Don't call me sir,I guesed its the way I approched u, and am sorry, still a teen. If the next Governor likes he will call for work to resume on the project,he also replicated same gesture in Asaba, abandoning the flyover and the mall, though they've resumed work on Effurun mall recently, and it was supposed to open 1st.

Don't worry, you are a big Sir in the making grin grin grin
You will even go much further than us because you will learn and understand the issues around Nigeria much better at an early age. Most of us made costly mistakes to learn the hidden tensions that periodically boil over into violent outbursts and riots.I live in Lagos today and not Kaduna where i stayed back after my NYSC because i learnt that bitter but critical lesson about Nigeria. I thank God that i made up my mind and left then, because it has steadily gotten worse in the north and I don't know how i would have been comfortable raising a family there now.Anyway, that is a story for another day grin

Yes,there is Igbo in Delta state. Some of us are referred to as Ika as you move further away from the River Niger. However, I can say it has become a matter of personal choice to choose Igbo or Benin affliation for some of us. Sometimes, it is more expedient to be called a non-Igbo in the presence of other ethnic groups, especially as some Igbo guys used to tell me that i wasn't really Igbo even when i speak better Igbo than they do. But i chose my Igbo identity because of my family's repeated stories that we are Igbo, and were able to trace our family lineage back, their experience during the war at Ozubulu where they stayed and were totally accepted, needless to say my Dad was also a Biafran army soldier and he had many stories of what caused the war or better how Igbo were forced to fight for their right to live, how it was ruthlessly used as an excuse to emasculate Igbo and a nearly perfect marginalization scheme to make Igbo " Odi ndu, onwu ka nma" a living dead in Nigeria. Only our elder sister is married at Onicha-Ugbo, the others are married in Anambra and the fact that most of my childhood was also spent in Enugu and other places in the SE.

By the way, I was aware of the Asaba flyover construction flagoff, but didn't know it had been abandoned already!
If this assertion is true, i really wonder what is going on in Delta state now?

Enugu moves to stop unauthorised billboards

The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has said that it would arrest and prosecute any person posting bills in unauthorised places in the state.

Managing Director of the agency, Mr Dominic Okonkwo, told newsmen in Enugu that it had deployed enforcement teams to arrest offenders.

Okonkwo said that offenders would be punished in accordance with the Enugu State Sanitation Law. According to him, the authority’s goal is to make Enugu the cleanest state in the country.

“I do not know why people choose to paste posters on bus-stop shelters, dumpsters, and public and private signage.

“They deface our beautiful bus stops and dumpsters thereby defacing the aesthetics of the coal city.

“People should cooperate with us so that we can serve them better,’’ he said. The managing director warned residents of the state who were in the habit of contravening the law, especially politicians, to desist from such acts in the interest of peace. He decried the constant failure of the citizens to bag their refuse, adding that it was a challenge to effective service by ESWAMA.

Okonkwo said the authority was in the process of providing dumpsters on every street in the state.

Never knew Ethiopia is a landlock country. Maybe that's why they priority on Aviation, which is what we should do in South East

Unemadu:Seconded. Plus we need a cargo terminal. How can we get visa processing done in the south east or Enugu especially.

South East is no landlocked. Whoever is spreading this lie ought to be arrested and dealt with. Yorubas have been spreading this lie for years and some Igbos now believe it. Common sense will tell people that the on-going Onitsha River Port is a port for a reason...water leads from somewhere to somewhere for vessels to sail to and fro of the port; this is common sense except we all thought it was a lake; body of water surrounded by land; if that were the case how will it be a port when vessels can't move to and fro.

The proposed Abia State Obuaku seaport is less than five miles to the Atlantic Ocean; more closer than Port Harcourt port. We have to get our geography right. Major Water pathways lead to and fro of South East via Onitsha, Anambra and Obuaku, Abia State, and other minor waterways. WE ARE NOT LANDLOCKED especially to those in the SW who wish we were for reasons I don't know if not EVIL intent!

Visa processing; major embassies having an outreach consulate in SE; Enugu, is something Enugu state would have to EARN by having very functional airport! No ethnic group in Nigeria travels more than the Igbos! These embassies know this and can maximize their profit having locations in our backyard. The city is already very functional; it just needs an airport that rivals Abuja and Lagos; slash their passengers by 1/3. Someone on this thread emphasize this notion of functional airport; passenger and cargo capability, and hangers, personally, I think it's the gateway to Enugu assuming the number 2 role after Abuja; although Abuja is fast becoming like Lagos...busy, noisy,e.t.c.; I'll pick Enugu anyday to live in than Abuja.

