NL's should take this guy out of there, I sense the family are trying to play games, the money is already in the account, what's stopping them from taking him to luth, I sense something, pls, let's radically force them to respond and take the guy to the hospital so that they won't play games with his life.

The OP is still very much lucid.
he is an adult, he shud tell the family where he wants to be treated.

I wish him luck all the same

Have you thought about the passport, visa and ticket?

How do you hope to achieve that in the next 24-48hrs undecided undecided

Passports can be processed in 24 hrs and the Indian embassy gives medical visa same day
There must be someone here working in a passport office that can help

Been reading dis thread from page 1 to d 32nd page & feel its time to contribute.
First,I wud try and send my widows mite 2moro or latest tuesday.
All those castigating Luth shd tarry a while.I still think d best option for him is either luth, lasuth or uch. What may av contributed to his poor management is finance and d typical nig way of things and proper person being assigned to a task only when money and some kind of pressure is placed on those involved.
All those saying protocols were too much shd understand dat any dr worth his salt,be it in us,india or israel wud still nid to carry out a proper workup of a patient(tests, scans etc) b4 arriving at a definitive diagnosis.Medicine is not magic anywhere in d world but science.
Evn if eventually he has to travel out,y don't we all creat awareness and cash for him to explore d best we av here & referral outside if it comes to it.
Op,got ur acc numb, wud send sth soon, and put u in prayers and pls do av some faith in our healthcare system,I bliv wt dis awareness and resources d right specialist and hastened attention wud b given to ur case.

There is already a diagnosis
Chronic liver disease they say.He doesn't need any more tests
What is the cure for CLD with massive ascites that he has?
Do they do liver biopsies in Nigeria
Did LUTH do any?
I think not
But assuming they do one,
after the biopsy what?
Can they help him any further?
I think not
He will just spend all that money and be right at the same spot

Someone talked about scams in India but there are real ones too
I know that

Just read Caracta's last post . Abeokuta then. Good that Caracta is also following up on the case.
You know, the issue is delicate, OP makes the final decision regardless of how we all feel. At this point, we'd all have to put him in our prayers ,hope all turns out well.

BTW, saw the TEHN thread. Don't even know what to say undecided

I think we need a Plan B...just in case Abeokuta didn't turn out well. I'm not a pessimist...but it's good to plan ahead.

Passport can be processed in 24hrs but you have to look for someone working at the passport office on NL undecided undecided

So you don't even have a contact for that in the first place but somehow you know it takes 24hrs

The man needs immediate attention and hospital not running around embassy trying to get 24hrs passport and visa with other 20 billion other candidates waiting on the que!!

And what is wrong with that?
Have I ever claimed to be a know all?
Who knew someone here could donate 150k in a flash,do you know the people that could be reading this?
He needs immediate attention and that attention is not available in Nigeria
Let's be real

Anything short of taking him abroad will be a waste of money
You folks are screaming take him to LUTH. Take him to LUTH
He has been to LUTH and their diagnosis is in black and white before us
They cannot help him further after that diagnosis
I walked the Hallways of UNTH as a med school on med/surg rotations and we saw patients like this and all that is done is repeated blood work to check on their decline until they die

I am sorry for those who see my words as cold
I am speaking nothing but the truth
The faces of those patients are still before me

Let someone help make him a passport, let us channel energy towards taking him out for treatment,he need not spend the money he has gathered so far on anyone in Abeokuta or anywhere else, not even LUTH

A trado-medicine home? shocked shocked shocked shocked
You know, its the right of the patient to decide things like these. If he says he doesn't want LUTH, we have to make him readjust his mind. If he says and insists its the Abeokuta hospital, we have to readjust our own minds. Even doctors agrEe they don't heal people, its God alone who does. Then off to Abeokuta we go. Hopefully, with his mind set on that hospital, he will be fine.

Hian @driver missing! What kind of thing is this one na? Plus UCH going on strike! Chai! Abasi Mbok!!!!!

No it's not a trado-medicine home. From what i gathered from that report, he is a Professor of Medicine who has been able to event low-tech medical equipment by himself to perform delicate medical procedures. But the question that begs for answer is- can he handle or is he specialised in the field of medicine that is required to handle OP's case?

I know Reddington (in Idowu Martins) is a good hospital, but quite expensive. But the price is still better when compared to travelling abroad. He should really consider trying out LUTH again before travelling to ABK in his state of health.

Re: I Need Help by dominique(f): 8:34pm On Nov 09, 2014
I'm very wary of this Abeokuta facility, how i wish anyone living in that region can shed more light on it. I have to comb the past pages to look for tge poster that has a contact at Luth. This is another appeal to anyone that knows a senior doctor in LUTH or LASUTH should have him monitored once he gets there so he does not get badly treated again. Teaching hospital is the way to go at this point.

