

he has diabetes and high bp, the doctors said his blood pressure was high and stress caused it.

it affected his speech when you talk to him he doesnt understand, he keeps talking about something else.

he is 62

it didn't affect him physically just his speech and he doesn't recognize people most of the time but he keeps talking about going out.

we've gone to different churches one we went to said his brother was responsible for it but we don't really know what to believe
Another church we went to said we should ask him what he did and pray for mercy

the stressful part is he doesn't even know he's sick he wakes up everyday wanting to go out to one place or another
Re: Stroke Of The Left Side Of The Brain by Lawstudent: 11:28am On Nov 04, 2014
Nne you guys are lucky o, esp given that he has no paralysis.
Just know that the doctors esp in stroke cases are in a fix too. Some might just want to keep him, thats if he is still in a hospital, and collect money.
But I guess his chances of recovery are high.
But you guys should make sure his Bp is checked always. So there is need now to get d digital machine for checking bp, cost around 4k on the average. Or buy the manual one, preferrably 'accosson bp' costs stound 10k, dats the originak, maybe with a stethoscope too.
Note that you can learn how to handle it yourself.

Regarding church, it can be confusing too. Some will just say that it was caused by another just to say sth, some will say they won't call names, but know though that juju can inflict that on one.

I reiterate that I know some persons that got cured through unorthodox means. Some through orthodox.

At any rate I think he will recover.

Gud u have these things.
As per the traditional means, there is a place in Enugu ukwu that many ppl, a distant uncle inclusive, have vouched for the efficacy of their drugs. The place is close to R.O Nkwochas compound Enugu ukwu. Nkwochas compound is popular in enugu ukwu.

Just watch his recovery first. Ask around too, there is no hard and fast rule.
Gud luk.

It is not well till it is well
First, make sure you pray
Second, I recommend that you get TREVO. You can google it with respect to its effectiveness on stroke. It also takes care of diabetes, hbp
I'm a firm believer of supplements because it has worked for people that i recommended it to also it contains in major quantity what you can not find in drugs and in our food in the appropriate proportions and because it's natural all the way.
He may have to take more than 1bottle: dosage 4 caps daily, you can get it from any chemist and if not contact me 08171896562

I think it is difficult for men to survive, men tend to want independence, they feel reduced when hit by stroke.

My advice to you trend101, try to get him male companions. Let them discuss events, football, history etc. Try recalling his hobbies, present him with the opportunity. These will give him a sense of belonging.

I am sorry about your Father`s stroke. My thoughts and prayers are with him. And you too, as you stand by him during this difficult time. You`ve given good information for me to work with. Thank you.

The left side of the brain deals predominantly with comprehending, processing and using language. Hence, a stroke in that part of the brain causes language impairment. There are two main types. What you described sounds like (see the sentence I bolded above) he has what is known as wernicke`s aphasia. There is an area in the left side of the brain known as wernicke`s area. Wernicke`s aphasia occurs when the posterior/back side of the left hemisphere has been damaged. Don`t worry about the name; it just comes from the German-Neuropsychiatrist, Carl Wernicke, who identified this part of the left hemisphere. It isn`t abnormal to see anger or violence in stroke patients. It is part of the effects of the brain injury itself, so right now he can`t control it, but as he get better it will pass. It will take time; please be patient with him. The violence he expresses might also be due to the frustration he`s experiencing due to the communication problems he is having. People with wernicke`s aphasia are not aware that they have trouble understanding you and that other people aren`t understanding them either, so it can be frustrating for them when they are not been heard. It could also be side effects of the meds he is taking, but in this case, I doubt it. Remain calm. Don`t argue. If you find that there are things that set him off, then avoid them. I would likewise suggest behavioural therapy to help him manage the anger, if you guys can afford it.

Wernicke`s aphasia is not as difficult to treat as the other major type seen in stroke patients, Broca`s aphasia, so there`re strategies you can use to ease the communication:
-When you speak with him, use gestures (point, use your eyes to gaze toward the subject/object, etc). Gestures are extremely helpful for helping kids pick up language quickly, so they would be very relevant here.
-Be in the present when speaking with him (note: I said `with`, not `to`).
-Don`t patronize or yell at him if he doesn`t understand him or you do not understand him.
-Speak slowly. This doesn`t mean you should talk to him like he`s a kid, but pause, let him catch up, don`t use big words.
-Be close enough to maintain eye contact with him when speaking with him (don`t speak with him from across a room).

FOH with your trevo BS.. It is criminal to give unsubstantiated claims especially when it comes to someone's health..
Re: Stroke Of The Left Side Of The Brain by drered(m): 8:22pm On Nov 04, 2014
Hi.. Stroke is a brain dysfunction that causes neurological deficit depending on the part of the brain affected.. So this means the presenting symptom will depend on the part of the brain affected.. See, the brain requires a constant supply of blood and when this blood supply is cut for as little as 30 seconds unconciousness will occur and in 4minutes there will be permanent brain damage.. The major risk factor for stroke is hypertension, diabetes and heart disease so apparently your dad had two of the major predisposing factor. Your primary care giver should have properly educated your dad/your family on this risk of developing stroke.. Uncontrolled hypertension will cause weakening of the blood vessels and increase the chances of an intracranial aneurysm(ballooning of a weakend blood vessel which eventually bursts) and the blood leak in the brain will have severe consequences depending on what part of the brain that is affected.. Diabetes on the other hand will favour the formation of an atheriosclerotic plaque and narrowing of your blood vessels which not only makes hypertension worse but can also cause the formation of a clot( either locally; thrombus or a dislodged clot;embolus) in a blood vessel supplying the brain also cutting off blood supply.. So you see how this isn't caused by evil forces? but by not properly managing his co-morbidities? For anyone reading this it is very important to manage hypertension and diabetes when they occur seperately and it is even of more concern when they occur together.. I'd like to know what kind of stroke he has; hemorrhagic or ischemic as this usually determines the kind of therapy he should be placed on and the prognosis.. It is very important that his blood sugar level and blood pressure is strictly controlled.. The target blood pressure here is 130/80.. Make sure he ALWAYS take his med and you also have to be very patient with him and understand that him not being able to comprehend certain things isn't exactly is fault..

The thing is he wakes up every morning wanting to travel to do a job (he was meant to travel before the stroke) now everyday he keeps asking us to go with him we refuse saying there's no money to travel.

yesterday night he made us pack his bags, and yesterday afternoon he got aggressive when we said there was no money and he locked me and my mom out of the house for like two hours till his friend came.. He managed to take his drugs cause we put it in his food, why he's asleep now, I don't know what to expect today but I'M hoping nothing as stressful as yesterday.

On a good note his blood pressure has gone down it was 300+ when he had the stroke, now it's 103 and we are thinking of reducing his drugs

Please are you a doctor cause you sound so informed, your post was really helpful and I'll try the techniques you talked about but I doubt it'll work cause my dad is really difficult even before the stroke.

If we had proper education about this the stroke would've been avoided, his blood pressure is 113/70 we checked it yesterday with that automatic machine. His nurse is coming today so she'll check it again.

He is difficult to be patient with but we are trying.

where did you see its efficacy? You carried out clinical trials to ascertain its efficacy against stroke? The manufactures state that trevo cannot be used to diagnose or cure any conditions true or true?..
