Those Oyo and Ogbomosho marks are serious mehn...tiger claws print grin . Its almost extinct now anywway, but you can bet some village folks wouldn't let it for quite sometime yet.

Most of those yoruba old women have those tatoos were they write all sorts of stuff, some you can make out what's written and some you can't, looks cool tho.
Lmao @ Oyo folks. You just need to see the Alaafin's face to know what time it is - imperial tribal marks of the great Oyo empire. Legendary folks!(Off topic: I'm still trying to find the source of Oyo's imperial cavalry but it seems everything points to the Bariba).

The tattoos look cool, but not as artistic as the modern ones.

From the books I've come across also it all points to the Baribas and the Nupes to a lesser extent, but we don't know where they got the horses from. Some scholars dispute it came from the Baribas and Nupes stating;they as well as Oyos and the Hausalands under the Fulanis must have had a primary source.

Oyo most likely learnt the art of the calvary from the Baribas were they spent many years in exile after the Nupes sacked Oyo-ile. The Baribas were excellent horsemen no doubt even till this day. The Hausa slaves were mostly tasked with manning the stables and taking care of the horses of the Oyo army.

Thanks.

The Baribas were also under Oyo for a long time. And the fact that they were proper horsemen, the African version of the Normans, makes it more plausible.