I just got off the phone with Hamed, he says his family is insisting on not taking him back to LUTH cos of the embarrassment they got when he was first admitted there.
Can someone or a group of people go down there tomorrow and discuss with his family pls? Op is NOT supposed to be at HOME! He should be following this thread from a HOSPITAL bed for Chrissake!!! I have my heart in my mouth as I type this cos I fear for him, I fear for his survival.
Whatever has to be done should PLEASE commence tommorow, time is of great essence here and sentiments should be flung aside. Once again, I sincerely thank EVERYONE who has made this campaign a success, while mankind awaits a sickness-free world, I hope Hamed regains his health soon. Caracta, Gboliwe and those I didn't mention, pls don't relent till Hamed is well again. May God bless you abundantly...

So embarrassment is now priority when health is involved? May God have mercy!
Re: I Need Help by bibiking7(m): 8:38pm On Nov 09, 2014
I dont think that he can travel far in his current state from the pictures. He should try Reddington and then give feedback on the cost. Then further sourcing for funds will commence.
Re: I Need Help by Nobody: 8:38pm On Nov 09, 2014
My relative was flown out on a stretcher to India
He couldn't walk speak, recognize anyone, written off for dead and the doctor asked he be taken to the village,(closer to the grave)
If it's not his time,he won't die till help comes

If everyone who has a job, especially those overseas pitch in and we all contribute $100 and some give more and others how ever much they can,we can get this young man and a relative to India

Caracter, Gboliwe, Chaircover and co.
We have deliberated long enough on this issue, we have examined the facts, pros and cons. It's about time a concrete and tangible decision is made. But it's not our call to make such, it's the parents. We are just what I'm going to call the ''Samaritans'' here. Since the financial resources which had hitherto been Hameds problem has been solved to some extent. I'll strongly advise you impress it on the parents to do whatever they so decide. Our responsibility here should be to support and offer advice to the parents in their decisions.
ENOUGH OF DELIBERATION, TIME FOR ACTION. Thanks

But how soon enough will we ba able to come up with funds for him to travel? What do you suggest he do till then? Those people you mentioned had funds available and that's not the case here.
Re: I Need Help by ifyalways(f): 8:45pm On Nov 09, 2014
Passport can be processed and ready by morrow evening,I have that link but theres no way he would get Indian visa in less than 7 days at most, realistically speaking. So many worst cases already on ground at the Indian embassy. Besides, ticket, logistics , going back and forth with family would delay the whole process. We dont have that luxury of time.

@Caracta, what do you suggest we work with as plan B? Where does the OP stay?

And you are so sure of these how?

Even if you know the president, they are not going to carry the passport machine to your house cus he still need to finger print for the passport and I don't think this man has energy for that now.......

Ok. But does he really need to travel by road to ABK. I know Reddingon can, but that depends on the available funds.

babyosisi and I have been shouting "take him to india" and nobody seems to be listening. I have consulted widely since I joined this post and every doctor I have spoken to has said fly him out. just a few minutes ago I got off the phone with the doctor of a well known hospital in lekki phase 1 and he re-echoed the same thing. Naija does not have the facility for biopsies and I say that from experience. what they do is trial and error in cases of this nature after all who has ever sued a hospital for negligence if things go wrong. please lets get smart.

Having said all I this
I hope to be wrong
I know I love to win arguments but this is one I want to lose
Let me be the one overreacting and that LUTH can give a curative treatment to this
I would be glad to be so wrong and so way off here

Happy Sunday everyone

To DJDOLA,

I have nothing but admiration for you and the will to live that you have exhibited here
Please keep hope alive
Miracles still do happen
Let help come
I prayed for you in church today with tears in my eyes
let help come speedily for you from unusual places
You shall not die,may you live to share this testimony yourself
That is my heartfelt desire
And I ask God to make this a reality through Christ working in the hearts of men to help you.

Read the freaking thread please, there is a doctor's diagnosis somewhere in it
Who can diagnose cirrhosis from a picture?
You can tell acute from chronic from a photograph

DJDOLA, the victim says he doesn't want to go to LUTH. He as the patient makes that decision. If he says he prefers Abeokuta, fine. Let's support him to Abeokuta. According to caracta, his family say they have testimonies coming from there. What I don't get is why they didn't take him all the while and they had to try two or more private hospitals first, then LUTH and ended up at home. Why didn't they take him to Abeokuta all the while?
I can only sit in my room and rant and shout, finally, I am not in Lagos, neither am I "patient" relative.

Well done Caracta. Plan B will still be LUTH. Abi should we start the india process already? I am sure that God will never let finance be a stumbling block to its actualisation.