I wish other state governments in the East will occasionally look at social media to see what their people are complaining about and seriously address it.
Many states in the SE don't even have websites and the ones that do, you cannot reach the government officials or the governor on their website! Last year while in USA, someone asked me how he could establish a factory in Nigeria. I shamefully replied that he should write a letter to the government house, hopefully some will respond to his offer. He said, "Don't they have a state website that i could send my letter electronically?
Ofcourse they had, but you couldn't e-mail anyone in government from the state website!!! What a shame!

Therefore, I applaud whoever works in ENSG taking action to address social ills observed from any source.

This has been my main objective from day one, an avenue of reaching the government to tell them how we feel about them, and to load the vehicle with very high content tbat it must not fail to catch their attention. I think someone in authority is reading us here, so we should keep things calm and focused towards a better Enugu state.

Business as usual politicians are all possessed with demon of greed. They are people who were born and bred in poverty, like our shoeless and corruption riddled president.

They are so much possessed with kleptomanic spirit, that they never stopped stealing, even at the point of death. One attribute of this kind of politicians is that they are bereft of conscience, shame and humanity. To them, the world begins and ends with their tenure in office.

May God deliver from those low lives like we have in Abia State.

Only God knows the stuff this Ugwuanyi guy is made of.

You just clarified a misconception held to heart by some of our Igbo brothers. Igboland is not landlocked, it never was, and can never be. Enugu International airport can replicate the Addis-Ababa aviation revolution no doubt. Yet, we should be careful how we try to use the Ethiopian resolve (to use the air as gateway to the world) as a reference point for Igboland. Ethiopia is a landlocked country, Igboland is not.

Now that Igbo land is not Landlocked , what is the next step to take to boost access to international Business Destinations, it really piques me that igbo land and igbos depend on Lagos for access to international Business Destinations where as all that could be needed is to have a Multinational visa processing Office in Enugu close to the Airport , Dredge the Aba River to the Atlantic to allow bigger barges , push for the completion of the concession of the Onitsha River Port ,Enlighten the importers and businesses in Aba and Onitsha through workshops , seminar on how they can benefit from the Dredged River ports, sign bilateral agreements with neighboring countries like Cameroon , Gabon to make use of their deep sea ports for transshipment of goods destined to Aba and Onitsha , build fuel Depots in Aba and Onitsha so that fuel importers can leverage on that to boost business activities in the Ports.
Encourage clearing and forwarding companies owned by igbos to have a branch in the east by giving them very encouraging tax rebates and low taxes etc
All it takes is the political will of someone like Mrs Oduah to get it done , if igbos built Imo Airport 30 years ago just 10 years after they were openly robbed of their savings through 20 pounds policy and their landed property through the abandoned property policy, Igbos can build a Sea port today without much financial stress and the sea port would make so much meaning 30 years down the lane just as Imo Airport is making so much meaning today

Oga Spyder,
I must commend and thank you immensely for opening this thread and taking the enormous pains to go out and find pictures to stimulate discussion on how the development of Enugu state has continued full steam under His Excellency, Barrister Sullivan Chime.
Apart from helping us to easily share ideas and inform our amiable governor about issues that require his attention, in America, the Igbo meeting in Connecticut and formerly in Alexander,LA have been referring people to this site. Those that are eager to find out the state of things in the former eastern region since the war ended. I am aware that a prominent American journalist that reported the civil war so well had viewed this thread as a guest several times because he once told a Nigerian (Non-Igbo woman) that he had seen wonderful recovery of Igboland posted on this site.So you are right that we need to resist the urge to throw back mud back at derailers, something we would not be proud of if important people are viewing our thread as an unbiased source of up to date information about how things truly are.
Thank you very much again for this great effort and may God bless you as you continue the good work.

What is wrong with you people and transshipment?

We should now push for dredging of our ocean outlets now that were still One 9ja because if break up happens, ijaw people will never allow you people to dredge the river in their territory.

^^^Also, that portion of the east-west road can be redirected under the river if need be! The South East states can factor this into the cost of building a sea port in Anambra!

Further down from Onitsha is Ndoni; if we get a country of our own we could also consider locating the sea port there!

The major reason why analysts say that calabar port is not economically viable is because of the need for constant dredging, which I am made to believe is expensive.

Now if that is true, don't you guys think that any sea port located within alaigbo will have the same problem?

Thats false information you have there. Calabar is almost a lagoon like Lagos and is very proximal to the ocean. Government policies in the distant past has been the bane of the various seaports outside Lagos. For example someone going to Calabar from Enugu will see hell on almost 80% of the entire route and has 50% chance of losing his goods to road mishap.

The city has the potential to compete economically with Lagos on the other end. The serenity, the cleanliness and the luxury apartments are nicee from the pictures.
