Kids college plans, Looming mid life crisis, menopause, varicose veins, tight finances.

By 40, you should have a home , retirement money kept aside .
If not, start saving aggressively.

Trust fund for kids if any.
Your will .
All accounts must be known to your partner or lawyer .

If you are not married, invest your time in social care after work, help train some less privileged.

meaning... You should
be good and proficient in what you do
be less of a spendthrift
be able to identify your past mistakes and start working on correcting them if possible
be a parent
be more careful in all you do like driving
be engaged in routine exercises
be working on your retirement plan
be getting closer to your God
and a lot more...
